  1. Might be short lived though - I tried it after work and plugging it in I was greeted by a nice loud buzz through everything. Same sort of buzz you get when you have a digital and analogue effect on the same power supply, the sort I used to get with various things before I got an isolated power supply. Not very promising if I get it when nothing else is plugged in. The effects that are built in seem pretty good, although plugging in the usb lead provided failed to enable me to get to any user interface - they really could think of the finishing touches couldn't they - there is a piece of paper that thanks you for getting it, and gives you a web address you can manually type in to get to a quick start guide, and when you get to that, and have scrolled down far enough it actually says how to get started, by showing you a picture of the web address you have to type in your browser to get to the device. Really smart guys - a link too tricky, or you just want to add inconvenience? So no, I did't manage to get to the gui - I guess I have to do some reading to get this to work, but then even if I do, the buzz isn't useable in an effects pedal. Somewhat dissapointed
  2. What is this offence? who is offended? Hearing that song again in any form would have that effect on me!
  3. Not that ironic really, all conducted over the net as any of this sort of trasaction should be. Anyway, ordered a mod dwarf from them on thursday night, turned up just now, so good shipping, good price. Seems like the box had already been opened though, so not sure why but all there and plastic on the screen so maybe just in the shop.Still, cheaper than the thomman bstock, so no problem really, and kind of what I would expect, so assuming everything is good (have opened and looked but not tried it yet) then I am happy with that
  4. So today I can join your club, found out that bass direct sell them so picked up one there, a bit cheaper than thomman (and most of the used ones on the net). Great size, if this does everything i think it can do I can downsize my pedalboard a bit although obviously you have to consider space for the needed footswitches to make it actually useable! Looking forward to using this tonight!
  5. Ironically, i would say it makes it more likely to be legit - i mean if you were faking it you would never forget that bit!
  6. It must affect the value, however minimaly.
  7. I played one in PMT, and loved its playability, didn't have any neck dive that I noticed, also didn't seem to have a weak B string, but you don't really get to test it that much in a shop. I didn't know if the issue had been fixed or not as there was never an indication from spector it was an issue, but it clearly was for some people. I would still pick up a green one (or better, the red one) if one popped up while I had the money! Have fun with it, I really enjoyed the pickup options and basic sound (although I found it had a fundamentally good sound when off, which is always important)
  8. Think it would have been better without the singing. I mean, not that she is a bad singer, she is great, but not for that song. As an orchestral piece it would be fine.
  9. That bass must be an absolute dog - looks like noone ever wanted to play it!
  10. I loved the dimension when I played it, and was all set to buy one from bass direct, as they were just about the cheapest, even though at the limit I was going to play. Unfortunately the didn't have the green one so I contacted them to ask about it, and they said the green one was going to be another £100 when it came in, so that was a bit too much. There was a s/h green one in BD recently, I was tempted but need to clear some things out first. I will get one at some point, the only thing that concerns me is the whole '5th string doesn't go over the pickup' situation as argued about a lot in 'the other place'.
  11. eBay only now counts transactions in the last 12 months.
  12. I tend to just use the spark app when I am playing, works out similar
  13. I haven't used that - but what is the difference between it and Spleeter/deezer which is just an open source project you run on your own computer?
  14. As I said, because I hadn't noticed in your posts which forum it was, and your first report landed just when I was hugely busy with work, sorry.
  15. Out of that list I think only the bongo or some versions of dingwall would appeal, but I don't think you can get either for £1500 new, so seems like a fail! Would like a bongo, but very expensive, same as a canadian dingwall, wouldn't want a combusion. If it had to be new and it had to be up to £1500, I guess it would be an ibanez.
  16. that is always the risk if you sell it because you didn't like it - I always think 'why did I sell that' and then remember, but when you sell something that you have to for financial reasons, its not the same. I still regret selling my ibanez 6/12 double neck, but I didn't want to be homeless!
  17. Thats on me not keeping up with things, and not spotting what forum you were on. I looked into it, couldn't find anything. As they say in the trade, have a look again, how about now?
  18. I remember seeing that bass at bass direct and being fairly tempted.
  19. I don't believe he would, if he knew. But I believe it is very possible to make an authentic fake of these instruments without too much trouble. Compared to other fakable things, a solid body electric guitar / bass seems pretty simple.
  20. Honestly the money that those basses (and more so guitars) are going for now, and the ease of faking these things, I wouldn't be surprised if the old saying about Gibson '58 les pauls starts to get true for other things - "Time has passed so far since then that only 1000 of the original 428 '58 les pauls are still in circulation"
  21. You have a vintage fender - could the people who know you in your circuit verify which bass was yours?
  22. Slightly reduced, I could whip up the provenance for that in a few minutes and the internet. At most it is an public interest story made to make you feel better about paying that much.
  23. But it doesn't- it just shows that someone in the 60s was in a group with a non white bass that was probably red. It doesn't in any way indicate that it was this one, as they kind of all look the same.
  24. It shows their advertising as quite poor in that I genuinely didn't know what it was until I read that! I can see this being very useful with guitars - not a problem with I have on bass, but good on them for trying something. I doubt they would ever be making a 16.5mm spacing 5 string one anyway
