Wot, no "Out On The Tiles " ? ๐ฎ "Gallows Pole" is a stomper too. No bass except Organ pedals on "Since I've been Lovin' You", but one of Pagey's most lyrical solos Must admit that I do prefer I to IV, so I'll need to revisit the later stuff

Had an excellent transaction with Stew. Very friendly and great guy to deal with. He is now the proud owner of my HX Stomp. Thanks Stew

"Savoy Truffle" The Beatles. Apparently a friendly dig from George at Eric Clapton's sweet tooth, at one point singing "...they'll all have to come out"

Best basslines for a FRETLESS beginner?
2pods replied to Zoe_BillySheehan's topic in General Discussion
Danny Thompson on Upright on the older stuff. John Giblin and Alan Thomson on the later stuff. All have great feel, and the bass is usually well up in the mix too ๐ -
I really like the finish on the fretless 5. I still can't make my mind up whether to sell my 1305 Premium. "Right, I'm selling it", then I have a play with it and decide I love it too much. Even if I'm not using it at the mo' ๐

scary stuff. Not like Ibanez either. Usually quality.

Oooh....Imagine a Wal pedal with the pick attack filter. I'd bite their hand off. I would

I remember the charts around 1970 1971 being an amazing variety of stuff. Purple, Sabbath, Freda Payne, Free, and of course the Englebert stuff ๐คฏ

That's nearly the same as my 30th Anni 'cept there are 3 holes in the top on mine and it's a Wenge fingerboard, but the rest is the same. I would recommend it.

Love Nordy Big Singles. Have them on the 4 and the 5.

I think this is also starting to happen to a lesser degree to the big box 2 channel Slide Rig

I know. I used to be the same ๐ Then Ibanez started putting out too many really good bolt ons.

Sussed it...... Neck Through. Excuse the dullness, and offer of the wrong type of bass ๐

Nice Ibby ๐ After buying my SFR500F, I wondered if I should have gone for your exact bass instead. Though I do like mine, I had read somewhere somebody's board was wearing down leaving the black (Plastic ?) fret markers feeling like frets, but that's far in the future hopefully. If I could sneak another bass in, I'd definitely go for the 4 string version of your bass ๐ Sorry, my brain has shut down for a moment. What's "NT" mean ? Still debating whether to sell my fretted 5 string Premium. Don't know if you would be interested ? I'm still thinking about it, so don't feel you have to commit

Not really NBD, as it's just the first time I've plugged it in, but I've been playing it acoustically all week ๐ it's an SRH500F in lovely IKEA Brownburst ๐. I'm amazed at how like the sound I wanted it is. It's very 70's Danny Thompson with John Martyn. Change the EQ and it's Allan Thomson with JM.Great ! Very comfy, but with having the other two SRs I'm used to that neck,. Lovely round sound with plenty of Mwah. Black fret markers are a bit weird. If you can't see them, why put them on ? I'm using the position markers on the neck shoulders. They're fine. I keep thinking maybe I should have got the SH700F, in case the piezo goes down, but that's just my OCD. I'm very happy. Depending on the situation in the NY (if I flog my desktop and Fender G5 or JTV 59 Variax) I may go for for the 700F. Meanwhile, I've always used roundwound strings, but these D'addario ECB81 are perfect for the bass. How long do they last ?
-
I've been debating the very same thing ever since I got the 1305. I'm not using it much, and would prefer a 4 string Premium.
-
Still thinking it over. I don't think I want a 5, as I'm hardly playing the 1305. Most of the You Tube stuff with the 370 is with the old model with the Barts Mk1's, rather than the newer Power Spans. Thanks for your kind offer, but though they are undoubtedly great basses they're not for me. I love the idea of having the choice of the piezo system and the magnetic pups and eq, it's just the lack of lines. The last fretless I had was a Jimmy Moon de-fret of a 80's Aria TSB550. He did a great job (He was doing his own work on a lot of day to day stuff then) and installed a brass "Percussion Plate" at the top of the rosewood board, along with Sycamore strips. I think that cost me about ยฃ60 then. Dog knows how much it would cost to do my 1305 now, and where to get it done ?
-
Still got my 30th Anni SR4 and 1305 Premiums, but would like to add a fretless Ibby. I was looking at the SR370EF cheapie and the SH500F, but can't make my mind up. I see they do a Bass Workshop with both mags and active EQ plus the Piezo Aero Silk system, but as well as being out of my price range, it has no fret lines ๐ข So apart from the price, Is there plenty of mwah from them as they come, or is it the usual cut the nut until the strings are on the board ? I'm into the usuals: Pino (circa Paul Young etc), Jaco, Mo Foster, John Giblin etc. So that's the kind of sound I'm looking (sans that lot's talent and feel of course ๐) So pros and cons ?

