1. Les Paul Jr's and Specials are slim bodied and I think are a smaller overall size than Strats. I used to have a Special with P90's. Brill guitars and can be picked up reasonably cheap...I sold mine for £350.
2. Just bought a pedal from Pablo that arrived when promised and matched his description perfectly. Great comms too, seems a top bloke and wouldn't hesitate to buy from again. Cheers!
3. Hey guys, I'm with a band that has some original material, not all of which is recorded or tabbed. I was thinking of getting the Tascam DR-05 to record those songs as we play them so that I can then carry on practising at home. I was just wondering if there are other options I should be looking at. The Tascam is a little bit more than I would have wanted to pay and while I am no Luddite it does appear at first glance to be overly complicated to navigate through the options. I would stress that this is just to record songs that I am unfamiliar with so that I can get to grips with them away from practice. I wouldn't be using the recordings as demos or anything like that. I would be really grateful for your thoughts as I have next to no idea what I should be looking at. Many thanks! PS, forgot to mention that I tried iPhone at last nights practice but was an overloaded noise!
4. Superb trade with Jason....swapped my Rat Tail for his Pickle Pie B. The pedal arrived when promised and it is in top condition. Really nice bloke as well!
5.
I think you are both right about a Fuzz pedal being needed the search continues lol
A cranked Rat.....high gain/low volume setting, might be the answer to that then? ..or a muff.
6. As I have cocked up by missing the fact that Mojo Mark had already started a thread for me, I'll link to his feedback here and then continue using this as my main one! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/218475-feedback-for-jonesy64/ Thanks, Mark.
7. Thanks in advance to anyone leaving feedback for me :-) Cheers, Mark.
8. Bought Mark's Schroeder 410BMF, really nice bloke and very accommodating over meeting up to swap cash for cab! Thanks Mark!
9. Quick £10 price drop to get it sold....hopefully!
10. I have been using Couch straps on my guitars for a few years. I have a Racer X strap and three Luggage straps. Also have a couple of wallets and a camera strap :-) . I think they are great, very durable and comfortable on my guitars. No experience with the seat belt style or used with a Bass but as a company they definitely get my vote
11. Pedaltrain Jr with soft case. Gigged a fair bit but I look after my stuff and there are no scuffs or marks to suggest it has been used and abused....unless you count the Joe's Pedals sticker on the front edge abusive, I think it adds to the value haha :-) The soft case is in very good nick but does have a broken zip tag (see pic) The Velcro applied is hook side up and I have also added tabs on the underside to tidy up the power cables (see pic) The pics do show the Power pack still in place but it is not included in the price. The brackets and screws are of course. Looking for £55 with 2nd class recorded postage included to mainland UK addresses. Paypal gift option preferred as payment. Thanks for looking and please contact me with any questions.
12. There is a ProCo Rat in the effects for sale forum, £40 and I'll give another vote to the Bad Monkey. Danelectro, Joyo, Mooer fall into your budget and (I think) each one of them has a OCD and Tubescreamer clone in their range.
13. Fuzzrocious Rat Tail for sale or trade. 2nd distortion mod version. Three weeks old bought direct from Joe's. As new condition, it came unboxed. Pics to follow. Loved it at first but on reflection I prefer the 78 Rat clone I have. It does retain the low end better than the clone but I prefer the overall tone of the 78 so I would like to move the Rat Tail on to fund other purchases. £120 inc 2nd class recorded post to mainland UK. Paypal gift option preferred please. Will trade for Tronographic Rusty Box or Darkglass VMT + cash adjustment as required. Will consider other items too. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions. Cheers, Mark

17. The Genz Contour 500 combo I just sold is a cracker and are further reduced now to £299 at BassDirect. Its much more than a home combo but it has all the features you could want like headphone and aux in sockets. The gain and pre-amp volumes are perfect for getting it to play nice and quiet without losing any of its punch. Crank the master volume when there's no-one around! It's also quite light if a little bulky to walk about with. So, a bit more than your budget but worth a look perhaps?
18. Price knocked down already,I didn't realise Mark had reduced these to £299!! Price now £250 They were £349 when I bought mine lol!
19. Genz Benz Contour 500 1x15 combo. Bought in July from BassDirect so no more than two months old. It has sat in my front room being used as a practice amp and I had fully intended to use it as my gigging rig. Soon as I bought it I have kind of regretted it though. I am an amp and cab guy, have been for years so I have decided to move it on and get back to separates. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with it, it's a cracking combo and I am sure it has the grunt to gig with and it's light weight would have been a godsend. All that said though, I need to get back into my comfort zone so to speak :-) I am asking £250. I live in Nuneaton and would prefer collection although I wouldn't mind travelling to meet, say, 20 mile radius of Nuneaton? You are also welcome to come round and try it out. Pics to follow but it is as new. It went from the packing box to my front room and hasn't been moved since. I am a new seller here but have bought from Lefty73 and BassDoc. You can also find me on EBay as GBMark86 where I have over 700 (100%) positive feedback scores. Thanks for looking and please feel free to get in touch on here or PM.
20. Plenty big enough as a single cab for pubs and clubs then? Can I ask you (and the two previous owners if they are reading) what amps you have been using through it? I am getting ready to gig with my band and was thinking of moving from my combo to a Bass Terror....this looks like it could be a cracking cab to go with it.
21. Same experience for me, more or less....I moved to bass a couple months ago after playing a six stringer for donkey's years. I jumped straight in and bought a P bass with a 44-45mm nut width and quite a deep neck profile compared to my guitars. I found it harder than expected but after a couple weeks I did get used to the neck and ended up auditioning and getting into a band. That meant I would need a back-up bass for gigs (what better excuse :-) ) and I decided to make it a Jazz so that I would have both generic styles. I played a American Jazz at a music shop and WOW, instantly knew this was the instrument for me. Went back a second time and came home with it. Everything about my playing improved overnight, smoother, faster, more precise. Totally down to the neck width, profile and finish. When I go back to the P bass now it's not that it is a struggle to play it but its just not as comfortable. I put the whole thing down to my left hand being used to smaller guitar necks and the P bass was/is making me stretch too far too soon. No doubt if I had been playing 1950's Les Paul's for years I might have found the transition to a Precision easier but these modern profile necks are perfect for me.
22. I have the possibility to do an exchange for a 2000 built American Jazz. I have seen it and had a quick play and found it really nice. I plan to go ahead with the exchange but I have read that pre-2008(?) American builds are a bit hit and miss. I'm going back to have another viewing and a longer play on it, probably midweek.....is there anything I should be paying particular attention to or looking out for? The item I am exchanging (an amp head) is worth around £600. Is that a decent price for a 2000 Jazz? Condition is very good by the way, just some buckle rash and and a scratched(!) scratchplate. Nothing else stood out when I saw it recently. Thanks in advance.
