  1. There are at least 250 different options even if you are confining yourself to an 8 bit character set. If you aren't, then there are 1000s of different characters. I haven't had problems using non latin characters anywhere for a long time.
  2. I do too. I am pretty sure noone is going to want to steal my face!
  3. Do you not have a mac as well (not sure how good my memory is) - if so just sling xair on that and it makes it easy to set up. I found when I started I got a bit messed up with echo sends and returns (and ended up with some nasty loops), but like all these things, its just practice. What is also very good, if you get a chance - once you get a multitrack of your band as I did this weekend, you can feed that back to the XR and practice with some of the other input stuff, compressors, limiters, effects routing in a much more natural way than when you are just sitting there moving sliders up and down.
  4. The most accurate one of which is Paypal.
  5. But in common with a lot of sites, the passwords aren't stored, just the hashes of them and something else. If you have access to that (and I am pretty confident that no bad people do), you don't need as much time because you don't need to crack one password, you need to crack any, with passwords in different groups having different value. Or just replace the passwords entirely if you have access. It is a lot easier to social engineer your way in though. I mean if I took the email list, made a mass email saying 'hi, my name is sophie, sorry for the un-announced email, I got your email from the internet as a bass player. My dad passed away recently at the age of 60, he played this one bass all his life, he loved it as it had the same date of birth as him. It says Fender Precision Bass at the end, and it is brown fading to black at the edges, it is in good condition in an orange lined case that says Fender on it. Now I need to clear his stuff out, and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me £1500 or around there for it - would you be interested?'. Most people would ignore it, a lot of people would reply saying dont' sell it for that, but I would also have a very healthy bank account by the end of the day.
  6. no the site is updated every month, there is custom code, it is often a PITA and messes up, but it needs to be done not if there is an internet round trip time of many 100 of ms, and you get locked out after 3!
  7. No, but it is still better than some of the alternatives.
  8. You were the other account that got locked that I alluded to up the thread a bit (didn't want to name names!) No, that is a different sort of thing, we have had a couple of those recently, that was just an attempt at spam, this was something by a person more targeted and specific. Sadly if he has been successful in some way I would suspect that he may be back to try again. If people can be vigilant, and report anything suspicious, and avoid any adverts insisting on F&F PayPal that they don't know, this would help
  9. I have been using the Lekatos for several years and I have had no problems with them. I would assume there was no support on that budget level, seems you were unlucky there.
  10. Yeh, mine was exactly like that, from I think 97
  11. That was a genuine mail - you were locked out of your account last night because the same guy had tried to log into your account multiple times, but had failed and it locked the account. Later on, after the person had moved on, I unlocked your account (and another) as I knew it wasn't you trying and they had given up on those accounts But genuinely, I never follow a link in an email anyway, I always check first.
  12. Trust me, if you knew Chaypup, you wouldn't have had any problem knowing that the person you were talking to was not him.
  13. To me I hear the sound difference between a fretless and a fretted bass more clearly than anything else!
  14. Depends - I will do friends and family for any amount that I am reasonably confident on and I have established that the person I am talking is a real genuine person and I would be prepared to send them an envelope of cash, but if it is a large amount that I am not prepared to lose I would pay ordinary paypal, it is only a few quid more and you get protection on it.
  15. To once again reiterate a point that has been made many times before, paypal Friends and Family is the same as stuffing some tenners in an envelope and posting it to someone. If someone is your friend or your family, or equivalent and you are sure of the address they are using, then fine, use it if you trust them 100% or you don't care about the money, but otherwise don't. And if someone insists on you using it, run a mile. Also thanks to the members that flagged these posts up as dodgy.
  16. Yes my Ibanez artcore semi hollow, it's too gassy live but louder than the other basses when not plugged in
  17. I would put it a bit lower, but yes, it is quite clear when you go up the M5 from Bristol there is a sign that says "The North" - so obviously anything more north of that is the North.
  18. Sorry - missed this before - I think it has a lot of potential. As mentioned the pitch to frequency is a bit slow and not great for stuff with attack (although can be used fine if you prepare for it and play for its latency), the stuff the V synths do (and the new boss stuff) which uses the actual signal and processes it works fine as it is using the actual signal (same as the current boss pedals but with the whole set of strings). Ironically the original roland system used this too to produce its best sounds. Also don't ignore the Variax stuff that already does this in one instrument
  19. That is literally one of the purposes of midi - to be able to control many devices from various places.
  20. Local pub tonight (like, took me 3 minutes to drive home local), but had never been there before. only reason we got the gig was our singer went in to ask if they had rehursal space - they didn't but they did have gigs. I wasnt' sure what to expect, the place looked small, and when we set up it was right against the bar, so the drummer went in the corner and the rest of us were out from there (looking at other band pictures there, that is what everyone does). Really easy setup and by the time we started quite a crowd. We played well and the crowd were enthusiastic and energetic. Great night, they overpaid us and asked us back for their leaving night do in December. There is some video they shot but its on facebook, so no idea if people would be able to see it or not!
  21. I do all channel multitracks, but we only wire up the full drums on outdoor gigs (such as todays) so I will multitrack from this one. I use Garage Band on an old laptop to actually record, and then just put it in logic to do any mixing, the laptop I record on is an old 1st edition macbook air with a floppy lid that is dented, so I don't mind it dissapearing on stage! I record all gigs but never really tried it with my zoom, maybe I should - I just tend to stick the recorder somewhere. The XR16 had a usb recorder, shame they took that off on the 18, but then you get the multitrack (which is the main reason I changed).
  22. I had one, black one with no scratchplate. played well, the pickups were a bit weak I thought, compared to a geddy lee that I used to have. The non beveled sides in the end started to irritate me a bit but then I got rid of it, as I always do, because it was a 4 string so I couldn't really use it live. Overall I liked it, but it didn't have anything to really make it stand out, other than its looks, and that wasn't enough.
  23. haha - I would say the exact opposite!
  24. This has already been fixed
  25. why is it a univeral thing that people who want £15000 for an instrument can't actually take an in focus photo?
