  1. I am now a veteran here on BassChat. Does that just mean I'm old? 😉  😀

Enjoy it while you can, Marc, as you still have something you can aspire to.  Once you have achieved the dizzy heights of Grandmaster there is nothing else ahead.  Just an incentive-free vacuum.  You can't be demoted so you might as well be grumpy and rude to everyone, like I am, without fear of repercussions.

      @Rich - I guessed as much :)

  2. As an ageing bassist (who sold his fretless last year.... then joined a band who might benefit from some FL bass.... doh!) any idea what the weight of this bass is? Also, what are the markings like on the edge of the neck? Could you take a pic? Thanks
  3. Hanging on the telephone - Blondie
  4. Just wondered about the pickups @Bassassin- are they EMGs in your Cort? The pickups in this are so good, I've even thought of taking them out of the bass and keeping them for something else
  5. Go buddy go - the stranglers
  6. It always drew comments from people who didn't know what it was, or from musicians who wanted to talk about the 80's whenever I played it @haimesy Yes, it's a bass playing lifetime ago 😀
  7. DROP: This is now £175, if gone by Saturday - If it's still here, I may donate it to someone I know who has set up his own guitar & bass school. Just adding a possible trade - I'm potentially seeking a Fretless Jazz neck (Fender / Squier fit), or maybe a fretless bass - cash added for the right one. You don't see many of these around, as I gather they weren't in production for long. 1980's Cort headless bass, with Steinberger licensed bridge & nut. Features my own home made strap extension, using a metal bracket and wood added upper horn - as I couldn't reach the end of the neck comfortably before. This bass is fitted with passive EMG pickups, which are absolutely thunderous! It's louder than either of my active basses, and these pickups sound awesome. Not sure it was originally fitted with EMGs, and have seen no mention of this. I had the frets levelled a while back by a Luther near Cardiff, and the bass plays nicely. However, the action is a tad on the high side IMHO. This hasn't bothered me too much, as I tended to play it quite hard, in the band I mainly used it for. Ideal as a backup / spare as its so compact & light (around 3kg I think). It has a few scuffs & scrapes, and has definitely been gigged. Comes with nicely padded gigbag. I'm only selling as my backup is now a short scale headless Ibanez - so I'm not using this anymore. Collection from Cardiff preferred. I don't have a box / packaging. No trades (other than fretless Jazz neck) - I'm having a clear out. The skulls are easily removable stickers - I used in on a couple of Halloween gigs.
  8. It's stereo 2.5w + 2 5w But it's louder than that sounds, so to speak. I've played in folk jam sessions with it, in a pub, along with 4 or 5 guitarists, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, plus a drummer (using brushes) and it more than coped... Edit: I've played alongside louder musicians who beat hell out of some makeshift drums - but it could still be heard, when placed in a shop doorway. I also played it on a beach in West Wales, and it was fine even there. Probably not good for metal though! Lol. It seems a shame that they've discontinued these, as it fills a gap in the market.
  9. NOW £115. Plus, I'm after a Fender-fit fretless neck (Pref Jazz dimensions, and lined - but WHYG?). Or possibly a Fretless bass, with cash added for the right one. These are Cracking little micro bass amps, and are now discontinued, sadly. Can be powered by mains, or 6 x AA's - so you can get spare batteries anywhere. This one is in great condition. Great as a small practice amp around the house - it even has a headphone socket. Also good for busking too, which I've done a few times. It has a carry handle attached. What's really nice about these, is they have 8x sound presets, bass, middle & treble EQ, plus gain. But the effects feature really nice chorus, flanger & reverb. Even better, there's a built in drum / rhythm machine with 11 preset styles. I'd much prefer not to post, if possible - so collection from Cardiff preferred, or could possibly meet, if I happen to be on my travels. No trades thanks - the clear out continues....
  10. I had a Squier PJ made in Indonesia- it was superbly built, and sounded great. Fab value for money. This is a great price, and Burns Bass is a top fella to deal with. GLWTS Lawrie 😀
  11. Saw the Rezillos and The Undertones last night. Both bands were great, the Undertones particularly so 😀
  12. Wow. That's a stunning bass Paul. Great price for someone too, especially given its condition. The JV I owned was heavier than that too - great weight for one of these. GLWTS
  13. My oh my. That looks stunning!
  14. I am in several bands, and always talking music with all of them. I also chat about music with lots of mates who aren't musicians. Always talking music with Mrs S about music too. Often going to gigs with non musician friends. Basically talking music most of the time! And never pass up the chance to talk more music - it's such a huge part of my life... just wish I was better at it 😀
  15. Phew! Glad to hear you got your money back. If you can be patient for long enough, I'm sure a roadworn will come along at some point. In all honesty, I would wait for one - they are amazing basses. So well made, such top quality, great sounding with lovely feeling necks. My current fave P bass is a Mex "classic series" Precision. It's poly finish, not nitro, but these were made alongside the RW series, I believe.
  16. Definitely not one of the official Fender Roadworn series - the finish wear on the genuine RW's is very smooth. The genuine models are absolutely superbly made, and sound great. Sorry to hear you were sold something that isn't what it was supposed to be. Hope the guy refunds you.
  17. Hi @godathunder, I'm down the road a bit from the Rhondda - not too far away. Thanks for the offer - it would be interesting to see the bass
  18. Just zoomed in on one of the photos a bit closer. It appears from the wire in the middle of the body that it's hollow - just wondering if that's correct? @godathunder? I'd be interested to know what the bass sounds like, as a chambered body would have an effect on the sound. Following this with interest, as I'd like to see this restored EDIT: If it is indeed hollow, it seems a shame not to incorporate some F-holes in the body
  19. Sorry to be late to the party, but wow - that looks unusual. I didn't know Shergold made an upright. You might want to consider getting an adjustable bridge - as this will allow you to "tweak" the string height yourself. I recall a few years back, when as a beginner myself, the second upright I bought had an adjustable bridge, and for me at the time it was a real boon. It meant I could get the string height I was more comfortable with really easily. Good luck with this project. Nice to have a bass with a family link
  20. Phew! Glad this is on hold - at £330 it's an absolute steal
  21. Doh - just bought one of these a couple of weeks back. Indeed, it's great for doubling up with upright and Bass Guitar. If only I had waited a couple of weeks more.... sigh GLWTS
