C'mon. You have to tell us who it is. After all, you're using the celebrity connection as a selling point. It surely doesn't need everyone pm'ing you.
The reason why I am not sharing that information publicly is that I didn't buy the bass directly from "him". Another player had it for a few months before I got it, and I got the information about the original buyer's identity from that second owner. I have no way of asking the "mystery guy" for permission to tell everyone this was his bass, and I think it is just rude and inappropriate to use his name publicly without asking first. That is the reason why I share that information with potential buyers only. Thanks for understanding. -

I thought I would never do this. Some time ago I decided to look for a Jbass as nice as my 1962 Fender, but not as expensive, so I could take it to gigs without pooing my pants. I went through many, but in the end I found it. Unsurprisingly, it was an US Lakland. A very early one, from 1999 (serial number 107!), Joe Osborne model, now called 44-60. This bass does sound, plays and feels ALMOST EXACTLY like my '62. The PUs (Fralins I believe) are just insane. Pure calssic JB heaven. And the neck is a work of art. I invite anyone interested to come to my house and A-B the two. It's simply amazing how similar -close to identical- they are. Back in the late 90s Lakland wanted to prove the were making the best PreCBS replicas in the market (far better than the best CS, and I've had a few of those too), and they made it. In complete honesty, 60s style JBasses just don't get better than this. Really. What makes this one particularly special is the fact that it was originally made for a very famous Fender bassist (who even has his own CS signature model). He played it happily for many years, but sold it in the end (less than two years ago) because Fender wouldn't let him be seen with a Lakland. He changed the stacked knobs with the current VVT controls. The original stacked pots, knobs and capacitors are included, as well as the original PU cover. Only kind-of-noticeable blemish is on the bottom of the body, check out the photos. Apart from that only a few normal marks of use (this bass has been loved and played a lot for obvious reasons). I would say condition is 8/10 in general. It weights 4,1 Kg, very nicely balanced. Just bought an US Lakland from David. Communication was very good. He was very helpful and shipped promptly. The bass was as described, a fine instrument. Another recommended Basschatter!

Cliff just bought my beloved CAR Fullerton Precision. He is a real pleasure to deal with. Communication has been open and transparent all through the deal, and payment was very fast. Before and after the deal we exchanged long emails about basses and he is also a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to old instruments. And his taste in guitars is exquisite!! Most recommended Basschatter, deal with confidence. Thanks again Cliff.

Been thinking of buying a 1U Matrix GT1000FX to pair with my DB680 Aguilar preamp. GT1000FX-1U The tones of this Aggy preamp are so amazing that I want something that modifies it as little as possible, and I want a 1u rack amp. The matrix is specifically engineered for guitar (it is not a PA power amp), so I emailed the guys and they said it works fine with bass as well. Any of you have had any experiences with this power amp? Ah! forgot to say it is proudly made in the UK. Thanks a lot!!

Just sold my Jaco CS Jazz to Cliff. He's been a gentleman all through the deal, a pleasure indeed. One of the good guys at BC for sure. Thanks a lot!

No, the COA disappeared at some point of the history of this bass, as is often the case. The body and neck all show the official stamps ("JACO", date stamps with the correct dates and the engraved "RELIC" stamp). Also an enquiry was sent to the Fender CS and the serial number corresponds to exactly this model and dates. And of course it "feels" like a Custom Shop Fender. Please PM and I will send you the Fender replies privately. -

I've had several people approaching me about this bass, asking me questions about the neck. As some of you might know, Fender manufactured 3 reissue models between 1982 and 1984: 2 Ps and 1 J. The two Ps were called '57 reissue and '62 reissue. For obvious historical reason, one would expect the neck profiles of these two model quite different (flatter for a 62 and chunkier for a 57). Well, that is NOT the case. I've owned all Fullerton RIs, and the neck profiles of the two P models are virtually the same: they are wide and flat, exactly like a early 60s Precision bass, not like a 57. I also have an original 1960 Precision, and I have taken this photos for comparison. As you can see, the dimensions of the two are almost exactly identical. What I mean by all this is that if you are after a neck that feels like an early 60s Fender P, this is it. price drop to 1700 pounds. Now 1600! For sale this early Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius tribute jazz bass, made in the Custom Shop in 2003. Probably the best fretless ever made by Fender. This bass is all stock except for the neck pick-up, that was replaced at some point. The one installed now sounds absolutely vintage and blends perfectly with the original one at the bridge. The body cavities have been professionally shielded so this Jazz bass is as silent as single coils can be. Actually the most silent passive bass I've had. Shielding can be easily removed if for some odd reason you want your bass to be noisy. I am rubbish at playing fretless (that's why I sell this bass), but the neck, feel and tone of this bass are amazing.
