  1. You can buy decal paper online. I have made two-colour logos for a bass, and it is very easy. You will need to sand off the existing logo, and apply a coat of clear to seal in the new logo. It sounds daunting but it is not.
  2. It is not a veneer. It looks like a very thin film layer. On YouTube there is a video by a guy who repaired the cracked photo flame layer on the headstock of a BBG. He removed the aged and cracked film, and replaced it with real veneer. Very clever. There was also one on eBay, in Italy I think, with very obvious age cracking of the film on the lower bout of the body. It is correct that the film does not show the chatoyance of a real veneer, which is a dead giveaway. I think they are beautiful and very playable basses, photo or no.
  3. Here ya go:
  4. If you take the neck off, or the pickups, you will see that there is no maple slab top, just a film layer.
  5. Cor, that's a lovely thing, that is. For country of origin, check the wee oval label on the back, at the bottom of the body.
  6. Nice looking bass. Slimmed the neck down?! What sorcery is this?
  7. Not another one. I am so sorry to hear this.
  8. These are brilliant. I never use can amp at home now. Bargain too.
  9. I've just had moulds made for my hearing aids. The audiologist put tiny sponges on strings into my ears before applying the two part silicon glop. No drills involved. I am looking forward to getting them next week.
  10. I've got an M80. Bomb proof. You can get an amazing amount of stuff into it, until it becomes very difficult to wrangle in and out of cars, etc.
  11. My first decent bass was a BB1000. I had it defretted by Norman Reed and a Jazz pickup added. I wonder where it is now.
  12. Naughty boy. But very hard to be angry with a charmer like that.
  13. Love that schnauzer! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
  14. Musicophilia, Oliver Sacks.
  15. I used one of these to noodle on, while on holiday many years ago. Absolutely amazing sound considering its size! Definitely NOT a toy! GLWTS.
  16. Lovely thing.
  17. That is pure lovely so it is.
  18. Best buy this year was my Yamaha BBG5S. It plays and sounds great. Absolute bargain as well. I can’t put it down. I had been absolutely phobic about five string basses, but this thing is so easy to play and sounds huge. So, it seems you can teach an old dog new tricks!
  19. Never mind the body, I can't STAND those droopy Sire headstocks. What were they thinking??
