1. MB1. After nipping down to my local sound control and seeing what there asking for new ABM gear which isnt British made,i have decided to keep hold of these for the time being.I fired the rig up yesterday and to be honest it sounds great, is in as new condition and is ,totally portable.Even if its only gonna be used on a occasional basis id rather do that than lose money hand over fist on it. Many thanks to all who showed an interest. Martin.
2. MB1. Martin Simm of Sims LEDS,does resprays and refinishing ,you could take a look at his website, cant see him being dead cheap, but it will be a pro job.

4. MB1. What sort of serious money are we talking here?
5.
well after protracted arsing around including haircuts, tyre changes and bit of a (70 mile) detour to pick up a mate of mine, visits to PMT in Birmingham, etc... I went to Manchester. By the time we got there, we only had time for a stroll along Oxford Road. Johnny Roadhouse had some moderately interesting and fairly priced stuff I thought, but lots of cheap (budget) stuff as well. Nice Stingray in the window, couple of 70s strats that sort of thing. Sound Control seemed to have not much stock and even less customers although they did have a couple of Warwicks hanging up. Their Gibsons are hung so high on the wall that nobody could pick and play one - perhaps that's the way they like it. The contrast was Music Ground - which had the most stunning display of instruments I'd seen in ages and helpful fellas too - stocked proper Gibson parts (needed a jackplate) and George L's cables cut to size. Some really really really nice stuff too and I'd have probably stayed all afternoon if I'd had time. Didn't get a chance to go to sounds great and after the stroll into sound control, i couldn't really face going to Salford. Top stuff MB1. shame you didnt get to salford sound control, they have stock in, and dont look as if there just about to cease trading!
6.
Hi guys As I thinking about this just recently I was wondering what would be expectedf me if I joined a Prog or instrumental rock band for the first time? What I mean by that is would I need to be able to read, play complex lines and different time signatures, playing abillty, good theroy, play an extended range on the bass (i.e. 5, 6 string), gear etc. The reason I ask is because I'd love to join a band when I start uni in london very soon but at the same time I wouldn't know what to expect as I've never been in a proper band before. I tend to like listing to alot of steve vai, joe satriani, symphony x and anything that tends to have alot of playing in regarding guitar and drums etc and my playing seems to lean on technique regarding slap and tapping but I'm also my theroy is alright and building off that and trying to expand into more adv stuff aswell as other things. The only thing I don't own or play on is a 5 or 6 string bass, just a 4. Hope you can give me a heads up? Phil MB1. just............... a 4 ?
7.
going to Manchester on Saturday - thought I might have a bit of a wander around the guitar shops for a bit of a nosey while I am there. Prices aren't an issue as I don't plan on spending any money as any spare money I do have will go on Mr Silverfoxnik's BB615. Any good ones I should go and check out? I know there are places like Forsyth's and there's a big Dawson's as well - anywhere that I should be having a wee look at MB1. Hello john Get on Oxford road Manchester, theres JOHNNY ROADHOUSE,MUSIC GROUND(.across from the BBC),and ALSO SOUND CONTROL,all on the same road all walking distance.

11.
JayDee Supernatural - love/hate styling (OTT '80's) but play & sound cool Also played a mate's pair of Wal Mk 1 Pro-Basses recently; Shergold styling with naff headstock but the holy grail of fretless tone. Yes,I'd love one! MB1. In a John Mcenroe vocal styley!......"YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!".
12. ='bass_in_ya_face' date='Aug 28 2007, 11:04 PM' post='52025'] Prejudice & Pride by Private Lives. Rare as chicken's teeth but I got a copy and listening to it I was immediately drawn to how fantastic the bass was and after further investigation....step forward Mr Nick Beggs. A seriously under rated player IMHO. He totally makes the album in much the same way as Pino Palladion makes No Parlez. (except for the abomination that was Paul Young's take on 'Love Will Tear Us Apart', nothing could save that!) MB1. +1 Theres more to Nick than "Too Shy" indeed..... genuine nice guy sent me a signed copy of his Ellis Beggs and Howard cd.Check out "Big bubbles no troubles" hes a great Chapman Stick player too!
13. MB1. A drummer, two guitarists, and a keyboard player, are always good to have on hand, when you meet a singer! Best of British sir!
14. MB1. Definately the moon! the wolves are howling at!

MB1. You can in fact buy quite a lot if youve got a spare £2000, being left handed shouldnt make a difference, glad to help!!

19. MB1. Just think yourself lucky, its not been designed by BMW another well known German bass /designer/manufacturer!......Beautiful Plumage!
20.
The last band I saw were pretty terrible and did a 50/50 mix of originals and covers. I enjoyed the covers because they made me laugh and smile a bit. The original stuff was very samey. Even though the covers were ropey at least they made me move a bit. To be fair, the bassist and drummer were carrying the whole thing. The guitarists and vocals were bloody awful - even more so on the covers.
MB1. Not Guilty,yer honour!
21. MB1. Too Expensive!me thinks, keep checking the usuals.Do Rickenbacker charge extra for left hand models?,if they do i cant see it being anywhere near £2000.Stick an ad in the items wanted on the forum! You never can tell!Good Luck!.

MB1. Sold a Warwick Blonde thumb to Pete smooth transaction no problems, great communication, bass delivered to Pete from Manchester, not a roundtrip journey for the faint hearted, forgot about the bank holiday weekend traffic the m6, was caravans on the way back, enjoyable drive though and couriered safely. All the best Martin.
23. MB1. Honesty is the best policy, tact should be the order of the day,you need to move on as quickly as possible......."Mr...(fill in the blank)...we no longer require your services"...NOT...." You couldnt carry a tune in a bucket, your crap, F**K O*F. The latter may cause damage to you, members of your band, your instruments, your car, friends, family, relatives, unborn children etc!
24. MB1 Used to own a red active one(had two all told), similar to the one shown, which seems to be passive.
