1. "a lot of bass for £120" So true. GLWTS
2.
I did unlistenable free jazz for September's compocompo. I actually got a vote!!!!
oh nice one. All right, let's see where I end up..
3. I had to miss Novembers competition so I'm keen to get back into this. The problem is that the thing that comes most strongly to my mind when I think about fireworks is the complete lack of rhythm. I'm worried that the only way I can respond to this image is with some ludicrous, unlistenable, arhythmic "free jazz" nonsense...
4.
You certainly know how to keep a secret.
*ahem*
well, I've hidden it now. .....all I was saying was that I think you made a great choice ...whoever you voted for. I'm not saying who.
5.
Ça y est..! Once again, a prime crop to choose from, which never simplifies the task. I have, however, after giving each a fair run, decided on that which, imo, best suited the picture. So many differing interpretations; some even breaking the 'indus' mould to open up the possibilities even further. All in all, a great harvest for an inspiring painting. Who finally got my vote..? It's no secret, it went to ...
... 'Octo', by alittlebitrobot..! A short piece, elegantly composed and executed, evoking aptly and in peace the regular pacing in the echoing hall, with a delicate resolution. Well done, that fellow.
Felicitations, of course, to absolutely all of the entrants for sharing their various forms of genius (yes; no less..!) with us. Who will win this month, though..? Suspense again, it would seem.

whaaa..! Wow! Thanks! I checked back here to see how it was going, not expecting a single vote. That's great. Thanks Dad3353
6. It's Skol or Leonards Smalls contributions for me. Both excellent.
7. I'm going to go for "Where is my mind" by Pixies. The song sounds like the bass and drums are the rhythm and the lead guitar is on top but the rhythm guitar is so important. That double-strum bit at the end of the phrase blends so well that most bass players think the bass does it too. Here, let the lovely Kim Deal explain: http://youtu.be/WCPy_57z4_w?t=1m13s
8. Thank you! Although I usually have the black stuff in a pint glass. What I skimmed over previously was that I'm going away for the full month of November and I have a lot of stuff to get ready, as well as the day job, so I know I won't have another minute to work on any music until December. Today was my last chance to do this and I would LOVE to spend more time on it 'cause I know I'll listen to it tomorrow and squirm. I'll listen to it first, then the other submissions. I think that's probably the best way. Still, it's my first one, so I've no standards to uphold, and my next (more studious) attempt can only be an improvement, so it's win-win!
9. Robots! I wish I'd found out about this earlier. I'm going to be really busy so I only had yesterday and today to get something done for this. I have immense definciencies in mixing and mastering but it was loads of fun. I'd like to say I'll improve with next months but I'm going away, so.... December? If there's going to be a December one, I'm in. Here's mine https://soundcloud.com/alittlebitrobot/octo
10. Aye, it's interesting all right. I can't imagine it's something any small luthier is going to try. Once you've routed it, set the truss rod in and glued the blank back together, every cut from then on needs to be in perfect longitudinal alignment with a channel that is now invisible.
11.
Ha! This is what I surmised, but obviously I type slower than you...
haha, MEANWHILE, I've been off googling and it seems that it's a G&L patent called the "bi-cut neck". http://www.glguitars.com/features/neck.asp
12. Any chance it's one piece of wood cut down the middle, channel routed, truss rod installed and then glued back together?
13. I can't believe you got that done so quick! It took me a couple of days with a heatgun to strip my '85 Spectrum GT.
14.
I trust it's in new condition; spick and spam..?
You should see the neck on it. Total banana ritter.
15. Nice one! I shall be checking this thread hourly for updates. I had to cringe at that hand-painted headstock, though.. ouch.
16. couldn't help myself! Looks great, though! How does it sound?
17. Then: (photo from google, not my own) Now: I have a process post in the Build Diaries sub.
18.
Absolute nonsense. It was not an accident... Paul had stumbled upon the identity of JFK's real assassin and the plot to fake the moon landings. He was given a new identity by the CIA, for whom he worked faking vaccine research and coordinating the delivery of several tons of explosive to the World Trade Centre towers.
This is exactly the kind of conspiracy theory claptrap that the New World Order want us to think to keep us from noticing that blah blah blah pyramids something something Area 51 etc etc the British Royal Family are lizard people and something to do with mind-control substances in the public water supply.
19. Very interesting build! That swimming pool rout for the guitar must help compensate for the extra body wood.
20. Thanks very much! It was loads of fun.
21. haha "For parts or not working".. oh well. Interesting design concept, though. It reminds me of a fella here that turns old hurleys into guitars http://www.adverts.ie/search/user-600684/status_active/type_all
22. I have four. The first bass I owned, an acoustic 4 string, is bursting with sentimental value and is somewhat magical, so I'm keeping it. Then a fretted 6 and a fretless 4. ...but then I just made a short scale fretless 4 a couple of weeks ago. I want to make more guitars, but I don't actually need (or have space for) any more, so I don't really know what to do.
23. Not nearly enough. The real Jupiter for comparison. There's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
24. Yeah, that's a pretty ugly bit of integration aesthetically and, like HowieBass says, it's just awkward ergonomically. Still, good on them for doing it in the first place.
