  1. Brand New Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky long scale 4 string set. Nickel Roundwound 105-85-65-45 £13 posted, or swap for unopened set of EB Extra Slinky (95-70-60-40) or D'Addario 100-80-60-40 roundwounds
  2. I had an original Hofner Violin Bass that I bought for £50, and stupidly sold for the same amount. It was great wee thing. However, I used to put roundwounds on it. I also had a semi-permanent loan of a weird Vox short scale with a coaxial (like a TV aerial) socket. That was good too, and later on a Yamaha BB that was medium scale. I broke the nut on two of them in the same bit of the same song. Sound Control called me "Mr Destructo" and gave me my money back. Long before any of that lot that was a " Top Twenty" 3 string horror. I was very young
  3. I really like the old 32" medium scale Aria TSB basses, but prefer the older ones with the 4 tuners in a line headstock. I have two, a 650N, a 350B, and I'd like my old 550N fretless back. The scale length is a nice compromise between the SG/Mustang 30" and the usual 34" (I've had Stingrays, Precisions, and various Ibanez).

  11. Too many really , but two....................? Ok, two that won't have been mentioned but contain some really tasty playing of the fretless persuasion "Grace and Danger" John Martyn and "Welcome To The Cruise" Judie Tzuke Of course around the same time I was absorbing Level 42 (first), Little Feat etc...but that's two I took a lot from via John Giblin, and the ever tasteful Mo Foster.

  18. Sitting in a bath wearing Levi's. Wasn't that to shrink them to fit, rather than relic-ing them ? Either way, I can't stand these relic finishes. YMMV
  19. Once upon a very long time ago, when I was just getting out of gigging and selling my stuff, I advertised a Ashdown mini stack (ABM500, and 2 x Mini 4x8) on here. A regular (as was I and still am now)came to see it with a view to swopping me a "brand new" Ibanez SGR500 plus a little loot. At least thats what he told me, even specifying the shop he'd bought it from. It was just a pity I had been looking at the same bass the previous week on ebay for a very cheap price from Wales.....and I knew his ebay handle. I was suprised to say the least that he'd try and pull this, but just said "No Thanks". Life's too short, but I have wanted to get it off my chest for years. Luckily, all the other guys I've sold or bought from on here have been great !
  20. Hi Ped I certainly do prefer the old for sale forum. Anything I've sold, I've always made a donation, as I think it's the least I can do. I'd like to keep it the way it is, with a price to advertise your item, but I would have no objection to an annual subscription. Mind you, I'm an old fogie, and have been here pre FBI server heist, maybe the newer members won't agree ? Definitely the old "For Sale" forum for me.
  21. I don't want to moan, and I appreciate that a lot of work must have gone into the new classifieds, but please can we keep the old ones. I don't mind paying up front for an ad. I know it's early days, but the new bit just seems cold, impersonal, and hard to look at. Sorry if I've upset anyone.
  22. It was originally my bass, so I know how good it is. Sorry to see it's moving on, but it's a bargain at this price. Have a bump on me Allan
  23. I know this taken, but could you tell me if the board is big enough for a wah pedal ?
  24. I had two of these. The one above, and then the later version with a built in compressor instead of the contour switch. It had a great sound, just wasn't loud enough, but the preamp out sorted that. The guy I sold mine to has still got them, and uses them in a small trio. I liked them.
