Yep, ben is the creator of Crimson Guitars, really well spoken with a biohazard tattoo on his head.

Yeh, I thought about the bridge, its just a bit too old to have it (6 years), but I will leave it to see if it annoys me before getting one.

Many of us in the south west did a 1 day maintainance course with fret leveling a few years back* when they were starting up - Ben came to one of our early bass bashes. It was very good and would have always liked to do the building course but it is just getting a week to go! * Of course, when I say 'a few years' that means 11! edit - I looked for the original thread for it, but it suffered in the old Photobucucket purge of 2016!

First impressions, good to play, B string aside, although the action is too high, but I don't want to change that just yet, because the A&D strings are proud of the nut, and looking on the interweb, rics are supposed to have a weird 45-55-75-105 gauge for those strings, and I suspect this is just a standard 45-65-85-105, so I ordered some new middle strings and see what that is like before I adjust anything. Also the pickup seems quite a way down, but also slightly on an angle, but one of those metal surrounds you get would be nice so I will get one of those.

A lot of the gigs I have been playing recently are with my rick 5 string 4004, I thought about getting a 5 string 4003 made. i looked into it but ultimately you end up paying the same as a real s/h ric for the same price so I decided to just get a normal 4003 and see if I got on with it. So that turned up today, a matte 4003s - I have a practice tomorrow so I get to hear what it sounds like, but I need to go through my normal set and try and adapt to having a string missing. Traditionaly it has never worked, and I ended up ignoring the 4, but we shall see- its a bit harder to convert a 4003 to a 5 string with the bridge! First impressions are good, apart from the obvious lack of strings! Anyway, useless without pictures, so here we are

Yes, that works better because you are not using the same signal, you are using a different signal on each path that has different resonant frequencies and dips
-
and in my experience, Andertons, Guitar Guitar and Wunjos do.

Maybe its the not answering - I know several things I wanted to buy that I emailed about didn't get bought because the shop didn't answer, so I went elsewhere. Wheras I have bought quite a few things entirely on email, so don't really have a problem with it. If you don't want to use email, thats fine, don't put an email out. However, if you do put an email out, don't ignore it.
-
No, because it is exactly the same signal. You would need a variable delay or pitch modulation between them to make them sound like two basses, because two basses can't possibly play in perfect unison and your brain knows that.

Indeed you can opt out of simple delivery - I didn't last thing I sold and it was a bit of a faff, but worked out ok. -
Probably best not then, just remember them then - I haven't been since 87, which is why I didn't go to the last tour.

I think it is a good choice, she was recommended to them by someone they trusted, she can clearly do the job and more importantly, although she is known, she isn't a 'name' like Portnoy or Grohl that everyone already has fixed ideas on.
-
I have a number that is probably above 10, and I was looking at doing some adverts to move them on, or at least ones that dont get played much. but I also have a new one incoming!
-
I am also wiped out with lurgi since the middle of last week, but I will be fine by sunday!
-
It does, but that is no different from an ABY pedal or just connecting the direct of one effect to another, its the same signal. You can put a different effects on different parts of the same signal, but ultimately it will still sound like one bass with different processing on it.
-
Yep, more comments here

When they said getting other people in, I did hope that they would get a guest singer too. I didn't bother with the last tour as clearly he couldn't sing most of the earlier stuff, so I doubt it has changed much.
-
Sure, I will start making space on the pedalboard now
-
If only there was some clue in your signature!
-
I do remember, and I am thinking of selling some basses, but that one isn't in the list, it is currently close to being my favourite, it has certainly done more gigs than any other single bass.
-
Seems to be generally positive, but the same points seem to come up from everyone, which made me unsure. Plus, when it comes down to it, its quite a lot for a copy of a thing, when you can get that thing for the same price, so, well, I went and got the same thing for the same price, even if it has a string missing - I will try and see if I can get on with it, and if I can't then I shouldn't have much trouble moving it on
-
Both of those were pretty cheap - this is too expesnive for what I need, but a bit cheaper would be ok! I suspect I updated my SY-1 for an SY-200 before you did? But then I never really used it much anyway!
