Well, yes, you have been hitting the inspirational posters too hard! -

Urgh - did you read that on a new age inspirational picture? Or an MBA course about giving 110% -
spin it back to where it came from and see if it comes back?

It gives me more speed in reality. Not only that it is more comfortable. However, if you currently use 2 I doubt it is easy to learn to use 3, I started with 3, so 2 seems a bit uncomfortable.

Who's good for couriering basses at the moment?
Woodinblack replied to franzbassist's topic in General Discussion
Yep, online on the parcelforce.com site, which is where I noticed where you but it it mentions it will appear on your statement as parcel2go.com. Ironically I had previously gone to parcel2go, where the cost was £18, which is why I thought i would check parcelforces site. -
Ah - sorry missed that, I thought it was for a full bass! I got 3 big knobs and 6 sliders plus postage from ashdown including postage for £2.50

I use 3, my two fingers are not really fast enough for whatever reason and they don't seem to be getting faster, so when I first got a bass when I was a kid i used 3 fingers and thats what stuck, one fingernail like a pick, one finger both sides (like geddy lee but not as good), two for medium paced stuff, 3 for everything else. In no fixed reason, just whatver my hand decides to do.

I was very surprised - I bought a bass that was pickup only last week, and the basschatter very kindly offered to box it if I could courier it. So I looked around and thought I would give parcelforce a try. Did the dimensions and the weight and it ended up at £10. I thought that was cheap so I got my wife to double check as she does lots of shipping, and sure enough, same result. So I thought maybe it is the cost of cover that bumps it up - it was covered to £150, so I thought I would put it the cost which was £250 and it went up by £2, so I got that too (ok, no good if they break it but if they lose it which seems more likely). So I booked a 48 hour service with them where they turn up with the labels, take the box and deliver it here, which they did, all went smoothly. £12. -
Wouldn't think that £50 for delivery from the states was that expensive.

In this case that you posted it is because those images aren't not actually there. They were probably removed in the great 'not enough space for pictures' crisis of a few years ago

Of course they don't, but its not about them, he specifically said he wanted to try to do not the same as every other group. Can't think of any local groups apart from us that don't do Dakota, and thats only because I put effort in for us not to do it!
-
Wouldn't that literally fall into the thing he was trying to avoid of sounding like every other group?

Just bought a GWB35 off Mike, well described, all went through smoothly and was a pleasure to deal with, thanks!

20 minutes? luxury. -
Looks like a great value fun little bass. I have a 28" scale bass which I use quite a lot (and have gigged a couple of times) and it is a good size in the house

Do you find your playing limited by your tastes?
Woodinblack replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Unless they are sequenced, it is pretty well impossible for most original bands too Also, not being Johnny Cash would have caused exactly the same lack of success. Ask an orchestra, they seem to like it. And the art of playing things, the fun of playing things and playing live motivates a lot of people more than coming up with something new. Some people prefer playing music to a 100 people who are all dancing and having a good time rather than their mum saying 'thats nice dear'. -
I should be getting a fretless tomorrow, and I have a gig on saturday. Seems like the ideal oportunity to find out if it is a good idea

Hard to tell isn't it, there are always going to be people better than you and people worse than you. Some people think they are great and they really aren't, but they can't hear what makes them worse than someone else. Some people can hear the subtlety of the difference between them and someone else so think they are terrible - the dunning kruger effect I guess. Without people having a standard to measure themselves to, there isn't much way to compare -
Average musicians that are gits?

Indeed - Opera without the singing (and in fact death metal without the honey monster singing) are fine, have no problem with that.
