1.
Ped Thanks for all you guys do for us ungrateful bastards. Awaiting new site with unconfined curiosity
Lol - yes indeed - thanks for all the hard (unseen, unappreciated) work you Mods do
 2.

Lol
 3.
I mounted mine on a stand very cheaply and don't need the side brackets.
Sorry to be late to the show! But Paul S has a great solution. I also did this (on another EUB) I went down to my local Drum Depot with the EUB. They dug out a sturdy, second-hand cymbal stand. They even had a selection of different bolts & wing nuts of different lengths, gauges and threads - and sold me exactly what I needed to make this sort of adaptation My first EUB was a stagg. I rarely played it with those side brackets, as they seemed rather uncomfortable to me....
 4. I had an Ashbory with those white Aguilar Thundergut strings on. They were definitely quite brittle feeling at the nut end (you could snap the end of the strings by bending them) I really disliked the strings anyway - they were very "sticky" - I found my left hand wouldn't move freely enough, as there was far too much "drag". Ashbory basses come with a sort of talcum powder when new. This helped.... a little. But I just didn't get on with it. I sold it and bought myself a Kala Ukebass. With its' black, rubbery strings it's far more comfortable to play - despite the strings feeling very low tension I'd definitely try the black strings from a Kala - though as others have said, they will take a long time to stretch & settle.... EDIT: I have heard other Ukebass owners rave about Aguliar "Thunder Reds" - though I've not tried them myself. They are apparently higher tension than the black strings. They certainly look to be a lighter gauge.... Make sure you get the versions for the Kala though - as they come in different lengths, for other instruments....
 5. I had one of these in sunburst. It was the bass that turned me back to Fender, and in particular, to the Roadworn series - they really are superb instruments of the highest quality. They look and feel superb to play and sound great. I traded mine (cos I had one too many basses) for a lovely Fretless Jazz. Although I don't "need" it back - I really do miss my RW Jazz I've owned a few Jazz basses, including 2 USA models, and my Roadworn was easily the best... Yes, they're around £1300 now, and IMO the best bass in that price bracket. So this one is a really good price, and especially nice in Fiesta Red If anyone wants a really great Jazz - go for this one (I don't know the seller, but I know the bass will be superb). GLWTS
 6.
That's a bit outrageous really. Its not a free or charity festival by the looks., In a holiday park, so they'll be making off the accommodation costs too. Best avoided.
My thoughts exactly. If it had been a charity event, fair enough Imagine the response of the holiday park if you sent them the following letter: "Hello, my friends and I would love to have a holiday in your park" Unfortunately, none of us has been paid for quite some time, as that's what venues seem to think is acceptable these days." "If you would be interested, we can offer to play for you for one night in the bar" We look forward to your response Of course, there are some who would see this as a free night in a holiday park - but it depends on how far you all have to travel, and the logistics (how many cars? how much petrol? Lugging amps etc) Up to you of course, but I'd avoid, unless you were getting free accommodation and any monies raised were going to a worthy cause.... As No.8 Wire says - they've got paying guests, so they're making money. Sounds like a band has pulled out (probably due to the sponsor) If they really want a band, even a small fee plus accommodation and a bit of food / drink would be something. EDIT: If a band does in fact accept this - the holiday park will probably think that's what they deem acceptable practice in future
 7. It does look great, especially in white Glad you had a happy NBD - which I hope is actually a happy NBM (M = Month!)
 8.
about 20 mins I think, I buy a bass thinking 'this is the one' and it never is.......
I think there are a few heads, nodding in agreement among BC members Tom EDIT: BTW, I know quite a few guitarists who are exactly the same too....
 9.
It means nothing to me....
lol
 10.
JV P/J pickups? I am not sure there is such a thing as a JV in P/J configuration. I'd be wary of paying too much for that.
Yes, good spot Steve. I had read that it was a P/J or going to be a P/J To the OP - if it's a body without the routing / cavity for an extra pickup - I think I'd leave it alone, and not add the pickup If it's already got the extra cavity, that's fine - but I'd be careful what I paid for it. The additional cavity will surely devalue the bass and by even more, if it's not a tidy job...
