1. I've had a new MB800 for a few months now and it has totally reliable so far.....hope it stays that way, really enjoying it
2. More Pics
3. For sale is my Barefaced Big Baby T, with Roqsolid cover. Immaculate condition, only used by me for jazz gigs, so hasn't been pushed or transported in vans. There are a couple of scratches on one of the metal corners, and a generation 3 handle is fitted. The only reason for this sale is the purchase of another Barefaced cab, and that would make three....I don't need three! £475.00 delivered in the UK, no trades thanks. 4. My first bass was a Tuxedo Bass, it looked very similar to yours. £10 in 1973, must look for pics of it. I remember the pickup response being different on each of the strings...it was the same pickup as yours. trip down memory lane...thanks.
5.
If I was in the market for a new jazz sixer I'd be looking at this from Xotic... never played one but think it looks great. To be honest I'd personally try and avoid having two basses instead of a single sixer... I'm trying to get down to carrying as little as possible to gigs. In truth I could get away with a fiver for 90% of what I do with bands, but I do need the high C for a few tunes so I decided that a sixer was the way to go. My aim is to get down to one fretted sixer and a fretless.
I have 2 5 string versions and they are best all-round basses i've played. Again subjective to taste....I'd visit bass direct and try one.
6. Sold, subject to the usual....
7. Should have said, no trades thank you. Iain H
8. Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 with Genz gig bag. This has been my main amp for a few years now. It has been reliable and is in good condition…some very small marks on the case as anyone would get moving the amp to gigs. £350 including UK mainland delivery.
9. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242925-peavey-100w-tko-115/ But the deals above at gear4music look much better!
10. I have an NE2, great bass, I'm not aware of any internal tweaks.
11. I've used rounds and flats on my fretless and prefer rounds, i think you do get more mwah. Both rounds and flats have a nice distinct sound and have a place in different styles of music. I tried half rounds and they went in the bin....sounded like someone's very old rounds that should have gone in the bin many years before.....only my opinion I wouldn't worry too much about the slight marks on the fingetboard, ebony does that as well.
12.
Wow! Great hair. AND it looks like you've got the perspex ashtrays, too! Do you still own this bass?
Unfortunately not, i sold it to buy a 75 Jazz, which turned out to be dog....but i was desperate for a Fender at the time. The Jazz went and was replaced by a P that i have just recently sold...had it for 38 years!. The hair is also gone and what's left is grey...lol
13. Back in the 70's

15. The 9.0 and 9.2 shuttles are very similar,it was the 6.2 that had the hpf changed from the 6.0. The 9.2 has 3dpm, this is a valve compression emulation on the power amp section. It is said that it's not worth changing a shuttle 9.0 for a 9.2, but the 6.2 has more girth than the 6.0 and is noticeably better. The Shuttlemax is a physically bigger amp with a valve channel and a FET channel Both channels have the addition of lo mid and hi mid and also tone shaping filters that can be varied in level. The power amp section is the same as the shuttle.
16. I found the Streamliner 900 was too bass heavy and had a mid hole with my Big Baby T, although i liked it with my Midget T. Shuttle 9.0 and Shuttlemax 9.2 are great with both, although i have to use the bass boost with the Midget.
17. Barefaced BB2 or a Midget T if weight is all. Don't be tempted as i was with an EA wizzy10, it'll fart out at living room volumes and has no LF to talk of!
18. Bump for a great bass, i have a fretless one and would like a fretted version, but would like an Orange 22 fret version with HRI. I also have no money, so it will have to wait a while!
19. I keep a spare valve just in case, but have had no issues in 5 years. I also keep an Agie tone hammer handy just in case....paranoia or good sense?
20. I've found the mat to be a good solution, but yes if feet were stickier it would be more convenient.
21.
To answer the original question, to counter lots of happy owners who ARE happy with the streamliner. I sold mine because of it's inherent sound ... ie. it's big heavy bottom, and inherent mid scoop. Yes you can get it almost flat by reducing the bass big time and either scooping it's 220Hz mids OR boosting it's 600Hz mids. But for me that is still too scooped. I like mids and this amp simply doesn't deliver in that area for me. From my memory my cab at the time was a Genz 8x10 XB3, certainly not a mid-shy cab. The EQ allows you to boost cut either 220Hz, 600Hz or 1500Hz on it's mids control. However, if you boost one of them, I still notice the gap elsewhere. For many owners this simply isn't an issue as they are looking for a different sound but for me it was a deal-breaker.
+1, says it all
22. Bump for a great bass
23. I was the original owner, that's my initials on the label. Great bass. my to go for 16 years
24. I use a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2 and switch between fretted and fretless....2 channels on a footswitch, so I can set up different eq, but like many bass amps it only has one one input, so I need an AB switch as well. The Glock Blue Sky sounds nice.
