I didn`t know that Andertons did commission sales. I would rather sell a Bass with Bass Bros or Bass Direct myself. Out of interest how much do Andertons charge?

I had a black one and whilst it looked as cool as, on a stage with a lighting rig it buzzed like a bee in a jar. But this was 12 ish years ago and I should just have spent some money on a decent shielding job.

I have a set of these in as new condition. I no longer need them so if anyone wants them send me your address and I will post them. They cost £60 for the pair so if you feel like sticking a tenner into a charity of your choice that would be cool. https://www.thomann.co.uk/thomann_cover_yamaha_dbr12.htm#bewertung

I have started using a Rumble 500 in an acdc tribute band and it does ok on it`s own in decent sized pubs and believe me we aren`t a quiet band.
-
I was speaking to a guy in a Quo tribute band and he hates the blooming thing but as he can`t afford a Charger like Rhino`s he plays a Washburn.

One of the "problems" with the pub @theplumber has described above is they have decided to change a lot of the bands, the punters are not to happy about this and are drifting to other places in the town. I have played the place many times over the years and we are the first victims of the Friday cancelations. Also they are putting on special events and charging between £10 and £15 for tribute bands which has angered one of the towns larger venue`s who have decided to stick it to them as they are now in direct competition with them and are now booking some of the acts who used to play for her. I don`t get where she is at with the asking for too much money as I think the most we ever got was £250 for a 5 piece and when we played the charity gigs there we always gave them the fee (usually £100) back and gave it to the charity.

I think you need to be a supporting member?

Most charge 20%, I think the bass gallery is 15%? The advantage is they can give you an idea where to price it but the downside is the 20%. But it saves you the hassle of selling it yourself. I had a bass for sale on here that had sod all interest, gave it to Will at Bass Bros and it was gone in a week.

Our singer uses an i pad and I have no problem with it. Now clip on tuners, they get right up my nose!

I always take 2 no matter how close or far away the gig. If something goes wrong and you can`t sort it for whatever reason and you don`t have a spare then it`s amateur hour. I have a Gator double gig bag that always come with me but I must admit with 2 basses and the weight of the bag, it`s a pain to carry. A while back I bought one of those Mini Squier P basses and it was ideal but felt like a kids bass at the end of the day. But at the same time I realise that I may never need a spare. It`s just whatever suits you.

This exactly. Having worked in the transport/logistics sector most of my days including with several parcel delivery companies, my wife who has always worked in the NHS doesn`t believe me when I say that the majority of the people who work in these companies just don`t give a baboon`s rear.

Have you ever paid to play a gig?
jezzaboy replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Never paid to play as I have always done covers but we are doing a support act in December where we aren`t actually getting any money up front but we are being given some tickets to sell. Luckily we have sold 90% of the tickets already and the last few are being given to family. It will work out roughly the same cash as being paid for the gig and it`s a good gig for us to play as the main band has a nationwide following so getting the band name out there is a bonus. -
Play the Stingray instead of the P bass? Lots of bite from a Ray.

One of the guys local to me had their van and drum kit stolen from the Premier Inn in Walsall. He plays for the Bay City Rollers and the kit has a tartan design so if any of you guys down that way can spread the word it would be appreciated. This is the facebook post. Thanks URGENT - TO ALL DRUMMERS Our Head of Music Thomas Jamie McGrory has had his drums stolen from the Premier Inn in Walsall. The van has gone too, it is a white crewvan. He plays for the Bay City Rollers and is currently on tour. The drumkit is hand painted with a tartan design and is the only one of its kind in the world. I don’t need to tell you he is devastated. If you hear or see anything please phone the police. Words fail me, I just feel sick because I know how much he loved this drum kit. DRUMMERS OF WORLD PLEASE SHARE and keep a look out - Thank You, Tommy

In my experience they do sod all checks. I bought a new G&L Tribute a few years back and it had a good few faults and a few days later after I returned it, it was listed for sale in the shop as B stock. I`m guessing if you are buying a bog standard Fender or similar they don`t even open the box, if you are buying something expensive they will check it. I`m thinking they don`t have the staff to check each guitar they send out. One of the downsides of buying from a large box shifter operation.

Stop press!!! Oasis have just announced that Adam Clayton will be playing bass on the concerts so all the haters on Basschat can get their fix all at once!

Decisions re. new PA for 4 piece band. 10 / 12 / 15 tops +/- Sub
jezzaboy replied to warwickhunt's topic in PA set up and use
I was watching a band last night in a small pub and this is what was happening. When the bass player used his low B it was a most unpleasant. -
Wrong tuners, dodgy transfer on the headstock and truss rod access at the headstock by the looks of it? Dodgy neck so the rest is prob dodgy as well.

Bought this on here a couple of months back and it`s a great example of a P bass but an expensive incoming bass means I`ve gotta shift some stuff. This is a 2013 Mexican model in honey blonde. It has the vintage specs, 44 mm nut width, all gloss neck, vintage style pickup, vintage reverse open gear tuners and a gold ionized aluminium scratch plate which as you can see isn`t fitted as I like the contrast with the black better. The original will be supplied. The bridge was changed out sometime in the past and I don`t have the original BBOT. It has a few dings: one on the rear, a few on the body edge and one on the back of the neck. The bass weighs 9.4 LB`s. It will come in a brand new basic Thomman gig bag and the price includes shipping to a UK address, if you can collect from Paisley I will knock off the postage costs. I bought the bass for my asking price and most of these seem to start up higher in price but usually end up going for around £500.

Good point. On the GG page down at the bottom there is a SUB Ray for £399. I realise that is pretty cheap for one of these now as most seem to be around £430 but they are much better than this new model.
-
Agreed. I like SBMM but these are quite ugly, just doesn`t look right without the control plate and it seems to draw my eyes towards the ugly bridge . I wonder who they are aiming this model at?

My band doesn`t have a leader as such but I would say that 3 out of the 5 of us have more to do with the running of it. But this morning I have had to cancel a gig we were doing in a couple of weeks with another band due to one of our members having a personal issue. We don`t use deps, tried in the past and it`s not worth the hassle. Felt bloomin rotten telling the other BL we couldn`t do the gig but he seemed ok about it. I`m too much of a worrier to do the sole BL thing.
