M-Patch 2 Monitor Controller PSU replacement
2pods replied to 2pods's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hoping to get a hold of a multimeter today. I've been put on to a suitable replacement psu by Martin W over at the SOS forums. Fortunately the unit itself is still working -
Hope this is in the right place, but anyway the mods will move it if not... Switched the gear on today (individually as usual, in case of overload) when I noticed no lights on my wee M-Patch 2 monitor controller It's a few years old, and came with a Euro 2 pin plug which I've been using with 2 to 3pin fused adapter. I've tried the 2 to 3 pin adaptor with my razor cleaning wotsit, and that works OK, so I'm assuming it's the actual adaptor. It states on the back it's an "AC/DC Class II Transformer, Input 230v ~ 50Hz, Output 15v DC 200mA, model D35-15-200" Not quite sure which bit of the input barrel to measure, but the diameter is big enough to nearly fit the width of one of 2 pins in. It also seems to be middle of the barrel positive and the outside negative. Any chance of a link to a (preferably UK) replacement ? TIA

Wot, no "Out On The Tiles " ? ๐ฎ "Gallows Pole" is a stomper too. No bass except Organ pedals on "Since I've been Lovin' You", but one of Pagey's most lyrical solos Must admit that I do prefer I to IV, so I'll need to revisit the later stuff

Had an excellent transaction with Stew. Very friendly and great guy to deal with. He is now the proud owner of my HX Stomp. Thanks Stew

"Savoy Truffle" The Beatles. Apparently a friendly dig from George at Eric Clapton's sweet tooth, at one point singing "...they'll all have to come out"

Best basslines for a FRETLESS beginner?
2pods replied to Zoe_BillySheehan's topic in General Discussion
Danny Thompson on Upright on the older stuff. John Giblin and Alan Thomson on the later stuff. All have great feel, and the bass is usually well up in the mix too ๐ -
I really like the finish on the fretless 5. I still can't make my mind up whether to sell my 1305 Premium. "Right, I'm selling it", then I have a play with it and decide I love it too much. Even if I'm not using it at the mo' ๐

scary stuff. Not like Ibanez either. Usually quality.

Oooh....Imagine a Wal pedal with the pick attack filter. I'd bite their hand off. I would

I remember the charts around 1970 1971 being an amazing variety of stuff. Purple, Sabbath, Freda Payne, Free, and of course the Englebert stuff ๐คฏ
-
That's nearly the same as my 30th Anni 'cept there are 3 holes in the top on mine and it's a Wenge fingerboard, but the rest is the same. I would recommend it.

Love Nordy Big Singles. Have them on the 4 and the 5.

I think this is also starting to happen to a lesser degree to the big box 2 channel Slide Rig

I know. I used to be the same ๐ Then Ibanez started putting out too many really good bolt ons.
-
Sussed it...... Neck Through. Excuse the dullness, and offer of the wrong type of bass ๐
-
Nice Ibby ๐ After buying my SFR500F, I wondered if I should have gone for your exact bass instead. Though I do like mine, I had read somewhere somebody's board was wearing down leaving the black (Plastic ?) fret markers feeling like frets, but that's far in the future hopefully. If I could sneak another bass in, I'd definitely go for the 4 string version of your bass ๐ Sorry, my brain has shut down for a moment. What's "NT" mean ? Still debating whether to sell my fretted 5 string Premium. Don't know if you would be interested ? I'm still thinking about it, so don't feel you have to commit
-
Not really NBD, as it's just the first time I've plugged it in, but I've been playing it acoustically all week ๐ it's an SRH500F in lovely IKEA Brownburst ๐. I'm amazed at how like the sound I wanted it is. It's very 70's Danny Thompson with John Martyn. Change the EQ and it's Allan Thomson with JM.Great ! Very comfy, but with having the other two SRs I'm used to that neck,. Lovely round sound with plenty of Mwah. Black fret markers are a bit weird. If you can't see them, why put them on ? I'm using the position markers on the neck shoulders. They're fine. I keep thinking maybe I should have got the SH700F, in case the piezo goes down, but that's just my OCD. I'm very happy. Depending on the situation in the NY (if I flog my desktop and Fender G5 or JTV 59 Variax) I may go for for the 700F. Meanwhile, I've always used roundwound strings, but these D'addario ECB81 are perfect for the bass. How long do they last ?
-
I've been debating the very same thing ever since I got the 1305. I'm not using it much, and would prefer a 4 string Premium.
-
Still thinking it over. I don't think I want a 5, as I'm hardly playing the 1305. Most of the You Tube stuff with the 370 is with the old model with the Barts Mk1's, rather than the newer Power Spans. Thanks for your kind offer, but though they are undoubtedly great basses they're not for me. I love the idea of having the choice of the piezo system and the magnetic pups and eq, it's just the lack of lines. The last fretless I had was a Jimmy Moon de-fret of a 80's Aria TSB550. He did a great job (He was doing his own work on a lot of day to day stuff then) and installed a brass "Percussion Plate" at the top of the rosewood board, along with Sycamore strips. I think that cost me about ยฃ60 then. Dog knows how much it would cost to do my 1305 now, and where to get it done ?
-
Still got my 30th Anni SR4 and 1305 Premiums, but would like to add a fretless Ibby. I was looking at the SR370EF cheapie and the SH500F, but can't make my mind up. I see they do a Bass Workshop with both mags and active EQ plus the Piezo Aero Silk system, but as well as being out of my price range, it has no fret lines ๐ข So apart from the price, Is there plenty of mwah from them as they come, or is it the usual cut the nut until the strings are on the board ? I'm into the usuals: Pino (circa Paul Young etc), Jaco, Mo Foster, John Giblin etc. So that's the kind of sound I'm looking (sans that lot's talent and feel of course ๐) So pros and cons ?
