Woah tanc, i honestly hadnt seen that, theres no reason for you to go anywhere, this is the best bass forum ,strangely like the art of bass playing it is predominantly male and has been for many years.however,if you can put up with guys being guys, girls can be girls on here too!youll find this site to be a most informative 100% all bass bassers type bass thang! sort of! not a huge mistake ,as for free speech! feel free!......................my apologies! all the best MB1.
ah well, seems like you cant please all the people all the time!did try!
The first that appealed to me about Debra Killings is her playing, soulful and funky, and yeah the fact the TRB is almost the size of her but Luke's right it's nice when a female bassist does come along, but we've debated this before on Bassworld haven't we?
MB1. Get over it josh!if your male and you like women bass players, and comment on the fact, your a sexist. if you like male bass players, and mention the fact, your george michael??????obviously!
Honest guys. Believe it or not this is why we don't have a lot of women on this bass forum. Some of the comments written above some are pretty sexist and really not called for. We have every right to play bass, or any other instrument. I don't go around and saying how great a male bassist is and look at the size of his package...ok..Magnus Rosen is an exception PLEASE if you can't handle a woman playing bass, then this world is pretty sad.
MB1. The only person with a problem seems to be you,men like women(unless you happen to be gay)and the fact shes a good bass player is a plus point. im not saying"id walk over a mile of broken glass on all fours, backwards just to gargle in her dirty bathwater" i dont think shes that good!
I've always wanted to be able to do good 'slap n pull. Can't do it. Watched the vids...no help. Same with tapping, it sounds good (in the right context) but alas not for me. To compensate I have developed 'reasonable' finger technique and happily play most music styles where this technique suites. It would be nice to be able to 'impress' at Jamnights, but for every person who thought 'whooyarr' there would be one who thought T***pot.
MB1. You cant please all of the people all of the time.dont let that put you off trying!

MB1. Keeps getting weirder and weirder this, sorry to hear about your dad mate, seems i hit a nerve there, or at least your dad did anyway.paul mccartney could perhaps make a song out of that"dont go pissing on cattlefence"??or chasing polarbears either indeed.before anybody thinks im having a go at paul mccartney, im not, he actually did write that, about the polarbears and frogs as well.innovative and informative!!!bassbloke always iffy buying a discontinued high tech amp off anybody regardless of what your thinking of doing with it(this includes urinating on it).amps like tvs do store a certain amount of power so i wouldnt recomend urinating on them switched on or off. MB1.
-
MB1. some good advice there kiddies from your uncle old git!take heed!!!make sure you disconnect the peavey from the mains supply before urinating on it.

MB1. I was not the first to mention a pedalboard and they do include amp modeling on various pedalboards as well as on various amps. i dont think any of the modeling amps or pedalboards are accurate just my view, which im entitled to.you dont have to take it as gospel,Or get upset about it! FREESPEECH!!!AIR YOUR VIEWS ON BASSCHAT.CO.UK MB1.

MB1. The original question was are modeling amps accurate.i dont think they are, my opinion ,thats why i dont use them,as for using other effects i use them sparingly as i do like the sound of my bass ,i dont wish to colour its sound with effects end of story.if you dont like it ,tough, everybodys entitled to an opinion. personally i wouldnt piss on a peavey bam if it was on fire, each to there own! MB1. Anybody know who the bass player is/was on patrice rushens forget me nots. MB1.
-
MB1. Thanks guys, kind of thought that might be the case the quality of sound was great just couldnt get any reasonable volume out of it,it would definately not compete with our drummer, but as you say great for home use and still excellent value for money. many thanks! MB1.

MB1. Went to sound control today to check out one of these amps.aha in the corner there it was very nice.first thing it has two speakon leads going into 2 mag cabs which i noticed were both rated at 8 ohm(£149 each so i was told even though i didnt want to know!)anyway i fired it up,first impressions, its not very loud, nice sound, nice graphic eq no volume.i got the instructions out and its actually for use with 4 ohm speakers.after attempting to explain this to the assistant he told me the mag speakers were £149.now bear in mind i was trying to tell him the amp was attatched to the wrong speakers?.anyway he soon dissapeared( and brought me back a ashdown brochure )and i had a quick look round at the ashdown stock. the only speakers i could find rated at 4 ohm was an ashdown 8x10.so in theory id have to rig the amp up to 2 ashdown 8x10s to get a full 250 watt from the amp?ashdown cabs have one jack and one speakon connector unless youve got the older ones.i unfortunately have the older ones rated at 8 ohm each(mini 15,mini 4x8) so this was beginning to look like a waste of time.im not entirely sure about this so please correct me if i am wrong, is the output of the amp effectively halved if you connect a 8 ohm speaker to a 4 ohm amp?sound control had connected 2 x 8 ohm cabs to a 4 ohm amp,is this why the amp was so quiet?.overall i thought the sound was quite good, played a warwick thumb and a stingray through it nice sound but to be honest ive heard louder practice amps.ive looked through ashdowns catalogue and they do very few 4 ohm cabs so this is not really the bargain i expected.can anybody throw any light on this matter and has anybody whose bought one of these amps had this problem?.i didnt purchase one! MB1. Hello the message i was attempting to get across is exactly what bod 2 has said ,but mine seems to have been misinterprated, and kinda blown out of proportion, ive seen many bands overdo things with too many effects where its just not neccesary.theyre nice to have but using them sparingly can often be more effective.sometimes its the less the more.by the way MR PED ive been in the studio on many occasions and have never felt i needed to use a mass of effects to get a good sound.there arent many engineers who are willingly gonna give you a crap bass sound, especially when its there reputation and often livlihood at stake.last time i was in the studio the engineer was actually a bass player himself which was nice!
