  1. Aye Dave! Planning my next move. I think i'm going to make the body slightly assymetrical, which means more router activity, which means panic. Also, i've just acquired another Jazz style neck, which I am testing on my Jazz bass. It's quite large for a Jazz neck, but still with the narrow nut. Plays very well.
  2. Crikey. What is it and where did you get it?
  3. Oops, off to a bad start. Trying again with the fretless.
  4. It seems to me that the BB style Yamaha's get all the love on here, but I do like the BBG's and BBN's as well. I thought it might be nice to start a thread showing of these lovely things, and so I'll start things off by showing my own. Please feel free to add you own pix and your untrammelled adulation for these great basses. 29E848C6-E67A-4963-84EF-CA2E2A7FB40A.heic
  5. Aberffraw, eh? I used to go windsurfing at Rhosneigr just up the coast. Wild and wooly.
  6. Crazy cool! And a great recovery from the routing disaster. I hope we can hear sound clips soon!
  7. Wow, that is my theory blown out of the water right enough! Any idea what the naming convention might be, then? I'm surprised how many variants there are of these BBG's and BBN's. And that's a nice looking active version, btw. Normally I'm not mad for black basses. Maybe we should have a "show yer BBG/BBN thread"..
  8. I think the Yamaha naming convention is such that "S" means sunburst (Per my own BBG4SII). I notice your BBG5 has non original Kent Armstrong pickups. How does it sound?
  9. I had the Harley Benton Jaco style Jazz. It was well built and well finished. I think the top might have been a veneer , because there were no obvious joins. I thought it was a good bass, and certainly did me for a while. The only issue i had with it was that it was heavy. I sold it to someone on here, who wanted it for the neck!
  10. I’ve got an Indonesian SUB Ray 4. Nothing wrong with it at all. Second hand for two hundred quid. Bargain.
  11. I sometimes chain my Zoom G3 with my Zoom B3n, if I’m feeling ambient-ish. The G3 supplies the delays, because they are the FX with a mix control on that particular device. The other guitar oriented stuff, like distortions, don’t really cut it. The B3n does the rest: envelope filters, octaves, choruses. i only use them together because it’s easier to toggle individual FX than swapping whole patches on the B3n.
  12. EBS Session 60. As loud as your family can bear, and very pokey.
  13. I think I remember BJ Cole experimenting with a MIDI output on his pedal steel.
