1. Tokai Auction here I'm selling my F25C mid sized Lowden cutaway guitar with branded Lowden Hiscox case and early 80's Tokai TST60 Strat also with Hiscox case, as I need the cash for something else. Lowden F25C 2003 cutaway acoustic with cedar top, rosewood back and sides, 5 piece laminated neck, original Lowden branded Hiscox case £1200 ono Here It's in excellent condition with a cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, 5 piece neck, ebony fingerboard. Handmade in the Newtonards Lowden Guitar factory, I bought it new from the Acoustic Centre a few years ago. It has never been played outside the house, and there are no plectrum, fingerpick, or (God forbid) belt marks. Pics can be seen Here. It comes with the original paperwork from Lowden, reciept from the Acoustic Centre, a special Del Langjens tool for for the truss rod. A brand new spare set of shims and saddles from Lowden (I bought them in case I wanted to back to 12's, D' Addario phosor bronze 11's being on the guitar at the moment) A new one of these will set the buyer back well over £2k, so I'm selling this for £1200 ONO collection preferred. Tokai Goldstar Strat vintage white, rosewood fingerboard, figured maple neck, U marked pickups, Hiscox case £450 ono Plays lovely, some dings with added mojo. Now on ebay here More pics here SOLD Any questions, give me a shout. Thanks Peter
2. Paul, I don't really need another bass, but as you said you're looking for a good acoustic, I may be selling my Lowden F25C with Lowden branded Hiscox liteflite case. More detailed pics can be had here: http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w235/2pods/sale/
3.
I wish all my basses could be made to smell like my Sterling, I guess that makes me a tad on the weird side to!
Have you ever smelled a Lowden acoustic guitar ? I kid you not, there is a definite woody (cedar and rosewood construction) "nice" smell off my F25C. I've had it three or four years and it's still there every time I open the case It's the most expensive air freshener I've ever bought
4. I used two of the Mini 4x8 with a ABM EvoII 500 (all UK made) and found they had plenty of power, and a lot more bottom end than you would think.
5. Thanks for your helpful comments I'm pretty used to editing line6 stuff all the way back to the original Pod and Bod, I had one of each hence "2pods" sad, I know When editing the XT Live, I always use Line6 Edit anyway (saves my back ). I've tried building patches from scratch but I find the preamp EQ's are the problem. It's the lo pass filter stuff again. I'll give it another go later, but I doubt any of the Bass Pack demo tones can be done without the parametric
6. I found it to be similar to this guy's experience bass pack rant
7. Well, after checking out the presets for the bass pod XTLive on the bass model pack, all of them sounded muffled and needed the 4 band eq to be adjusted just to get something out of them. I tried constructing patches from scratch and still found this "muffled" sound (this after Line6 going on about how the Aguilar model is for people who like to hear their callouses scaping the strings !) I used my Ibanez SR1000 prestige with USA barts, Ibanez 3 band EQ, and newish elixir strings It's almost as if the amp models have a filter taking out all the high and hi-mid. However, as I bought it along with the collector and metal packs, I'll probably just keep it.
8. I've just bought the metal, cllector, and bass expansion for my XTlive. Seeing how it was only £100 for the lot, and I'd had a bass pod before, I think there should be something in there that will be good basswise. Still don't like the compressors in the XTLive though, so I'll stick to my Blue Max. If I get time this week (if only), I'll post anything good.

*edit*

What about Zenta ? They were about at the same time but were a slightly better brand of [hiss and mitt]

