2. I had an attempt on drums for about a year, just fancied having a go,and did do a couple of dep gigs with a band,(think they were a bit forgiving tho)As you mention the noise when practising annoys everybody for some reason :dont know why. Apart from not being good enough,it was the setting up and dismantling of the kit that put me off....but the experience was well worth it... On one occassion the drummer was stuck in traffic and i set his kit up and sound checked it for him,the band was impressed. So good luck with the bass playing
3.
sold on ebay t'other day I believe.
For £600
4.
*I still want it back.*
Neck aside,i really liked the look and sound of the Jaydee,i have dug out recordings of some original songs, and it sounds incredibly good.....i think if i went back to 4 string basses i would want mine back too
5. I see this early model has a one piece bridge
6. I can understand your rant,i have never had a drummer leave without giving notice,or helping out until we found a replacement..
7.
Jaydee Mark King in opalescent white, 1986. Bought it through Hessey's in Liverpool for cost, £795, Colin was the best music shop manager in history. Bound neck and headstock, full of dead spots, could never get the action right. Has a chip out of the finish by the controls. Sold it in 1996 for £450 and an Alesis Midiverb, what a tit. I know who has it and Beerdragon has tracked him down in North Wales but he doesn't want to part with it. Boohoo.
Thats interesting to know about the neck,i found mine the same, sort of easy to flex is the only way i can describe it.
8.
I'm very much open to trades and part exchanges. Warwick SS1 5 string Stingray 5 - single pickup Lakland 55-01/02 Lakland Bob Glaub Lakland Joe Osborn 5 Fender Precision - CIJ, MIA, even a MIM if it's one of the 50's reissues I'm really being quite open minded about this next move- 4 or 5 string basses. I'm also after an intel mac mini at some point.
Have sent PM
9. I personally have never found adjusting the neck relief on a bass,or changing strings creating a dead spot, that was not already there. as nearly every bass i have bought needed new strings, and an adjustment because i like a very low action. Needless to say new strings, improve tone, sustain, maybe its a duff string as you suggest. Maybe the new strings just brought the bad E string to the fore?
10.
what you think about it? i have bassman 250/115 combo its loud sounds ok but dunno why I would like to swop it for ashdown abm 2x10 combo.. just can't thind anyone for swop..
If i was to go back to using a combo,it would be a 2X10,i personally think its best generally for most styles of music, then add a 1x15 ext cab to it if needed I have not tried the Ashdown abm 2x10 combo, but they are very good amps.
11. When my mrs wonderfull visits my studio she only says"how long before that ones on Ebay, your never happy with your sound"... ouch!! she's so right

13.
I know mine do, and they're old Fenders. SHAZAM!
Yes been meaning to mention can you change your avatar,i just cant stop droolling every time it shows up!!
14. A comment a guitarist made a few years ago, which really surprised me, at the time i was using this really expensive bass, and in conversation he said "I dont 'arf miss the thump of a Fender precision",so even guitarists notice, well this one anyway
15.
Well I bought this for a really good price from a nice bloke on ebay about a month ago
Well that would be me then ...the single coil setting was pretty much my favourite, then kicking in the series setting for more humbucker punch..great bass Good luck with sale Russ
16. These are superb basses, and very versatile, mine had a maple top...a great looking and sounding bass in my opinion..have always regretted selling it
17. I have just recently bought a P5 deluxe, the last Precision i owned was in 1976,so there have been many expensive basses inbetween What i like about the Precision, for me anyway, its a no nonsense sound, plug in and play without to much twiddling, which i almost always tend to do. Also the low B is very pleasing on this one, unlike some other makes at twice the price!!
18. Its the local guitar shop that worries me
19. My first 5 string bass that i bought in 1990 was a warwick thumb,i went to the Bass Centre to look at a Status, and came away with this, probally because it was the only one in the shop that had L.E.D's on the edge of the neck,i dont recall any problems with the neck dimensions, the only thing that annoyed me was the stringers were very slightly proud of the rest of the neck profile, which was noticeable when playing. It ended up making way for a Wal 5.
20.
I bought a Q5 without playing one first, and found it to be quite neck heavy.Nice bass tho' although i sold it after 3 months only because i could not get on with a graphite neck.
My judgement on the Q5 is only in comparison to some other fives i have owned, which for me had better strap on balance, but then i have had far worse.
21.
These are stonking basses - I was very lucky to get my mitts on the aforementioned Passion III, formerly of Ped's arsenal of bass doom. I have to say, it is now my main bass and has succeeded in stopping me from even contemplating picking up my two fantastic Warwick Streamers since I got it. It's so comfortable it may as well play itself, fingerstyle and slap are so easy and considering its a 5er, I have no trouble with it whatsoever in terms of string spacing and the neck profile is sublime. Its safe to say I will never sell mine - so someone please take advantage of this and buy a great bass before my overdraft takes a battering!
The neck profile is sublime,i could not think of a better word myself,so thanks for that Luke.
22.
hello...lovely bass! what scale is it? also what's the string spacing at the bridge and nut please. cheers, carl
Hi Carl the scale is 34" with string spacing of 17mm bridge;9mm at nut.cheers Ady
23. I now see Bass Direct will be stocking Vigier basses ,and the new model Arpege 5 are bolt-on necks, and the MRRP is £2736. ..As far as i am aware they will only be making a limited run of thru-neck models, which are probally going to be more expensive .If you check their website they give a detailed description of the bass, the only main difference from mine is the electronics
24. We play regulary at three venues with sound limiters,at these the whole band use the Shure PSM 200 IEM.,system. The drummer uses an electronic kit,and everyone DI's into the desk,so we now have no problem with the limiters,as the sound is being totally controlled by the desk.I agree they are damm expensive for what you get,but they really work well for us.
25. I bought a Q5 without playing one first, and found it to be quite neck heavy.Nice bass tho' although i sold it after 3 months only because i could not get on with a graphite neck.
