  1. A five string bass lap steel! Crazy!
  2. Wire wool is really messy. It goes into tiny clogging filaments in moments. Micro mesh is the way to go. I wish i had discovered it ages ago!
  3. I just got a nice neck and Wilkinson tuners from Gary. The tuners and neck were packed very securely, and all was well. Thanks, Gary!
  4. Anybody here do laser engraving, or know of a supplier of said process? I am repairing a nice Tacoma EKK9 acoustic, kindly damaged for me by DHL (big hand for DHL!!) The headstock break is all but invisibly repaired, but the rosewood headstock veneer was destroyed. I have a new piece of rosewood, which I need to have engraved with the Tacoma logo. This is so that the logo, which is made up of tiny plastic letters, can be inlaid. See the attached images. Any thoughts, or advice re laser engraving? I have seen this done on a Telecaster clone on some American site, and it looked very good. I'm surprised it's not used more widely.
  5. Lovely job!
  6. I've got one of the Harley Benton's recommended above. Pretty good bass for the money. The nut slots needed filing down and the G string was very quiet. New string solved that problem.
  7. I've got one. I don't think it sounds at all thin used at home. In fact, I find it can sound very bassy. It might be the room you're using it in: mine sounds tighter in my living room with a concrete floor (carpets over the concrete, of course). In my man cave, with a carpeted SIPS floor it sounds a little woollier. It does sound good with the SpectraComp Toneprint, or a compressor pedal in front. Hope this helps.
  8. Would this work with a TC Electronic Toneprint amp?
  9. Thanks, Bob, for the nice BG250. You are a very nice man and a pleasure to deal with. Keep up the good work!
  10. Thanks, Jem. I would go head and cab myself, but looking for portability and ease of use mainly at the moment. I sort of fancy a Trace combo, but I think I'm WAAY too old to be lugging one of those around!
  11. Hi again Bob Are you free Saturday or Sunday? I can bring cash with me. I'm near Chipping Norton, not that far from you. Stuart
  12. Well, I'm definitely interested! I need an occasional bass amp for village fetes, etc. (How are the mighty fallen!!) I'm a wee bit nervous because i have heard dark rumours about their reliability. Any thoughts about that? Best Stuart
  13. Hi Timmy Do you still have this combo? Cheers Stuart
  14. Hi Will you sell the combo separately? Stuart
  15. Hi Bob Have you still got this? Stuart
  16. Hi Just saw your ad. Still looking for a guitar player? Stuart
  17. I use a THR10 for guitar and bass at home. Very good for both purposes, surprisingly effective for bass.
  18. What power output is this combo, and what weight?
  19. This might sound dumb and amateurish, but I get a great, and surprisingly loud and useable sound, out of my Yamaha THR10 on the Bass setting. Weighs nothing.
  20. Start with both volume pots full up then pluck a string and turn the neck volume pot down very slightly until you hear the mids becoming more present. Turning the tone back a little might sound okay too. Both volumes full up scoops the mids a lot. ^^^^This.
  21. I just got a fretless, after thirty years without. Like coming back home!
