1. A US jazz just went for £475 on here within the last week. Keep your eyes open as there are some bargains to be had.
2. Have a looky at the Support Basschat tab at the top of the page. All the info is there.
3.
Why did he leave maiden, never really knew that for sure
I`m not certain but I think he was partaking too much of something and was, in his own words, "asked to leave."
4. I`m with you Conan on this sad passing. I was surprised how sad I felt last night when I read this. I never really got into Maiden until Piece of mind that had Nicko in the line up and only listened to the first few albums later. Great drummer and came across as a nice guy in the few interviews I have watched with him in. I know he was still well loved by the Iron Maiden family and can`t imagine how bad it is for them.
5. Donny. Some info from one of the guys on the SQ forum. was interested to read that this particular mustang (he got another sunburst one around '74 i think), was his original one. it was originally white w/tortie scratchplate (seen in 'doing their thing'), then stripped back to natural with a metal/mirrored scratchplate ('paper plane' at the marquee in '72), then it was a dark purply colour (not black) in various videos in the late 70s. more recently, it had its pickup changed a couple of times and of course, it's now being used in the reunion Agree with you re the size of me compared to the Mustang.
6. Regarding the Rush clip, what you have to remember is as it`s live, Ged is playing bass, singing and possibly triggering keyboard effects via footswitches at the same time. Wish I was that sloppy
7. Can somebody pm with the big secret? It`s like a on line Tales of the unexpected!
8.
Sorry the Avenger has gone but I do have a green Morris Marina estate incoming - needs a little tlc but am assured it's a good runner - and it's recommended that the driver should be as well.
I`ll take it!! Just contact me Mr F Flintstone It ok Iv`e got me coat...
9.
Drives like butter
Funnily enough that`s what the floor of an Avenger was made of. True
10. Dave Pegg uses a SR505, so one of those might be a good start and the second hand price for Ibanez are generally low, so keep your eyes open for a bargain.
11.
Well-known fact: people said they monkeyed around, but this wasn't in fact the case.
And what proof do you have of this fact? I heard that they did in fact, monkey around.......
12. Larry "the mole" Taylor did indeed play on those tracks and the guys in Canned Heat gave him dogs abuse for it on ocassions to wind him up. He is the guy playing with the Heat on the Woodstock dvd,
13. I think when they first came out they were something like $600!!
14.
This was a large part of my reasoning as well. Nothing like as professional as Mr Phillips fine bodgery. I only used 1 pen, and I was very pissed when I did it. Also my handwriting is shocking at the best of times. Like this....
But is that a genuine Dave bass......
15. Why not go onto Talkbass and ask over there. They will keep you right! I`ve done the same myself as have a good few others on here. The only problem with doing it is if somebody further down the line, tries to pass it off as a genuine Fender. But it`s your bass and if it makes you like the bass more, go for it.
16. Sad news indeed but no mention of it on tv or even radio 2 this morning.
17. Ta for the photo`s. I`m, assuming they were filming it for a dvd?
18. Sold some cables to Lee. Great to deal with, no messing about. Ta!
19. I think that it is Yamaha basses in general. Just after xmas I picked up an almost mint RBX 374 for £150. I was gonna use it as a back up for giggin but it is really good. Comftorable, not to heavy, I really like the neck, good range of sounds and it has the top of the pickups cut out in a thumb shape. I am thinking of using it as my main squeeze and using the P or Tbird as a backup.
20. The worst thing about this thread is I am now gassing for a Mustang of some description! But lack of cash means no more additions to the family.
21.
I missed out on tickets, gutted. I would have loved to see them back together again. I hope there's going to be a DVD out of this.
Yes. The show at Wembley on Sun 17th March will be filmed for a DVD/Blue Ray release in September. I will be getting that one for sure.
22.
Given that he was a great big hard-as-nails macho type, I wonder why he chose a Mustang rather than a man's bass (i.e. a Precision). Now running for cover ...
Cause he`s a shortar*e? Joins HJ in running for cover
23. I`m pretty sure it is the same bass but it is painted. I`m going to a have a search about.
24.
Excellent, look forward to hearing the story!
OOPSY WHOOPSY!! Can`t find it. I had it somewhere. From what I remember, he had fitted the humbucker pickup to it and his son was using it in whatever band he was in but with the FF tour on the go he maust have blagged it back. Enjoy the gig, should be a corker.
