1. That is a beautiful P Bass! ^
2. https://youtu.be/qQOqsnzw-TQ I'd never heard of him, then last night his name came up a few times in a discussion about best bassists in the Metal genre. To YouTube! And I found this. And now I'm upset. I know some dismiss this kind of thing as party tricks, but it's still music, and damn impressive. Look at the stretches in his left hand!
3. I know there's a thread but it's 5012 pages long so I've started a separate thread to ask a specific question. Mods feel free to lock/delete once the question os answered How do the necks on the 4 string Sire MM V7 compare to that of a Squier or Fender Jazz? Are they any thicker? I like the look of them but you can't try them out because only Thomann stock them. I like a shallow neck and wouldn't want to order one in the future if it's a chunky-ass neck.
4. Fender Jazz Bass. Genz Benz amp.
5. Thanks for sharing this. Wonder what Cliff would've done musically had cruel fate not intervened.
6. Jeez, this thread took a left!
7. As a qualified journo and an amateur bassist, I would cut somebody's throat for a job at that mag. I would seriously LOVE that.
8. Yeah, I did some Googlery, saw it was included in the student pack and quickly rejected the offer. thanks chaps Thought somebody would've pounced on my Sterling at £199, but no!
9. So my Sterling Sub Ray4 is up on Gumtree. I've only had it since February, but we just don't see eye to eye. In my ad I said I would consider a possible swap or px deal for a Squier VM Jazzer or similar. A chap has emailed me offering his Indonesian-made Squier Starcaster Jazzer along with "some cash" - he doesn't specify how much - coming my way. I dunno the first thing about these basses, never heard of them, so here I am humbly seeking information from my Basschat brethren. What is this bass on a par with in the current Squier range? Affinity Series?
10.
I've always thought that the Dallas theme tune was a cracking piece of music.
Superb piece of music!
11.
I read an article posted via a link in the basses for sale section of BC about these - it's unconfirmed, but rumoured that they're the pups used in the Squier CV Precision bass.
12. Considering upgrading the neck pup in my Squier VM PJ Precision bass. After a bunch of reading and YouTubery, I read an article posted via a link in the basses for sale section of BC about these - it's unconfirmed, but rumoured that they're the pups used in the Squier CV Precision bass. If that is indeed the case, I'm in. They're stoopidly inexpensive and the CV P basses sound killer - just what the doctor ordered. Reviews are thin on the ground and soundbites appear to be non-existent. All I know is what I read on the Tonerider website, so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience playing or hearing the Tonerider Precision Plus pickup?
13. Oooooo dang that's a nice bass!
14. I detest Primus' music, but the musicianship is just bonkers level. What a quandary. Would probably go, purely to marvel at the latter - buuuuuut once again they don't do Scotland. Les is a Rab C Nesbitt fan!
15. MA: solid, dependable, and has more ability than he gets credit for. Judging by Sammy's statement, Mike was all about the band, committed and professional. I always had a question mark over Eddie. Read a lot of interviews with him years ago and I just never warmed to him as a geezer.
16. Yeah, I learned this in my guitar days. Solo is absolutely murder, but what a feeling when you nail it. Pat gets little credit as bassist, but he back Nuno up brilliantly, solidly and held it together to let his guitarist wander off and do the leads. Great funk section in the pre-solo bit of this song. I should point out I probably nailed the guitar solo once. Ever.
17. Eric Johnson claims to be able to hear the difference between a gold jack or not on a lead. I also read he claims to know by listening whether a pedal is powered by a Duracell battery or not, but I'll assume that was a joke.
18. Team Sammy all the way! Before it kicks off, I think EVH's rhythm guitar work is blinding but I can't stand 80% of his lead playing.
19. I dunno how to embed a vid. Sometims it lets me and other times it doesn't, so I'll just list them: Theme from The Rockford Files (Mike Post knows what he's doing) Theme from The Professionals Starsky and Hutch ANYTHING by Lalo Schifrin ANYTHING by Ennio Morricone and Vince DiCola's work from Rocky IV will always have a special place in my heart. oh, and John Williams's score from the original Star Wars trilogy is just some of the most amazing musoc ever.
20. Stone Temple Pilots - Core Tool - Aenema Guns N Roses - AFD
21. We have solved nothing here! This is the debate which will divide musicians until the end of time!
22. I'm not 100% sure on the exact definition of growl either, or how it differs from burp, but I imagine it as an emphasis on the lower end of the midrange? Someone postes a video a while back of GUN doing 'Better Days' in a rehearsal studio.......was that bass tone growl or burp? I think I hear growl on the first RATM album.......yes?
23. Dropped the asking price on my Sterling in a bid to make this happen. I need this bass!
