1. reminds me of an old Mulligan and O'Hare tune http://mousehands.co.uk/common/images/opengraph.jpg Anyway, I'm feeling much better about my effort now. Thanks
2.
I like unlistenably cacophonous...
In that case, I might just go for the "shortest entry" award.
3. current status: unlistenably cacophonous. I mean, I want it to be dirty but I have no idea how you all make your tracks sound so legit.
4. wow, that's pretty.
5. That neck's got a trussrod wheel. I'd probably buy it for the neck and reshape the headstock.
6. wow, so much clickity-clangy fret noise on both those videos. Still, I'd love to try one, because it might be more to do with active electronics and EQ.
7. Things are getting silly cheap..
8.
Some folks have a gift for poetry, it would seem. Is there really nothing else to be gleaned from this picture..?
Well, initially I wondered if it was a political comment on seemingly-oppositional political figures all being controlled by an unseen puppet master but, for that to work, the two puppets should be different. Then I read the post in the other forum and realised that this artist is just making a visual joke about the woman in the original photo making two V signs, like a 'photobomb rabbit-ear' thing. So, it's actually much shallower than I originally suspected and basically is, now, a woman with her hand up a pair of rabbits arses. As such, I think whatever tune I put together will probably be more of a reaction to the aesthetic style rather than any meaning the image might be trying to convey. I'm expecting some dirty, noisy silliness from me and most of the other entries Anybody who can put together something that is both listenable and apposite could run away with it
9.
Thanks Dad, your so inspirational. I just don't think a song about a woman with her hand up a rabbit's arse is something I've conceived before :-p
eh, TWO rabbits arses, actually.
10. ok, ok... so now I'm expecting a few dirty, fuzzy, grungey guitar things. hmm
11. I've had two awful experiences with DHL, one really spectacular one, so when I order from Thomann I ask them if they can use a different courier and they've obliged every time. It's probably still DHL from Thomann to the airport, but then somebody else takes over when it gets to Ireland.
12. It's like a Dan Armstrong body with a Fender neck. ...but, then, Fender fretboards go all the way to the end of the neck, as Rumple pointed out.
13. Oh, interesting! ...but WHY wasn't that finish available for my sr506? Lovely. edit: Although, I must add, the B on my 34" bass is a-ok so I'm not too pushed about this fanfrettery.
14. Got a guitar that's mostly black? Photograph it against black.
15. I'm in. but I have no idea what to do with that image
16.
You need to get hands on with a prestige quality Ibanez to appreciate the difference in quality to their less expensive models.
Yeah, I'd love to. Once I got over the honeymoon period with my sr506, I have to admit it's a very good bass for the money (€600 wasn't going to get me another six string anywhere that quality) but I can easily imagine how it could be improved. I'd love to try their Veasley or Gary Willis bass.
I think it looks gorgeous and if the SR prestige basses are anything to go by I imagine it will play and sound fantastic. Saying that (when taking exchange rate into account) these are roughly the same price as as ACG custom (starting price of one at least).
Funny, that's exactly the luthier that popped into my head when I thought about what I'd do if I had this much money to spend on a bass.
Looks great, I do agree though, like Warwick it's hard to justify that sort of price for a production line built instrument. It's funny I've not had GAS for a 5 string Ibanez since I was about 17, but I'm lusting after an ATK 805e at the moment
Yeah, the production line/ "handbuilt" distinction doesn't bother me too much but, if the money and quality are equivalent, then I'd definitely choose to support an independent luthier over a big factory. I love the look of the ATKs too. There's been a couple in the classifieds here and, only for I'm saving money for tools to make a bass, I'd definitely have one by now.
17. Any thoughts on this? I think it's lovely-looking but I'm also posting it because I think it's interesting to see all this blurring of brand-name perception. I know Ibanez are seen as good-for-the-price kind of basses, and now there's this high-price, higher-spec apparition. The same used to be said about Squier. Fenders cheap, kind of crappy budget option. Now, not only to people love Squiers, but standards appear to slipping in American-made Fenders to the extent that many people prefer Squiers. (I don't play either Squier or Fender. Please don't lynch me if you disagree. I'm just passing on what I've gleamed from Basschat and Talkbass) Anyway, I think it's interesting. Would you pay this much for a Soundgear? I have an SR506 and I like it a lot, but if I had this kind of money to spend on a bass, I wouldn't go for a Soundgear. 18.
Stick up a classified on Join My Band.
cool. I never heard of that. Thanks. Pity it's regional, though. I just want to work over the internet with someone.
19. Finish a thing. Once upon a time (2008, I think) I joined a bunch of people to make an album in a month. An album each, I mean. One definition of an album is 28 minutes and there was 28 days in February, so we did that and it was fun. Since then, though, I just noodle about with an idea and then forget about it, never seeing through. I'll be using the BC compo comp to help me take an idea a little bit further. I need to learn (a lot) more about mixing and mastering. I'd also like to collaborate with someone, I think. I'd like to work with a singer but I don't know how to grow/find one of them. So, any progress on any of that would be nice for 2015
20. ah, that's a shame Lord Sausage.
21. late and not very helpful but my brother has a Dolphin II like yours but red. There's a couple of small spots where it got hit and the paint chipped off. The wood underneath is very pale, like ash or basswood. Lovely bass, that.
22.
What do you think would be good for metal? Chain mail?
strangely enough, it's silk.
23. Hang on a second.... I'm pretty sure he's wearing a cotton tee shirt. That's insane! Doesn't he know that cotton molecules absorb electrostatic quantum bass nodules? I mean, yeah, cotton's ok for reggae blues or whatever, but there's no way you're going to get that tight, mellow, high-end, mid-rangey, scooped, warm, bass presence attack that you need for jazz.
24. Yes. Skol303 all the way. I was sad that work got in the way of me taking part this month but, even if I did get something done, I'd be rooting for Skol this time Love it.
