1. For sale my 1971 Jazz Bass, sunburst finish, tortoise pickguard, rosewood fingerboard with pearl inlays and binding. We see one of these from time to time at the forum, but rarely as clean and complete as this lady. The only modification I have spotted is a small extra hole in the pickguard (to place the thumbrest above the strings). I have looked for something else that is not original but I can't find anything. Knobs, pots, cables, pickups, finish, frets, even solder joints seem good. Thumbrest and covers too. And OHSC. The sound of this bass is legendary, the pickups are loud and warm, perfect Jazz Bass tone. The truss rod is good, and the neck is very straight. She is a light one: only 4.1 kg. Many high resolution photos here (don't forget to click on the zoom-in icon, these photos are huge): GALLERY I will be sad when she is gone. Only trades I would consider are (maybe) older Fenders.
2. Pm'ed.
Trade with a fender CS jazz bass relic in seafoam green?
3. I got this on a trade! Yes, the other one you got was amazing too, but this one's made for serious rosewood lovers... These pre ernies are really amazing vintage instruments, miles above current stingrays, imho.
Where do you keep getting these from? Still enjoying the last Ray I got from you btw.
4. Thanks for the tip on the wood, we learn things everyday here!! As you say, whaterver it is, it is an stunning fingerboard on an amazing bass. About trades, I really prefer a straight sale, but don't be afraid of asking. Mind you, I don't fancy modern-looking basses (except maybe Alembics or Jaydees... if you can call that "modern"). You will not find many old MMs like this one...
5. This bass is sold, thanks. Up for grabs this amazing instrument. Tobacco sunburst finished, 1980 MusicMan Stingray, in very good condition (I would say 8.5 out of 10) and, to my knowlege, all original. This one is not a plain factory unit, as it shows two custom features, available as option at the time: through-body strings and an impresive rosewood fretboard. The feature most players don't loke about old Stingrays is their maple fingerboard. This one is rosewood, and just stunning. I am not an expert, but I would say it is brazilian rosewood (it is similar to my 71 JB). Both body and neck are stamped "1980". The bass has just been set-up, it is bliss to play, with nice low action. And the sound of this thing will blow you away. AND a very rare feature in old MMs aswell: it comes with the ORIGINAL OHSC. A lot of high resolution images HERE. And here she is:
6. In my experience, pre-EB Stingrays are heavier than your standard Jazz Bass, main reason being that the body is not contoured, so there is more wood/mass. Also, as stated above, all bodies were heavier back then. 5 kg is a normal weight for that model and era, I wouldn't consider it to be on the heavy side. GLWTS. Nothing sounds like a late 70s - early 80s Stingray.
7. Bump for a fine bass.

GONE

Bump for a fine looking lady.
9. Nice bass! Can you post a picture of the back of the headstock? Thanks!
10. And another great bass that leaves the continent...
11. This bass has gone back home. Thank you.
12. Great basses those are.
13.
I keep drooling over this every time it's bumped, not only because it is in absolutely stunning condition, but it is also my Y.o.B bass. IF ONLY it was fretted, it would've been on my credit card a few months ago. GLWTS
My man, get this bargain, buy a good fretted neck and... Off you go with two great bass guitars!!
14. IMHO, the lakland sounds better than the Pino by far. By the way, I have seen videos of Palladino at the studio, always with a Lakland....
15. For sale this set of active Pickups fro the mid 80s. Very popular back then. They come with 3 small rocker switches to modify the output tone and "feel" of the sound, one of the most versatile active PUs ever made. Check out this description from the Seymour Duncan Forum: "We stopped making the switch pickups ("Active EQ") in the mid-'90s. We replaced them with the Pro-Active™ series. The little rocker switches on the Active EQ pickups change the sound. Switch #1 shifts the coil resonance. On a Jazz Bass® neck pickup and a P Bass® pickup, the resonance moves downward from 22 KHz to 6.4 KHz. On a Jazz Bass bridge pickup, it move downwards from 17 KHz to 4.9 KHz. The effect is to give a more focused sound with a harder attack. Switch #2 gives a broad band bass boost of 4 dB for the Jazz Bass neck and P Bass pickups, and 5 dB for the Jazz Bass bridge. The switches can be a very effective tool for changing the tonal "character" of your instrument." I will ship anywhere in Europe. Cheers!
