New one on me. I've had (and still own 4) a good few Ibanez SRs over the years from Prestige down to SR600Es, though I only have two with that kind of bridge. My Premium 5 string SR1305 came used with 45 - 135 strings on it, and was intonated well, though I've since gone down to the 130 B again. Not sure who distributes Ibanez in the UK. Did it used to be Headway ? Someone on here will know, and should be along shortly.

Bought the used in in Bass Direct for £499. It should arrive tomorrow, so I'll have a good look at it. Hopefully, whoever sold/traded it sorted any wee problems. Unless they weren't happy and just got rid Thought the action on the one in the photo was far too high. I know it can be adjusted, but how are these things passing quality inspections ? They're a great idea, but in a pretty sad state compared to the SS34, SS4s etc

As promised (threatened ?), pics of the rest of the Helix and Controller. Boxes are in a new condition also. Didn't bother upping cable pics, but the very long connector between the rack and foot controller, power cable. and USB cables are included. There's also a home printed v3 manual in a folder you can have, and the Line6 Helix USB stick with HX Edit 3.5, and v3.0 manual. Any questions, let me know (Rufus NOT included. The wee photobomber !)

Wouldn't say £700 is budget......or is it ?

@Wombat Sorry I didn't mean that the way it came out. I was answering someone on the Tree of Gum at the same time regarding the Helix Rack I have for sale, and what HX stuff I'd had before. I do thank you for your kind offer of help though. Are you local ?
-
Sorry ? I've had both Floor, Stomp, and currently selling my Helix Rack, but thanks for your kind offer. When I sold my Helix Floor it was in the Line6 bag, and the buyer didn't want the box. I found it again yesterday. Thought it may do somebody's SH Helix ? Thanks again. How are you with Fractal stuff ? 🤣

Thanks. Not Bass Direct, though I think that's the one I've just bought advertised at £499 plus £12 Shipping Said it's setup with a medium action. As long as the nut is OK, I should be able to deal with lowering it.

Not really a puzzle as such, more of a "d'you think this nut should be on a £700 bass ?" I want to buy a SS Stingray, but there seems to be a lot of stuff on here about people receiving basses with faults, even suggesting that some may be seconds. After asking about I received a pic of this nut (dirty and rough looking), and this scratchplate (looks like scratches to me), but at least the controls were straight. Could any SS Stingray owners put a photo up of an example of a good version (obviously the USA EB will be perfect, but I haven't got that kind of money) of said nut ? I'm not usually that fussy about minor details with basses, and I know £700 isn't a lot compared to some basses I've had, but I can't get to a shop at the moment and after some of the comments I'd like to see what the BC hive mind thinks ? Talking about GG returns further up the thread. In light of the comments on here about the drop in quality of the SS Stingrays, I asked the via the online chat could they check the controls, nut and tuners of the model I was interested in. He said no. So I asked him if they could provide pics of the relevent bass (they've done this before without being asked to give me a choice Classic 60s Strats). Again no. I asked what would be the returns policy would be, to be told get it back within 14 days and make my own courier arrangements to get it back to them. Apart from how difficult it is to insure a bass with a UK courier, I'm sure they used to arrange pickup and maybe take the reasonable cost from your refund. If so, this is a big change for them -
No, that's how it starts (say's he with 4 basses, thinks he requires a small scale, and no band )

I came the other way. Drums (not great), learned a few chords from the guitarist in the band, thought that was fine. Took up bass a long, long time ago to help the lead guitarist practice his solos (late 60s, so no backtracks), when realised I loved it. Played bass ever since. I was lucky enough to be in a couple of bands with really good players, which opened my ears to chord progressions, substitutions etc and they were good enough to answer my daft questions. The rest was worked out by ear (which luckily has always been good). I can manage a few solos these days, but really have good ear for arrangements. Having said all that, it's fine going back to bass after a layoff, but it's murder on the fingertips if I leave the 6 string alone for too long You'll be able to work out a lot of chords just using the root note and the arpeggios you would normally use on your bass. Good luck, and have fun

Helix Rack and Helix Control Perfect condition. Lives in it's rack, hardly used, as both it and the foot controller were bought new as a "Belt and Braces" type arrangement when I had my Helix Floor. May as well be new, as not a mark on them. Plastic screen covers still on controller. Never gigged, never left the smoke free house. Still have all the boxes (great condition), cables, v3 printed manual, and Helix USB stick with HX Edit 3.5 Firmware upgraded to the new v3.5. the discount of £99 for Helix Native (£399 normally) has never been claimed. So that's part of the package. Currently £1539 at Thomann, looking £1000 *rack and Peavey rack mixer not included* Paypal, Bank Transfer, Cash, whatever suits Would accept £700 plus a vgc HX Stomp in trade for anyone interested in upgrading ? Would prefer collection with demo, but as I have the original boxes, they could posted, provided buyer pays for courier and insurance, at their own risk. I have good feedback on here, and on ebay under the same name 2pods. Now also on ebay.

I too got fed up with Cubase, despite using it since the Atari ST version. Now using Presonus Studio One 5 (though I believe v6 is out, or about to drop) You can be as easy to use as you like, but it also has the power to match Cubase. Worth a look.

This will sound daft, but what increments are we talking about for the saddle, quarter of an inch, less. more ?

Not long bought this used SR600E from GG. Really like it, but there are a couple of things puzzling me. I'll ask about the second one, once I get this sorted out. First up is the intonation. I thought the strings were a bit stiff the way it was setup, but truss rod looked ok, as did the nut. I'd decided I wanted lighter strings on this anyway, as I didn't like the feel of the (presumably) 105 - 45s, so bought a set of EB Hyper Slinky (100-80-60-40). Put them on, tuned up stretched them thoroughly etc, came to do the intonation to discover all the strings sounded flat. I think the original strings weren't set properly either, even though their blurb said it was, though every other guitar I've bought from them was. This is the first time I've ever had to intonate a bass before, though I'm familiar with the principals etc, but I wondered, is it normal for all 4 saddles to be flat with a string gauge of nearly the same?
