Do you think I'd be able to get that sound by using a load of compression and possibly my old Marshall Guvnor pedal?

Thanks for the tips. How much would it set me back to get one of those pedals?

Been listening to 'Bonkers' by Dizzee Rascal. I love the strange sound they used on the bass line. I'm not sure how it's achieved so does anyone out there know?

When I get a chance to open up my cab I'll post up how it's wired, the two speakers are Eminence LE10-50s, 8ohms from what I've read. Thanks very much for the help.

The bass head is the Ashdown Superfly, I've read that it runs at 10 ohms which really confused me. The guitar head is the Blackheart Handsome Devil, modified by Rat Valve Amps - has a selectable impedance switch on the back for 4, 8 and 16 ohms.

I also have an 8ohm 1000 watt monitor speaker that I intend to use as a cab for a bass head. The head runs at 10 ohms and 500 watts, so would this monitor be safe to use?

Hi, This is going to sound pretty dumb but I've got a cabinet with 2 x 10 inch speakers running at 8ohms and 75 watts a piece. Does this make the cab run at 150 watts total? Also is the ohmage 8? I've bought a new 6 string head with an ohmage selector and don't want to end up blowing the cab/head. Also I have a head that runs ar 10 ohms, could I safely use this with the cabinet mentioned?

Speaking as one of the younger members off BC I can safely say I'm grateful that I play guitar/bass these days based on the sheer amount of good quality gear available for decent money. I learnt my craft myself, with a lot of time spent listening to musicians and trying to emulate. I find it sad to hear about these kids who lack any effort, I put enough in and I still can't play fast crazy guitar solos haha. I can however copy by ear

It's a distinct possibility, It's a really nice looking bass but I've only ever seen it at odd angles haha

Anyone got an idea of where I can get some good detailed shots of it?

Means a lot when people gives us props for what we do. Sadly there's a lot of 'punk' bands out there that really shouldn't be calling themselves punk! I've been lucky, I've only been playing for the boys since Feb and I've been able to share the stage with The Subs, Sham, ANL and the Fingers, it's something I have a lot of pride in. Yeah, I hope they didn't pay too. It's an absolute dream to own a bit of 'KISStory' especially one of the stage used guitars. On a similar note I'm rather happy as I've just recieved some pics of the Axe bass I ordered! I'm am more than happy, especially how much it set me back

It just seems to be the biggest waste of wood and guitar parts I've ever seen. Why would anyone buy that? I mean seriously?... people would actually laugh if you gigged it

Nevermind an osteopath I dread to think how much a luthier would charge to set the thing up and tuning stability is a frightening concept!

For £3,600... if I a ) had the money and b ) knew that the auction was genuine would have very willingly paid every penny. Must be a scam though, I quite reasonably asked for the seller to send some more pics and I never even got dignified with a reply.

Definitely do it. They're a great playing bass and they sound good enough anyway, I can only imagine how brilliant it would sound with a quarter pounder. By the way, these artist endorsements - no custom stuff done whatsoever. Mine is stock and standard.

Gotta hand it to Paul that's one hell of a story! Fair does to you, as much as I want the covetted pinball machine I think I'd have made a swift dash for it! Not quite on the same level... but I once went to the 6th form fancy dress party in full Ace regalia (that I managed to cobble together in the two weeks I had), knowing full well it was in the local football club. I got given a lift but due to the bollards outside the clubs grounds had to walk the final stretch up the hill in my platforms. I got to the club, walked through the door and handed the doorman my ticket. Following the rather strange look he gave me he pointed me in the direction of the hall. Unbeknown to me I had to walk past the bar,which was full to capacity with drunken football boys after a game and had 2 rather huge windows which I had to walk past. I hastily got by with a shower of pointing and jeering. I walked into the hall and not one person recognised me, everyone I said hello to had to ask who I was. The night too rather a bitter turn due to the vast amount of alcohol that was consumed, the football boys managed to find their way in and bottled my mate who was dressed as Elvis (he was stood next to the entrance), luckily my other mate who was dressed as Willy Wonka grabbed hold of him pulled him in my direction and we made a rather swift escape out of the fire exit. What a bizarre scene that must have been. Elvis, Willy Wonka, Ace Frehley and a collection of other random people including the village people legging it down the drive of a football club... 'Elvis' rented his costume and lost his deposit cos of the bloodstains.
