  1. I bought the red P bass last year, just days before being told I was getting paid off! Sold it but it was a great bass at £400, better at this price though.
  2. They are nice pickup`s but I went onto the G&L online store to order a set but the postage price was something crazy like £50! Aye just checked, £66 for the pickup and £49 postage.
  3. I wonder if this had an active circuit in it at one point as the cut in the pickgaurd was usually there to enable a battery change? Nice bass with plenty of mojo, GLWTS
  4. Zoom H1N in very good condition. Fitted with a 32 G Scandisk SD card. Collection from Paisley or will post UK mainland only. Here is what it does.
  5. Like lots of us on here I do the occasional gig. I`m not a professional musician, I don`t make loads of money doing it but do get paid for it sometimes. I`m doing the car insurance quote bit and as it`s a bit of a nightmare trying to work out the best deal, most policy`s state that for social, domestic and commuting use but excluding any trade or professional use. Does doing gigs if you get paid for them come under these conditions? Does anyone else bother? Thoughts?
  6. This was my set up last year. It has now changed a bit as it`s just a tuner and a Sans Amp programable through the RCF 715. On this occasion, it was used as a stage monitor and put through the pa but I have used it on it`s own for pub gigs and as I have sold my ABM stack, it`s all I have left. I wear ear plugs as well due to having a loud drummer and 2 Marshalls, one each side and this set up does the biz. Well worth thinking about. @Skybone just reread your opening post. This RCF can handle all the bass you can throw it, 15" speaker and 1400 watts, (more like 700 watts) of class D power. The DSP / FIRPHASE gubbins built in takes care of the sound without you having to think about it.
  7. For playing the bass guitar through a set of Beats, not a popular choice but after trying quite a few different makes, including some that were recommended on this forum, they work for me. £30 ish second hand. For listening to music, a set of Audio Technica ATH - M50x.
  8. @Phil Starr no problem mate, I know sod all about pa so any input is gratefully accepted. I have been offered a set of Mackie SRM 450`s, made in Italy for a good price. From what I can gather, they are decent speakers?
  9. It wasn`t Betsy as it`s a real 64 if I remember right. It was the Jazz copy that his dad bought him that was ply. Nowt wrong with a ply bass though.
  10. The serial number and made in.. are on the back of the headstock below the tuners. On the one`s I have owned, it`s stamped into the wood and can be difficult to see. The bridge and tuners are replacements but as Maude says the pickups are the the original type. Cracking bass.
  11. I like the metal plate bit. Any ideas where I could get one?
  12. As the rest of the band don`t seem too keen on chipping in for the cost of the speakers, I have decided to buy them myself. Might save me some hassle further down the line if things go belly up. More than likely I`m going to with the Alto 412`s. I reckon that they should do the job and cover any gig when we have to supply the pa.
  13. In the early 80`s, my ice cream man George`s theme tune was "buy your drugs here!" Well it might as well have been as he got done for selling lsd tabs taped inside the dodgy vhs video`s he was renting out. All true.
  14. Mint MXR Dyna Comp Mini for sale only. Can be used for bass or guitar, usual MXR quality. Dead simple controls, output, sensitivity and attack. Runs from a normal 9 volt power supply. Even the box is as new. The casing is more red than it looks in the pics. £70 posted UK or £65 collected.
  15. After a few weeks in the studio going back and forwards between an ABM 500 / 15" speaker and my RCF 715, the RCF is the winner. We are a loud band and tbh, the RCF performs as well as the Ashdown set up and is a easy one hand lift. I have gigged in a small pub with the RCF and it was plenty loud enough but always felt the need to use a traditional amp and cab set up most times. Signal path is so easy: bass - tuner - Sans amp bass driver di - RCF. So, I`m sorted for now
  16. I think he uses in ear`s? Bit pointless unless it`s for the look.
  17. Bought this a couple of weeks back but it`s a bit too short for my Pate Way style of playing!. As new, 4 inch wide, made in the UK, cost me about £35 posted so £20 posted seems fair. https://leathergraft.co.uk/shop/ols/products/the-softy-guitar/v/4" Soft Brwn
  18. I followed Bernie on facebook and in the last couple of clips that were posted, he didn`t look good. A sad loss to the music world and his family of course. If there is some kind of after life, I hope he`s up there with his great friend Cozy Powell making a racket.
  19. I usually wear this gear when setting up for a gig in my home town of Paisley. Better to be safe.
  20. Our second guitarist who left (see above) was like that as well. Started out really nice and friendly and then gradually started to try and take over everything which wasn`t going to happen as the rhythm section had been doing this since 2015. Example: we were offered a 45 mins slot in a local venue, multi band all dayer, £200 and good exposure for us. All back line provided to allow for a quick turnover. The muppett blew this out the water and said he had to have his own gear, amps, pedals which would have taken a fair bit of time that we didn`t have and no compromise! Funny thing is though dealing with the 2 of them has made me much better at dealing with issues inside the band and made me a stronger person so there is always something to be gained from a bad situation.
  21. In the last 3 years we have changed 2 lead guitarists. The first one dissapeared and refused to answer e mails, calls etc so was replaced. Then he threw a strop when he was replaced. Next one left just before he was going to be replaced because our singer got pregnant and he wanted to replace her. And he is a gp! Needless to say he was told where to stick that idea. So a right couple of bangers who I will not have anything to do with again and it feels good! Im all for ending things nicely but sometimes its just not possible.
  22. The necks on these are less of a handful than the L`s. Nice bass!
  23. Here is what happened to us in a similar situation. Our female singer in our acdc tribute band gave us notice she was leaving. She was a decent singer, popular with the punters but boy was she hard work. Anyway, we tried out a few but the one who seemed the best vocally wasn`t really a big fan of the band and had trouble remembering the words and song structures for a good while but was a super nice person so she joined. Then everything went on hold for you know what. After everything got back to normal and we all got together again, our singer had learned the songs and had turned into a great front person for the band. Punters who have seen both versions of the band told us that they liked our new singer better and she was a much nicer person. So taking a chance on someone worked out for us in the end and we couldn`t be happier.
