1. I have this exact spec bass and it is a keeper.
2. I will take it. Tell me where to send the money!
3. I had one of these back in the 70s. Sold it in 1981 for £100. I still remember the serial no 131618 if I am not mistaken. I thought I saw it once again, on television, played by the bass player for the Alarm. It was very distinctive, it had a P bass pickup added in the bridge position and a distinctive mark where the scratch plate should have been. I would be interested to hear what became of it if anyone knows anything. Good luck with the sale.
4. That auction closed with a winning bid of £176.99, now its been relisted http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121150214140 Curious.
5. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antistatic_wrist_strap http://www.maplin.co.uk/wrist-strap-with-cord-4008
6. What key is the piece in? What key changes? What genre/groove required? What tempo? What else is going on in the 8 bars? Just some of the factors I should consider, before ignoring all of the above and parachuting in my favourite Dm7 go anywhere groove (Cantaloupe Island).
7. The pictures have been lifted from here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/200362-westone-thunder-iii-bass-for-sale1986-matsumoku-made-sold/ Looks wrong to me
8. If this is kosher then I would be interested, though it is the fretless I really want. I had a 3a fretless in the early 80s and really liked it. One of those I should not have sold. Dont feel comfortable about this one though, the pricing doesnt seem right, and the seller has no history, also not sure if the pictures are of the one for sale, the text seems to hint not. I have had an ebay notification for westone thunder for at least 6 months now and only recall seeing one 3 come up in that time. Didnt detect this one because of mispelling in title. I had forgotten how heavy they were, didnt used to bother me but might be different now!
9. Rotosound funkmasters at 30-50-70-90 can be picked for around £16. Very light and start with lots of zing, but lose it quite quickly and need to be replaced quite soon. I have been through a lot of these.
10. the phrasing is quite tricky, and varies slightly between intro, and main riff, I have attempted to show the difference with (X), but tab isnt great for phrasing. And this is the first time I think I have ever written one. G------------------------76 D----------------0557 A---------04X5 E-(X)05 I struggled with this riff for years, and made a big step forward when I could double thumb it, when I am playing it now sounds pretty close to me but I did record it recently and it was nowhere near as good on replay. I have no idea about the fills.
11. After clean up and set up Now sold
12. 1978 4002 pulled out of hibernation (about 3 months ago)
13. Hi there, first post from me. Been playing since 1975 but never reached the standard I aspired to. Have recently gone back to basics and am working on simple scales etc to fill the gaps in my abilities. Just sold my Rickenbacker 4002 which I had since 1981, and now plan to spend the proceeds on something amazing. The 4002 more or less went into retirement in 1986 when I got a Westone super headless, which has been my go to bass ever since. Also had a Thunder 3a fretless but had to sell that to pay for another impulse buy. Several other basses laying about the place, but nothing special. Rig for the last 10 years has been an SWR workingman 12 which I bought while living in the States. I converted it to UK voltage after hunting down the transformer manufacturer, but the results are not great, so new amp is on the shopping list as well. Oh, and when I got it out of the garage the other day it was covered in mould. I reckon I owe myself a decent fretless so am looking around for something interesting. Not sure really what I am looking for except that it needs to have 5 strings, no more, no less, with supermodel looks (yes, I am vain) and a voice like a choir of angels. And the same for a fretted bass. If anyone has any bright ideas I would be interested to hear!