Compression

I used to love the old TE dual compressor pedals. I've had three or four over the years. They have a good but coloured sound I've also had a TC "Triple C" rack unit which was good. You hear a lot of good stuff about the FMR "Really Nice Compressor" too Both of these are transparent sounding I'm using a half rack Presonus Blue Max which is good, but is a PITA to sit on my EA combo 'cos of the amp strap handle
11. Lesse..... Dark Ages (gas bass) Zenta POS P bass copy - which had 3 strings 'cos I spent the money on a fancy strap CMI P bass copy - I thought this was mine but apparently not Avon EB3 copy - for those Andy Fraser moments Hofner Violin Bass - Why did I sell this (bought it for £50, sold for same) Rising Sun (eastwards...) Ibanez Roadster - great neck. sounded great with Dean Markleys Aria TSB550 - Natural Ash through neck with tapped humbucker 32" scale. I had Jimmy Moon defret this and put a brass slap plate in- another escapee. Aria SB500 Deluxe - twin PU - red metal flake and gold hardware - flash- had a preamp fitted -traded it in for see next bass Fender Precision 89-90, or there abouts - Pewter- it was horrible, traded in for see next bass Ibanez SGR700 - pencil neck with actives - nice small body - shiny black Ibanez SGR1300PM - veritable coffee table with paduak sandwiched body, wenge fingerboard, AFR active PUs and pre - I sold that too- doh ! 20th Anniversary EB Stingray - this was the one OK - slab top with figured maple - custom HB - 3 way eq- sold it when I left my last band - in fact sold it to my replacement Ibanez SR Prestige 1000EFM - good sound-skinny neck- USA Barts and EQ
12. What about EA ? They used to do tilt-back combos and cabs. My iAmp350 1x10 combo sounds great, but deffo couldn't be lifted with one hand over any distance.
13.
I rue the day when I would tweak the truss rod on my Stinger everytime I would want to make a minor adjustment to the string height.
It's a lot easier to give the wheel half a turn, than altering four saddles. (especially if you've marked the wheel's starting point)
14. When our local Business Post guy was delivering a small USB/midi keyboard (really crappy packing, but was all in one piece), I asked him about putting the likes of "Fragile" and "This Way Up" etc on parcels. He said the only reply you'll ever get for breakages is "Insufficient Packaging" He said 'cos of crappy hours and even more crappy wages there are high turnovers in most parcel depots with the bods who are hired not giving two s**ts for any warnings, requests, etc taking them mores as "a challenge" . He also said quite a lot of the workers don't have english as their main language ( so how did they get the job then ?), and use that as an excuse. Frankly, I was shocked I sent a dv camera, a very hefty synth(D50), a weighty chess set (10kg), and a synth module that week. ALL over-insured, all by PO and Parcelforce. Luckily, all arrived OK. Personally, I agree with my delivery guy. Some people are just bad barstewards, and probably take a delight in damaging other peoples stuff I hope you get some compensation for their bad service.
15.
Completely overlooked G&L - I can't say I'm a big fan of their appearance, but they sound great.
What, no Musicman ? (pre and post EB)
16.
FWIW my (allegedly indestructible) Peavey Mark IV is out of commission for exactly this reason. Be wary!
Bit of a strange one, that. Particulary as its all solid state I had a Mark VIII that I used the same way and it was OK. Wonder if they changed specs ?
17.
Hey... I was wondering if it would be a better system to leave feedback by leaving comments on the user profile. That way everybody has a "feedback thread". Also, you wouldn't have to go searching for the person's thread. Just one lick on their user profile. Just a suggestion... what are your thoughts?
I'm not one of the genii who can work this stuff, but if it was in the user profile it would be editable by the user whose profile it was, or not . I don't know. It's an idea though
18. +1 for being a true gentleman when our EA combo deal had to be called off (totally my fault)
19. A happy experience indeedy with the GT6B, but I sold it to you

24.
Oh well, better get it over with (can't remember if I did this before the FBI stole our site) so here goes. I think I may be here under false pretences as I currently have no bass (sold it, working on getting a new one), and am in the process of selling my amp and pedals (except my GT6B) and have recently gave up gigging  (not my fault Guv, honest !) I've played bass for nearly two thirds of my life which makes me nearly vintage (47), after giving up drums (applause from drummers everywhere). I also play the cursed 6-string plank. I am one of a growing number of Bassworlders who profess to live in the "Glasgow-ish" locality, but I am no stranger to soap despite what they say
Hard to think this was nearly two years to the day (29/5/05) when I wrote that, and here we are shifting digs again My amp (Ashdown ABM550, 2x mini8's) was sold, as was the 25th Anni Stingray, and despite saying differently, the GT6B (ta Chris). However, I now have a nice Ibanez SR1000EFM and a cracker wee brute of a EA iAmp 350 combo (Ta Owen), but am still not going back to gigging this year (restuarants don't count !) The name has been the same on BW, BT, and now here.
