  1. Me too. The grain showing through the paint is just lovely as well If I needed another Precision.... GLWTS
  2. Ah, of course - I did see that. I suppose you were so dazzled by it, that you couldn't see him clicking "buy it now" on his laptop!
  3. I was thinking more along the lines of, if the OP is anything like me - he'll put them in a very "safe" place ... and promptly forget where.... lol
  4. What an amazing present Sylvia Bluejay! Did Happy Jack win the lottery? Or has he just bought himself two new basses? Did you think he'd taken up golf? Yes, Eminence DB's are pretty amazing. I hadn't realised they did a left handed version - great Hope you have a wonderful new bass year
  5. I've got a Shaftesbury faker, and it's absolutely great! However, it doesn't have the original Truss Rod Cover, it's got a replacement. I wish it still had the original cover If I were you, I'd keep those TRC's - Greco instruments from that era are well respected, and if you remove yours, you risk losing them You may regret that in future?
  6. Oooo, are we going to play Top Trumps ailments & complaints then? lol EDIT: I warn you, I am a miserable old git! ha ha
  7. Not seen or tried one of these heads before, but if the quality of my Epifani cab is anything to go by, this should be a great amp head Not many heads have the 2 separately controlled inputs either.... useful
  8. But I'm even more pitiful than your good self, Mr Discreet......honest!
  9. Saw Robert Cray a few years back, and glad I did My favourite blues player / singer in recent years is Eric Bibb Saw him at Cambridge Folk fest several years back - and I was simply blown away Not only is he an amazing guitarist, but he's got a wonderful voice too, and there's plenty of variation in hist style - it doesn't all sound like 12 bar His album dedicated to Leadbelly, where he covers a whole album of Leadbelly's songs, along with JJ Milteau is amazing - I would highly recommend that one This year, Eric is back at Cambridge and I'm really over the moon about that
  10. Thanks again for your thoughts TPJ Anyone else care to add any comments? Anyone else had problems with the bridge on one of these basses?
  11. I read about someone having a problem with the pickup - perhaps it was yourself? Shame that happened to you, and glad you got it sorted I hope it's not a common fault Was it easy to remove the old bridge and access the wiring? Was it easy to fit a standard bridge, or did it need a lot of modification? I think I need to pop along to the bass centre and give one a whirl..... Thanks for your reply, and sorry for all the additional questions! lol It's just that I'm thinking of selling my Czech Ease to get one of these, and I want to get that right (as I probably won't see another Czech Ease)
  12. Hi, I'm actually thinking the same thing. They do look great, and a serious alternative to carting a full body sized acoustic DB about Anyone else got any more thoughts on them please? Did you go for one Marvin Spangles?
  13. Me too, and I wondered the same thing. There was a thread about this very topic somewhere on here I know several musicians who are left handed, yet play right handed instruments (incl a guitarist I've known for years, but didn't see him hold a pen until years after A couple of them have said they think the tricky shapes, movements etc are probably better suited to your more dominant hand. I'm not 100% convinced on this, but when I began, I felt a right handed bass to be more comfortable (or was it that there was only one Left handed bass in the shops - and it was expensive?) These days, I know four violin players. Three of them are brilliant (one especially, and she helped teach the other two good ones) the fourth player is.... OK Oddly enough, the 3 good players are all left handed. Each of them has said they've never even seen a left handed violin, and they all know left handed violin players, who play right handed violins
  14. Can't believe this awesome bass is still here GLWTS type bump Kevsy
  15. Welcome indeed Jeff, and itsmedunc has warned you..... lol mind you, I think I was pretty much ruined, even before joining BassChat
  16. Good to hear such heart-warming news FuNkShUi Hope you're OK mate? Haven't seen you in a while.... Well done BC'ers - obviously, there are still people out there who care EDIT: "You've all done very well" said young Mr Grace
  17. Not played one of those. And boy, that does look good, in Fiesta Red I played one of the earlier models of fretless Jazz type basses. I was impressed with that for the money So if they've been making improvements, I want to try one
  18. Welcome to BC. But more importantly, welcome back to the wonderful world of bass playing
  19. This bass is looking absolutely amazing! Great job Bridgehouse I'll be interested to see what the final weight is, and even more interested to hear it being played (unplugged too - wondering how loud it will be)
