1.
Well, in my own humble opinion, it doesn't get any better than this on this planet, 'between the forceps and the stone'. The very definition of 'sublime'. There are, all through JM's long and fruitful career, so many pure gems; several of them are graced with a contribution from JP. Look, it's no exaggeration to say that it's even better than the Grateful Dead, and even Schubert..! There, I've said it..!
A Canadian beauty better than American beauty ?
2.
Yes, brilliant. I presume you have heard the live Orchestral album ? Vince Mendoza and his terrific arrangements. Personally I only stumbled upon it last year. Not sure how I missed it to be honest. Sublime version of 'Hejira'
I had missed this version ...stunning ,really beautiful
3.
... and I find it strange that there are folks that don't seem to appreciate Phil Lesh, too... Box of Rain ... Funny ol' world, isn't it..?
Love Phil ..he floats like no other !
4.
Jaco was not actually that technical; he was funky as fcuk. Of course there were great technical tracks that stretched the envelope but, in the main, he grooved. I know technical players. Jaco was much more than that.
I agree he was a great groove player whilst being technical and melodic at the same time and i dont think he was being flash i think he was just being Jaco...Donna Lee must have blown minds when he first did that !
5.
I really like some of his playing and he was definitely unsurpassed at this style... you could probably say he defined it. I can't listen to Rocco but Jaco was something else. Still a very tricky and accomplished style or technique to this day... some many things need to come together to carry it off. The track itself doesn't really do it for me, but Jaco was THE guy in his day.
Each to his own i always find Roco one of the best and tightest groove players ,and probably the biggest influence on Jaco's groove ! https://youtu.be/puY2_cRLMbQ
6. Does anyone know if thats 2 bass lines on the original post or is the low one keys ?
7.
I really enjoyed it, cheers for posting. That's just the sort of cheese I've started to really enjoy listening to in the last couple of years. Unrelated but in a sort of similar vein, my latest discovery has been Bobbi Humphrey, jazz/funk flautist extraordinaire. 8. Love it are there 2 bass lines on that or is Jaco doing it all himself in one line ?
9. I tried one of these in Coda music Stevenage the other day and it was great ,[ for some reason i thought it would be less jazz like !] nice and light and played a treat if it was shiny and new looking with normal knobs i would of had it
10. For a good cheap option you cant beat these http://www.gearbest.com/headsets/pp_270782.html?currency=GBP&gclid=CLje-ufaqs4CFQgq0wodrgAPpw
11. Great stuff Matt i have the same bass but mine sounds slightly more neck pickup heavy with everything wide open ,have you raised yours at all ?
12. Sorry just spoke to him hes already booked to dep with Led Zep act.
13. There is a very capable dep from St Albans way who might be able t help you out but i'm not sure if he's on here Paul Davis https://www.facebook.com/pauldavismusic?fref=ts
14. Lakland 55 94 hits a lot of your points but i guess its a bolt on neck
15. Me too mostly and i love it but i think the fender type passive jazz sound is is a lot closer to the Squier's and the vintage i tried, the sire for me is punchier and has more mids ,i also like the fact you can still use tone control on passive setting
16. Another Sire vote for me although if i was going for passive i love the squier vm or vibes also i tried a vintage jazz the other day and it was great less than 250 as well
17. Great playing by Melvin Davis and i dont knw about 'A little bumpin ' but Marcus played on the original of ' night rythms 'so its bound to sound like him surely !
18. Its a no brainer for me ,just go with what you like the most and if you pull out of the one with material your not keen on then they can get someone who likes that stuff
19. To be fair the original post does say ' needs help ' so we should be kind
20.

HA ..me too
21. There are a couple of music shops in Exeter and being a student town i imagine they hire out so that might be worth a look ,also this may well have gone but if not i would grab it https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/vintage-kay-bass-guitar-electric-rare.-e100/1178172321
22.
And now if you don't buy it, based on the fact you liked it AND can get it cheap and be able to sell for the same price if you don't like it - you have been wasting both ours and your own time here.
Does this translate as f.f.s. buy the f***ing bass as your driving everyone nuts ?
23.
Lets turn this around: I'm looking for a bass. I'm seriously thinking of a Wishbass (If you don't know them Google it) It's fretless, solidly built, Kent Armstong pup; I like that. Easy to work on, passive, no stoopid tone control that I won't use anyway. No truss rod to complicate set ups. No setting up to do really! All good! https://m.youtube.co...h?v=Np8_Etibv9Q What do you think of it? You don't like it? Why not? Does this mean I can't have one? Does this mean nobody can have one? So, what does it matter if we don't share your idea of the perfect bass? We won't be playing it YOU will.
cool bass if you do make one i would love to take a look as i might have a go myself
24.
I have the best bass in the world. I'll sell it to you for £5.99. Free P&P. Frank.
hmmm...could you fly over with it and bring some extra strings so that i can try it first ?
25.
Is there a shop that sells them? I'd rather that than deal with ebay, frankly.
no... i think one of the way's they keep the prices down is by cutting out shops but if you get one delivered from Thomann and dont like it you can always get your money back
