A picture update – I collected my neck from the Royal Mail (Royal Fail?) earlier. It looks and feels great, although obviously I’ve not used it yet It’s lovely and thin like all good Jazz necks should be, and has some nice looking grain patterns:
MB1. This can't be right?... that necks still in one piece!
Hi Chris Thanks for your reply. I've sanded the surface pretty thoroughly and have applied several coats of bleach. I'm a bit worried that the previous owner has used something pretty powerful to stain the body as nothing is touching it? Chris
MB1. May be in need of a good coat of SIMS (The Martin Variety!)
I'm selling this lovely looking pre-EB Stingray from 1977 (serial: B006) In almost new condition. Everything original, and the electronics work great. This Is the best looking vintage Stingray I have ever seen Only damage I could find is a small dent near the strapbutton under the bass, and a small 'red' stain in the finish, at the bottom of the bass, near the controls. This stain is from the interior of the case were this bass has been put for 25 years. Very special bass. It will be very hard to find another one in this shape. Pics! More on request..... I'm asking 2550 euro's for this bass. Not really interested in trades. But it never hurts to send me a proposal. Although there has to be cash involved. I like older Fenders, Celinders, but let me know if you have something else. I would strongly prefer a pickup deal. In Amsterdam, or meet somewere (at the border) If you live in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany etc. The original case (with the red interior!) is included. Cool for the vintage vibe, but not really suitable for shiping.
MB1. Santa Claus You have P.M!
I agree, but such is the nature of these things I'm not sure of the value. Rics tend to fetch a fair amount and interest would be an indicator of desirability. What would YOU suggest
MB1. Opening start prices just recently on ebay have been £800..... A blue one made £1100+ and apparently Rickenbacker have put up there current new prices. There is also a waiting list for new basses.......So only you can come up with a realistic figure depending on how quickly you want shut of it, or need the money??
Well, when I say “Celinder Clone”, I only mean that the body shape has been cloned from a Celinder – Slightly smaller than a traditional Jazz body. This is just a teaser (cos I don’t have all my parts yet) – It has a mahogany core with mildly quilted redwood top and rear, with a sycamore veneer under the redwood top. I’ve damped it down to show off the grain :brow: More to follow shortly (I hope)
MB1. Damped it Down?.....Surely Not?
This is a great bass fuzz. Based on the orignal pickle pie which itself is based on the swollen pickle and muff Matt at Wren and Cuff has created a classic fuzz. It has 4 controls including a blend and runs off 9 volf and can be daisy chained. Has velcro on the bottom for pedalboard attachement. Its in very good condition and has hardly been used and i'm just not using it at the moment. Check out the Wren and Cuff site for a soundclip and more info. With the drop in the pound/dollar rate plus custom charges and the wait this is i feel fair price. Looking for £100 plus P&P If there is interest i can put up some photos.
MB1. Get Yourself a Tray of Hollands Meat !...ya cant go wrong!
I'm not sure, it is made from 4 pieces so I would say its probably basswood. You can lightly see the grain through the finish. All I can re-iterate is that it sounds very Fenderish and most people unless they are a basschat Fender Anorak would think it was a Fender.
MB1. Anorak???...i prefer a coat!.....Speaking of which! 'Ave a BUMP!
