Hi All, I’m a jazz bass guy and fancied a Budget P bass. After buying a squier p bass pro tone 1997 Made in Korea for £120 I made a fatal mistake not checking the truss rod. which I believe is sheared off, stew Mac does a gripper. does anyone know of a similar tool based in the uk? I managed to use the body with upgrades which I’m very happy with fender MIM Jazz neck Montys retro wind pup Montys 50s wiring loom i like the neck so I would like to use it to make a Jamerson P bass with a Paulownia body. any help or advise would be much appreciated Thanks Andy

Bass collection jive bass upgrade, is it worth it?
dasbear69 replied to dasbear69's topic in General Discussion
Yeah Have a Gotoh 201 on my Ibanez Blazer, would like to try the sandberg as it's more like the hipshot A Bridge, do Gotoh do a hipshot style bridge? Wilkinson tuners any good? -

Nice One, will give the sandberg bridge a go to start with £50 on ebay. Can you recommend some good budget tuners? -
Has anyone upgraded a bass collection jive bass, pickups, tuners, bridge? Thing is I love the neck especially up by the nut, great for the beadle hands I have. Was thinking sandberg bridge.
-
Will try your suggestions chaps, thanks.

East asian built bass, think I need to try one. It says on the sandberg website that they are sandberg designed single coil pickups (AlniCo5 magnetics) that are fitted. The higher spec models have delano pickups which sound great on demos I have heard. For a similar price what would be recommend?
-
Also would the usual delano pickups make much difference as I see they are sandberg's own?

Hi I've been thinking about going to bass direct in the midlands to try the Sandberg Electra TT4 Jazz Bass. For £599 It's a great price for a sandberg. does anyone own one? would love to know the pros and cons?
Elite Stadiums for me.
love em, Elites all the way for me currently using groundwounds sound amaing on a jazz bass pure retro tone, great feel easy to play. Have Elixirs on ibanez blazer bass are ok, yet to try rotosounds.

do you use this amp xgsjx?

thanks for the tip. I'm actually using elites groundwounds that are a cross between flats and rounds they say The outer wrap is wound with a round wire which is then ground down to smooth off it's ridges. The result is a smoother string with reduced finger noise, which still retains more flexibility and brightness than a flatwound alternative. I love them could'nt imagine using any other strings, can't see them being that much different to chromes or bright flats, but did just buy a set of rotosound rs66s never used them need to hear what all the fuzz is about, will put on will mess around with the amp tonight. Thank you Master.
