Cheers. I specifically didnt want an active bass otherwise i was looking at the Deluxe. What strings do you use?
I use Elixir and find 45,65,80,100,125,works best for me on 34" scale bass, and 45,65,85,105,130 on my 35" scale bass.
Three is exactly the right number of basses to have. Anybody with three basses is clearly awesome. S.P.
Well i am probally not awsome, but three is now the magic number for me...main/backup/one to spoil me..

I have the P5 deluxe, which is active and the split pup has been changed on the new model,so not sure how they would compare soundwise, the neck is slightly bulky, but i find no problem playing even with my small hands The B string is excellent on this one..and with the eq flat,it sort of produces a passive P tone, but when i get round to it,i may change the preamp which is not doing the bass justice IMO,and maybe the pups as well.. But even as it is i really like the sound...best of luck with yours
There was a 5-string in the cheaper version the XK=5. It seems to be the same design but cheaper parts, so no Sprezels, EMGs or Schaller bridge. It's J-J pickup configuration and available in black only. I've not seen one for sale since they were discontinued. Also the XK basses sell for same price second hand as the XLs so they're not as good value for money.
Thats a pity only choice of black...i really like the colour of this one..

Do you know if they made a 5 string version?

Oh and did I mention the crack in the body!
bassmanady replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It baffles me the price it has reached so far, considering the state it is in...but its a vintage Fender with history, so what do i know...i thought the crack maybe the glue joint giving up caused by the wood drying out, perhaps it has had excessive temperature changes with heat and moisture,sun/central heating etc..look how rusty the bridge is methinks -
Prices falling???.Not if your lucky!!
There's one on now for BIN £995. Not the same one is it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Overwater-Progress-3...id=p3286.c0.m14
No thats mine, which i have had for sale on here for a few weeks with no luck...i dont think i will be lucky enough to get 2 bidders again like the one mentioned..but IMO i am not too sure about the bidding on the other one just running away like that, seemed a bit iffy to me as already mentioned...but of course may be wrong -
I say good luck to the player who sold his Overwater Progress 3 5 string(36" scale neck) on ebay last night...with just 2 bidders bidding it up to £1400...which is probally a fair price i hear all you Overwater owners say
Minder was transcribed in a late 90's copy of Bassist magazine. It provided me with lots of fun trying to play that. Cracking. If anyone wants a copy of the transcription then drop me a line (although its back at my parents somewhere so 'please allow 28 days for delivery' )
Beat me to it..it was in issue April 98...
Yes, I'm really sad it has to go for such a low price. I'm only selling it because I need the money. It just seems such a pointlessly meagre amount. It's definitely a buyer's market at the moment, that's for sure.
Hi Douglas i have to agree with the price being low,i have a Progress 3 for sale on the site at £900 and no interest at all,but i am more fortunate that i dont need to sell for the money,so will probally end up keeping it for the time being,Ady

I have been buying and trying out a few basses over the years, and this 2006 MM SR5 HH in natural finish is is one of them, with a really nice wood grain, and maple neck. Its in near mint condition,no dings or scratches to the body or neck which is in very clean condition, the only real signs of use is the very fine marks on the scratchplate. Comes with the OHSC which is in excellent condition also... I am looking for £750 Any questions please ask will get back a.s.a.p...
Lovely looking bass, Ady! Back in the mid 90's I had a Nathan East TRB-5 (wish I'd never sold it!) & now have a non-piezo TRB-6 II which I wouldn't change for anything! Excellent score, mate.
Thanks, the Nathan East model you mention was a bass i wanted to buy about the same time you had yours...i remember it being just that bit too expensive for me at that time so i missed out.. For a short while i had a 6 string TRB 5P2 ,but again the weight was too much...it had a beautiful bubinga top,.. -
Brilliant workmanship on these basses. What does it sound like?
Good versatile bass,is the best i can say,the piezo works well, and the mid range control is spot on for me,i find it's smooth and beef's up the sound well to cut through the band mix.. -
I had one of these last year and sold it...due to it weighing in at nearly 11lbs..had it not been so heavy a definate keeper..but my back could not handle it for any lenght of time.. Anyway i have missed the sound and versatility of this bass badly since selling it and decided to buy the first one that came up for sale...no matter what!..and live with the pain because they are great basses IMO Here it is,same spec as the previous one..but only weighs 9 1/2lbs..i just could not believe a bass could vary that amount, thats a whole pound less, and sounds just as good...
I bet that's a tight B string. You would need hands like Spider Crabs to fret from the first to the fourth on that B string. What a nice bass at a great price. Good luck.
Yes tight B string.....first to fourth...not too bad even with my stumpy fingers...nice bass great price indeed -
I have been buying and trying out a few basses, and this amazing Progress 111 deluxe is one,and although its an exceptionally well made bass, very versatile....for me its not quite the sound i was looking for.., i now have 4 basses the latest being my Yamaha, which is now my main bass, and i only really want 2 or maybe 3 basses so i am selling this and another later, when i can decide which one also may also have to go,... This bass is just too good to be used occassionally. It was made in October 2002,and has a 36" scale neck, 3 Band eq, Pickups are J/MM with pull up on the volume control for J/J set up. Comes with a Hiscox case There are a few very minor dings here and there but nothing serious, otherwise excellent condition. Looking for £950...a bargain as these basses are well over 2 grand new Any questions please ask i will get back as soon as i can.. .Ady
