2. That is really sh*t! Trevor was a great bass player and a clip of him on the whistle test with Bowie doing queen bitch made me want a Mustang. All our icons are passing away. RIP Trevor.
3.
Serious as 'it is it really happening?', or serious as in 'do you really not like it?'... ...I really don't like it.
It was serious as in "is it really happening?" Aw naw, Rush go cabaret!
4. Too expensive. And Geddy has lost all the top end in his voice if the dvd of Time machine is anything too go by. An WOT, are you serious re the highlight bit of your post????
5. I`m fine thanks Steve. Alas, I don`t have what you are looking for.
6. Steve, I`ve got lots of spare knobs (ooer!) lying about. Can you post a photo of the type you are looking for?
7. I have used the large open geared ones that look a bit like the old Fender ones and the small 2 + 2 ones that are suitable for the likes of an Ibanez. They are decent tuners and I found they hold their tuning well especially the 2 +2 ones. I have a set of black ones on my P bass and they are nice and look better than the chrome ones to me. They are cheap as well. All the wilkinson stuff is decent gear in my experiance. The tuners fitted to the Pawn Shop Mustang aren`t the same as the ones fitted to the MIM standard P or J basses, they are like the smaller diamater tuners that are fitted to the cheaper range of Japanese Fenders.
8. Geoff, you are the first person I have ever heard praising a EBO! The one I had was the biggest pile of cack I have ever played. I wish I knew you were looking for SS flats. I have a brand new set of Status ones you could have had.
9. I had a set of those Steve Harris strings. Cost me around £30 and the E sting broke whilst I was putting it round the tuner. I only took the strings off to put lemon oil on the fret board. I have not bought Rotosounds since.
10. The bass player from the band Peace, who were on Jools the other night, was playing a r/h Mustang bass upside down. Looked bloomin stupid. Same with that guy in the Doves.
11. I have spent an absolute fortune on music mags since the early 80`s. Could have bought a pre CBS P bass with the money. I must stick up for Guitar & Bass magazine here. Good interviews, vintage gear stories and decent reviews.
12.
That is a strap button. I am no fender autority but i believe they used to, or maybe still do put these on the vintage reissue basses. I seem to remember they were fitted to allow players switching from upright bass to play the electric bass in a position they were more accustomed to. So basically strap from back of the body to headstock for extreme angles. As I said I am no Fender expert so I wouldnt be suprised if what I have just said in nonsense.
You are now a Fender expert as this is correct!! I have one on the rear of my Jap re issue 57 P.
13. Agree with you 100% Ezbass. I have just learned how to use the Ignore function of the website and feel a lot better.
14. Here is my bit of freedom of speech. Anyone remember the good old days when we used to talk about all aspects of PLAYING THE BASS on here.
15. Pitch forks and flaming torches at the ready..... Nah I`m kidding. I agree with the work you are gonna do. It will look cool and sound like only a mudbucker can.
16. I`d go for the Ibby as I have never owned a bad one and it`s much cheaper than the Warwick. Or how about a Short scale Jag? Good looking bass and easily upgradeable if you so desire. 17. Edited as the singer got his ass, not kicked but gently prodded and has come good
18. I always buy decent cables. What`s the point in spending lots of cash on a guitar and amp and then getting cheap cables? I have a few Award Session cables I bought about 4 years ago and they have never let me down even though I have the habbit of standing on them when playing. I also have a Bullet 30 foot curly lead for a bit of retro madness!
19. Sounds good. This is what I should have done with my GL L2000 Tribute as I loved the bass but the neck was far too "thick." Would have saved myself a fortune and had a damm good bass. I had a MD for a while and apart from the weight, it was a great bass. Looking forward to the pics.
20. Is this the best invisible bass for metal?
21. I`ve used an Ashdown MAG300 head for about 10 years now. In that time I have owned SWR and TC amps and much prefer the MAG and have moved the other amps on. It`s very much down to personal taste. Sure, some people accuse them of being woolly, going on fire occasionally but what the heck. It would be a sad world if we all liked the same gear.
22. Merchant City in Glasgow have a Ltd Edition Sabre with a "special" paint job but at £2345, they can keep it! 23. For me, I`m always interested in fellow musicians gear. I have no desire to sound like any of the players I like. Basically I`m just a nosey git, but isn`t that one of the reasons that a lot of us come on here?
24. Whilst on the subject of the Eagles, if there are any Bernie Leadon fans out there, this is a great album he made in 1977. 25. I got a set of D`addario half rounds, medium scale and they are spot on size but that`s good to know the long scale chromes are a good fit.