 11. Looks good to me - but then I'm a bit of a sucker for tort. Black & Tort is indeed a good combination, and it's difficult to tell from photos on a screen, but I'm thinking Tort + Matt black is even better You are allowed a black pickguard - but I'm not a fan of white on a black bass, personally.... pearloid or creamy off white maybe But the only opinion that really matters is yours. It's your bass
 12. That's in good condition for its' age Lovely colour too and I like the grain as well The neck looks very similar to those used on Westone basses
 13. My first "proper" (i.e. half decent / playable) bass was a Fender Musicmaster. That bass did lack a bit of bottom end Although it has been said that this was due to the fact that Musicmasters used guitar pickups back then... I once played at an open mic where another bassist had a Squier Jaguar Short scale, with P/J pickups that had been upgraded That sounded great, and definitely didn't seem to lack any thump
 14. I've got flats on my Short Scale, whereas I've got rounds on my long scale basses (apart from flats on my fretless Jazz - though these are low tension LaBellas) So I don't really feel the strings on the SS are floppier - in fact, they're higher tension than any of my full scale bass strings The SS is a P/J - and I have to say, it does the "thump" sound pretty well For me, swapping to & from it does cause a little issue with left hand positioning / fretting - as I can overshoot / over-stretch if I'm not very careful It shouldn't really be a problem - but I am also swapping from bass guitar to DB as well.... so maybe that's part of my problem?
 15. The past 6 or 7 years, I have changed basses quite a lot - I suppose I'm ever searching for that "ideal" bass? But I've changed more frequently since becoming a member of BC - and I'm sure I'm not alone there I had a 25 year absence from playing (what was I thinking?!) and during that time, I had an Ibanez Roadster in a case, stored under beds, behind wardrobes or wherever... Anyhow, I had that since nearly new, which was around 1985 or '86. My son always liked it since he started playing, so I gave it to him about 4 years ago
 16.
I've got a fiver here you're welcome to try out Marc if it greases the wheels of a sale here. They're really decent instruments & do the Stingray sound quite well, even stock like mine is. I also know you're trying not to buy anything atm so your call buddy...
Ah, you're quite correct roceci - I really am "trying" not to buy any more basses! - Just not trying hard enough I had a rather nice MM before - lovely trans red it was too. I liked the quality and the sound I got from it. Trouble was, it was damned heavy And the neck was rather chunky. I don't mind a bit of neck width - but not keen when it feels wide, and deep... It seems this OLP is fairly light by comparison though I never weight my old MM - but I'm pretty sure it was the heaviest I've ever owned, and felt much heavier than the RW Jazz I owned at the same time....
 17.
Pickup depends whether you want a 'vintage' P sound or something a little hotter/modern. Original JV pickup will give you the former, the a Dimarzio (I really like the model P) will give you the latter. Take it back to fretted, finish in a 60's Fender custom colour of your preference, job done. Si
Agree with Si. It depends on what sound you're after? Also, re the finish - or "to refin, or not to refin?" - it also depends on what look you're after A bare wood finish might be the best option in any case - I know good quality repaints can be very expensive Then you're down the path of - what colour? Original Squier CV colour, or something else? Pics would really help inform BC'ers as to what choice they'd make in this instance too I would also get it re-fretted too Good luck with this project
 18. Agreed that Squier Classic Vibes are fantastic instruments of very high quality But as others have already said.... a few photos would help you sell it
 19. Never played an OLP - though I have heard they are very good Wish you were a bit closer, just so I could try it GLWTS
 20. Wow! This lovely bass is still here? They're now over £1,100 new - so this is a good price
 21.
I keep seeing Limelight basses that look fantastic , but I'm not sure what exactly they are Are they complete new builds or actual fenders which have been worked on ?
They are new builds. The components are of very high quality, and the build and finish is fantastic, and to your spec / requirements... Although they don't do a "pristine" finish you get the amount of relicing you specify - they will even match the wear on a bass, to one you have a photo of. As Discreet says, you simply contact Mark via his classicandcoolguitars.co.uk site and email him. plus there are some fab collectors guitars & basses for sale on the site, plus plenty of examples of Limelights he's built for previous customers I've played 3 Limelights now, and they were all superb. There was one for sale locally that I tried.... and stupidly let go, because I thought I needed to sell a bass at the time However, having reached something of a milestone in work recently, I decided to treat myself and have one built! It should be with me in a few weeks... so I'm getting quite excited As others have said, those of us of a certain age could never afford a Y.O.B. bass - let alone one in the exact colour & model we'd like... so a Limelight is the next best (and most affordable) thing EDIT: Hope it's OK to post a link to the site? Mark is a really nice guy to do business with, and I've heard nothing but good reports from those who've met him & ordered basses http://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/
 22. Like Rabbie, I had one of these and sold it. Mind you, at the time, I just had to really Great sound on these - the most akin to a full bodied acoustic DB that I've heard If space (and cash) were not an issue, I'd have one of these again GLWTS
 23.
Where are you based? I'm interested in this but would want to try it out first, obviously!
It says Vienna, Austria under his icon - not an easy trip just to try a bass out
 24.
.....The only reason for selling is that the world is full of beautiful basses......
Yes, I agree - but I think this is one of them! Why is this beautiful bass still here? and at that price I really don't need another bass.....I really don't need another bass..... I really don't need another bass..... I really don't need another bass..... If I keep saying this, I may not be tempted lol Someone buy this now, please....
