Well, I live over in Austria, so Euros are my native currency...
haha, sorry. I didn't think to look at your location Well, what would your asking price be in Euros? I must admit, I don't know anything about the 1306. I only recently played an SR506 (and very much enjoyed it) so I'm not familiar with the variations of Soundgears yet. Are the biggest differences between this and the 506 the electronics and the woods? I'm asking because I want to be sure it feels like the 506 I played (body size, body shape, scale length, neck shape, string spacing at bridge and nut). You said the string spacing is 16.5 so it seems like all the other dimensions probably are the same as the 506. -
Ibanez BTB-7 NT (though I dislike its looks)
Hey, BassTractor. I just happened to see this on eBay. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/BRAND-NEW-Ibanez-BTB7-Maple-Bubinga-Walnut-Neck-Through-Hardshell-Case-/300963939850?hash=item4612d9460a and check out those import charges... 1745.78 dollars all told. -

Oh, you know...just the usual. An MTD 635, which I will never own. eg. It helps to keep my GAS manageable. -
I bought it off a Polish guy living here who had it built for him.The luthier is also Polish
aha, the Polish connection. That's excellent. The website is fun. Some nice stuff. Some MAD stuff... granite fretboards! We could really do with more importing of exotic instruments so adverts.ie starts looking more like your post and less like an army of Stellahs and Tanglewood Rebel 4ks Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking for a 6 string and my budget is much much less than what you're asking anyway -

alittlebitrobot replied to cavster123's topic in Basses For Sale
wow, that's crazy... and you're only up the road from me. I'm curious to know how you came to own it. Was it made for you? Being in Ireland makes it hard to find anything slightly out of the ordinary, and buying something without holding it first just makes me nervous, even though I've done it twice -

Thanks, Cybertect! That's really helpful, but disappointing. -
Bass models and geographic limitations
alittlebitrobot replied to alittlebitrobot's topic in Bass Guitars
Aha, I didn't realise Ibanez had such a history of this. My fingerboard concern seems so trivial compared to differences in quality of construction. Very odd. Thanks for the info, LeftyJ -

That's all my problems solved for 9.49 +p&p Thanks for your replies, everyone. The general idea seems to be that's just willful scarcity. ...Strange. They must think there's something inherently anti-maple about Europeans. @BigRedX: I know it's easy enough to get the thing shipped but my problem is that trans-Atlantic shipping plus import charges will bring the cost of a 700 dollar bass up to about 1000 dollars. That's about 700GBP/800Euro and, if I'm going to spend that much on a bass, I'd want something more than an sr506. It's just a (admittedly mild) frustration at the fact that there are sr506s around here, and lots of them, but Ibanez couldn't see the point in throwing a few of the maple fb versions into the crates bound for Europe. The other thing is, I just know the day I give up and buy a rosewood 506 I'll get an email alert from eBay with somebody nearby selling their maple one. -

Hello In addition to SimonEdwards link, you should look at Scott Devines website. Another good teacher, and it's free.

I've recently posted a thread in the 'wanted' section (this is the last time I'll mention it) http://basschat.co.u...aple-fretboard/ If you want to skip the link, the gist of it is I'm looking for an sr506 with the maple fretboard but I can't find one in Europe. This is apparently a deliberate choice by Ibanez. Now, at this point, I think I'm just going to give up and buy the much more readily available rosewood fb version. I know I've only been looking for a couple of weeks but there is a notable lack of this version even in expired second-hand eBay auctions and old 'buy and sell' sections of European websites (such as this one). Also, just to check, I've looked at eBays around the world and America is the only place that the maple fb model seems to occur. I emailed Thomann about it and they said that version was never sold in Europe. The thing is, even if I can't get one, I'm still curious about this. Why is it that certain models (not specifically the sr506 or even Ibanez) have these geographic limitations? Does anybody know or, if not, does anybody feel like having a bit of a reckon? [sup](edit: slightly concerned about my own marketing strategy now. This thread title may not be the most enticing one this forum has ever seen.)[/sup]

@Discreet These are so cool! 'Smoking Spaceman' is the quintessential robot, I think. It's always disappointed me that there isn't a B-movie with a city being destroyed by a giant one of those. That would make me happy. Thanks BassTractor and SimonEdward! I'm proud that my first thread here was instantly derailed and no mention of bass playing has actually occurred. -

Nope, haven't seen that book, but I do love seeing these old designs. I searched youtube for the Rotate-o-matic and holy moly that's irritating http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8fch4yyUrE I can't believe the 'Fighting Robot' is going for 900 dollars Expensive hobby, that.. -

I used to own one like it when I was really young but I lost it somehow. Gutted. So I just had to pull this image off google for my avatar. These days, I console myself with this wonderful book: Robots and Spaceships from Taschen -
Hello I lied. This is, in fact, my second post. I just posted a message in the "wanted" section: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215574-ibanez-sr506-w-maple-fretboard/ A little bass bio: I started playing when I was about 15. I'm 29 now. However, I'm not as good as someone who's been playing for nearly fifteen years should be. I pay my rent as an artist which takes up pretty much all my time, so if you heard me play you'd probably think I've been playing for... maybe three years I used to play in some boring rock bands but then I discovered Kraftwerk, múm and WARP records in quick succession and the plod rock thing went out the window. So, now I play a Vintage V940 fretless and a Peavey Grind 6 through some pedals into Ableton. That's about it. I hope you consider me introduced Nice to say hello after reading so many of your posts.