I posted this on vguitar.com after selling a Boss GP-10 It was only about 3 to 6 months old, in mint condition, working perfectly when it was despatched, really fast delivery, engaged with buyer when he was moaning that it hadn't appeared by noon as "that's when the Parcelforce van comes" checked the tracking that he could have done himself etc etc. 2 weeks later 14 Feb The buyer ****** created a return ********* Order number ************* Reason for return Doesn't work or is defective Comments Some sound doesnt play and required a GK3 pick Up. 14 Feb You sent a message Message Hi You asked me in our phone call whether there was a GK3 pickup and cable included. I said no, this version doesn't come with it and it clearly states that on the box, and in the manual, you knew you needed the pickup and cable to access the guitar modelling aspect of the unit. You were happy with it. I also told you you that the GK3 pickup was available separately on ebay. I also stated "no returns" in my auction. Seeing it was yourself who raised the question about the optional pickup you were fully aware that it was needed for some functions, yet you still wanted to go ahead with the sale. I'll copy this to ebay to see what they say about it, but I've been both honest and accommodating during this transaction and if you take a detailed look at my feedback you'll see that. 16 Feb You sent a message Message Why are you saying this is defective ? It said in my listing that in order to use the guitar models and tunings you needed a GK3B and a cable. You asked me in a phone call if it came with a GK3 and I said it didn't. Why didn't you say you didn't want it then ? 16 Feb The buyer sent you a message Message Some sound in the bank 90,91,92...doesn't play. 16 Feb You sent a message Message Do these patches have GTR in front of them ? 16 Feb You sent a message Message Can you give me the names and numbers of the patches please 16 Feb You sent a message Message Hi I see what you mean now. If you look up the back of the manual there's a section saying "Sound List". If you read it you'll notice patches from 91 etc onwards say "init" or are blank. These are for storing your own patches. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the unit. 17 Feb The buyer sent you a message Message I would like to return it. 17 Feb You sent a message Message I've just explained why those patches are empty and make no sound. You knew you'd need a GK3 for the tunings and guitar modelling. It was in my listing, and I also told you over the phone. Why are you claiming these things as defects ? I see from your feedback that you've had a Roland GR20, which works exactly the same regarding needing a GK3, so you were well aware of it. 17 Feb The buyer sent you a message Message I used to have roland gr 20 but came with gk3 but yours it is different. Your box is different from other gp10. Il looks take not original. 17 Feb The buyer sent you a message Message Your box looks fake compare to the original. 17 Feb You sent a message Message You're grasping at straws here. I still have the receipt from **********. No fake. What's really wrong here ? You said it said it needed a GK3. I pointed out it was in the listing and discussed it. You said patches 90 odd upward didn't work. I pointed out that they were left intentionally blank by Roland. I also referred you to the manual where it shows that. So what's really the matter ? 17 Feb The buyer sent you a message Message I am not satisfied with the product because I cannot not play all the sounds. I will return it for a refund. 17 Feb You sent a message Message The box is original. You're not satisfied because you have no GK3. SOME sounds can only be accessed with a guitar fitted with it. This was made clear in the original listing, the manual, by me, and you know that's how it works because you've had a GR20. Why did you buy it if you knew you wouldn't be satisfied ? First you complain about the GK3 access (which you know about), then you complain about the user patches (which are intentionally left blank), then you accuse the box of being fake. Did you read the listing ? 17 Feb You sent a message Message The unit does exactly what was stated in the listing. Why did you buy it if you knew it wouldn't satisfy you ? Did you just want to try one ? I'm genuinely interested. 17 Feb You sent a message Message If you are going to return my GP-10, I need to know it's in the same condition I sent it in, everything that was in the box is also returned in the same box. Also you need to pay for a Parcelforce 48. That's fair as I did the same for you. You can send me the tracking number. When it gets here, I'll inspect it, and if it's the same as it was when it was despatched I will give you a full refund. By the last of it I was fed up. eBay wouldn't defend me. I looked up the guy's address with Google Earth. It was a studio in London with CDs for sale, guitar lessons, and lessons in a particular type of Congolese music (I mention this only to give a clue to where the studio is...NOT because of any racial thing. He could be a Leprechaun playing Heavy Rock for all I care). I think basically he wanted my GP-10 for a recording. The thing is he has good feedback, mostly with regard to instrument sales as you would expect for somebody operating a small studio. Luckily it did come back undamaged and working perfectly after it's "Hire". I relisted at the same price and sold it to a very happy customer. I'm still baffled, but I don't think I'll be selling on eBay again. If anyone wants his eBay handle drop me a PM.
