1. yeah, I think Squier pissing out great basses for about the same amount has messed with peoples perceptions a bit. For parts and labour, I doubt he's making much (if any) profit at 200 dollars. Mind you, the shipping is insane.
2. oh, great. I love the image. I'm hearing spacey, floaty, bloopy beeps...
3.

wow. When you see it like that, putting a 34" scale neck on that body seems crazy!
4. Hello Rocker Fellow Irish person AND a fellow Blue? What're the odds
5.
It's the act of determining the manufacturer and/or model of a bass guitar based on available evidence, but that's not important right now.
6.

holy mackerel, that's a satisfying pair of images. Such a nice fit.
7. yeah, I'm not sure what's going on there, and it could really do with a lot more photos. But his feedback score is 100% anyway.
8. http://www.adverts.ie/electric-basses/fodera-emperor-ii-5-deluxe/8160138 €7800 = £5705
9. nutbags. Is it totally lost? Can't it be stabilised with the help of modern day liquid plastics or some such?
10. wow. Seriously, how metallic does it sound? Is it like a resonator guitar kind of sound or just normal? I'm a bit of a tonewood sceptic so I'm curious about this kind of thing.
11.
A most enjoyable thread, from a readers point of view it's almost a shame it's finished.
Totally agree. Somebody give Andyjr1515 another weird lump of wood and some random, strict limitations.
12. yeah, I've used super glue before a few times and it worked fine. But I think that was pretty lucky. Two interesting points: 1. That's actually what super glue was developed for. 2. There's a difference between surgical, sterilised cyanoacrylate and a tube of LocTite. Putting superglue in any kind of wound that hasn't been properly cleaned and sterilised is a bad idea. I'd say just play with a pick when you've got open blisters.
13. "The offer level was met previously by two buyers who then didn't bother to pay for it." ..still gives me a chuckle.
14. haha, nice one, Bartelby. Sounds like you earned it.
15. tempted by that resonator, for no good reason..
16. Forget it. If he can be bothered spending his time trading stuff for marginal profit, leave him to it. Life's too short for that kind of behaviour.
17.

oh my..
18. Great. Thanks very much. There's probably a hundred ways to finish a guitar and I think I've seen so many videos on youtube that I can't decide what I should do. But the photos you just posted look like my idea of a perfect finish. I suspected there might be sanding between applications of oil. You make the process seem so simple
19. wow, that finish is perfect. Can you describe your process and materials? Do you wet sand with oil or just wipe it on and let it dry between coats?
20. I've got a sr506. Not the same, but very similar, and it's pretty shocking how thin their basses are. 3kg for a 4-string Ibanez doesn't like too wild a number to me. I suppose I would've guessed more like 4.
21. Great to see more progress. I'm definitely struggling with tool maintenance. I can't seem to get my plane crazy sharp no matter how many educational youtube videos I watch. All I can do with mine is make dust, never a lovely curly shaving. I need somebody who knows their stuff to just come to my house and show me.
22. I've got a Vintage V940 fretless with the original active circuitry replaced with a passive circuit by BCs very own KiOgon, and it's perfect. It feels great, gives me the EXACT tone I want from a fretless and it looks lovely. I've also got an Ibanez sr506. I bought it about a year and a half ago at great expense (by my standards) and, although I love the tone, I'm finding it very difficult to admit to myself that I'm not getting used to that super thin neck. I knew when I got it that it felt a bit too thin but I assumed I would get used to it. If that was going to happen, it would've happened by now. It makes me sad that I might have to sell it, after all the fuss of trying to get it in the first place, but ergonomics is no small matter with guitars. edit: I voted for #3, by the way
23. Holy heckmachines, that's a classy headstock, front and back. Excellent. edit: woah, good timing! Finished pics just as I commented. This is a bizarre, fascinating, brilliant thread. Thanks for posting.
24. Mine was coming along, probably got to about half-way, and then work reared its ugly head unexpectedly. Ah well. What I had would sound pretty boring next to some of these
