1. Hey MiltyG565! That's really awesome that you've heard of us and don't worry, it's not for everyone! I will definately get in touch dude! Nice to see a fellow NI bassist on here!
2. Picked up one of these on the cheap on people's recommendation! Time to get spacey!
3. Interested in learning some cool scales again I know my basic ones, but are there any one's that are a little weirder and cooler to crack out? I've lost my connection with scales that I once had?
4. Nice one Gaz! They're beautiful wee things!
5. I've been posting for a wee while now but I haven't done one of these! I'm Chris! I'm 21, I live in Belfast where I study Sociology and I also just finished getting a music production degree as well! I started playing when I was around 10 when my brother showed his electric and got hooked in, eventually decided bass was the way to go after hearing Six Pack by Black Flag when I was around 12. I haven't played in a massive amount of bands, only 2 in fact. I played with these guys Steering Fail from when I was 16 to about 19 and we just played weird grunge kinda stuff, but anyway we recorded this EP before we broke up, this is also were I found my voice (singer/guitarist left for uni) http://steeringfail.bandcamp.com/ Then I formed this band with the old drummer in Steering Fail and got this other guy in, now we're PigsAsPeople and we play noise rock/post-hardcore kinda stuff, we've toured the UK, going back over in July, toured Ireland a few times, good craic. http://pigsaspeople.bandcamp.com/album/the-first-four-months I've used P-basses just cause they sound amazing to my ears, can't beat em (although I'd love a Grabber) I used to play an Orange Terror Bass 500 which I used overdriven for a real grindy sound, but the tone got really sterile and the OTB 500 has a horrible EQ I think, so I use an Ampeg SVT 3 now pushing a little Orange 2x12 and a DIY 2x15 I picked up for about £80 I use a Fulltone OCD pushing into a Fuzzrocious Rat Tail, this is the greatest distortion sound to my ears, can't beat it, I use a Big Muff as well because I don't really use fuzz very often so I just got the standard one, got a Mooer Shimverb and a Rusty Box on the way too! I love Brian Cook, Nick Thieneman, David Wm. Sims, Bob Weston, Chuck Dukowski, Mike Watt, Rob Wright, Charles Mingus, Nate Newton people like that This was probably a bit long, should get back to exam revising Cheers!
6. Btw dude checking out your band My Own Flag Sounds amazing dude!
7. I've heard about it a lot but I've never considered it, I just like that low OD sound that the OCD does, I'll take a look at the Phat Phuk though!
8. I wanna hear all of the best alternatives to the Fulltone OCD (my favourite OD on bass), not including the Oh See Demon Gimme your best suggestions!
9. Went ahead and bought a ShimVerb for about £40 there There were a couple of parts in some new songs we were writing where the bass needed to be a little washy and way more spacious, whenever we get them recorded I'll share! Reverb can get you lost in the mix, but it's handy I'm only competing with one other guitarist who isn't a frequency hog, so that helps!
10. That Mooer is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks 0175westwood29!
11. Hey guys Looking at maybe getting a reverb pedal, since I'm a bit broke most of the time, I'm looking for a good cheap one I'd love an Iron Ether Nimbus but they're a tad expensive maybe some other time! I was listening to this track by These Arms Are Snakes and I was wondering if Brian Cook has used a reverb pedal on this track to make his bass sound very roomy and big, I could be wrong, if I am, please correct me Cheers dudes!
12. Amazing demo Si! Next time money comes through, I'll be a broke dick!
13. We got together in July, wrote a set of about 7 originals, went on tour and it was very successful, I'd never do it any other way. I think sometimes people just use covers in jams just to kinda hide away from showing off their writing abilities, people being shy sometimes. Covers are fun when you're a big noisy band doing pop covers (we're currently in the works of doing Wrecking Ball for a Christmas show) or bringing someone people know from another band to sing or what have you (we usually always bring Tony Wright (ex And So I Watch You From Afar) up on stage to sing Territorial Pissings). Time and place ya know!
14. I bought a Ruiner bass fuzz and hated it, just farted and had no sustain whatsoever, despite it sounding fantastic on the demos she had put up. Dwarfcraft's gear seems amazing, especially that Eau Claire Thunder fuzz
15. I've recently acquired a 2x15 cab from a friend, he built it from scratch and sold me it for £80, so I thought why not! I'm yet to have a proper blast on it, but from what I can gather, it sounds amazing, even for it being made on the cheap. How do you guys feel about DIY cabs? Anyone got them and like them or hate them?
16. My guitarist uses a Demon King and swears by it, I've never actually had a go on it, whenever I next have more money I might go for the OSD but the OCD is doing me grand as is! I play with a pick!
17. Territorial Pissings is always great fun, Waiting Room by Fugazi has a great bass line which is great to play and War Pigs is a classic!
18. I'd love to hear what a Demon going into a RT going into a BDPG sounds like, my main tone is all OCD going into a Rat, just want to see if it gives it a little more definition
19. Si that'd be amazing if you could dude, I'd love hear it with a Rat Tail as well! Cheers man!
20. Thanks for all the replies guys! But my faith and love for Fuzzrocious gear is just too great, I'm gonna need to get that BDPG, I think it'll work best for what my band is going for, only problem is it's really hard to find decent clips of it but after listening to Ryan's band Cavale on Bandcamp there, I can only assume that some of those riffs had the BDPG on it and it's the exact tone I want. I just want a broke dick guys...
21. I'm leaning a bit more on the BDPG side cause I love that pre gain idea, plus apparently it gives you seriously big lows The Tone Hammer just seems a bit TOO modern, hence why I stay away from Sansamps
22. Looking something to beef up my tone and round it all up! I'm looking at the Tronographic Rusty Box, Fuzzrocious BDPG and the Aguliar Tone Hammer. Playing a Fender P with Dimarzio Model P's going though an OCD, Rat Tail and Bass Big Muff and then finally an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro pushing an Orange 2x12 and a DIY 2x15 Any suggestions guys?
