I`m an experianced biker and the thought of going down the road with a bass strapped to my back is a rather large no no. Riding a 125 when you have just passed your CBT (and assuming you have little or no experiance riding a bike) is scary enough without the bass being on your back. Please trust me on this. Much better to get a small car and do your car test if you don`t already have it. (Sorry if I`m wrong about your riding experiance). But regarding a DI box, for £35 ish, the BD 121 can`t be beat and I never gig or rehearse without it being in the bag just in case,.

I tried it a one gig a couple of years ago. I plugged into my Sansamp, used a Wharfdale powered monitor and put the sound through the pa. But I found that the sound from the amp was what I missed. I imagine that with good monitors, a good pa and a sound guy, it would be cool. But there was a good covers band that gigged around my area that had what I mentioned above and the guitar and bass sound was always crap. The drums sounded good though. There is another thought. If you have to drag a decent monitor around with you, would you not be better having a lightweight bass amp?

I had recorded the bbc coverage and some of it was cringeworthy. Having said that, they have a certain swagger about them but Mick Taylor seemed, on occasion, to be on a different planet.

I think that rather large scratch, the likes of which I have not seen on a bass before, would put people off as well as the high price.

If you go on the Fender website, they explain how to adjust the intonation.

It works no problem. I did the same myself years ago due to staying in a top flat. Went down to B&Q and got them to cut the mdf to the correct size and glued and screwed it together. I meant to get some nice tolex for it but left it sprayed black. [attachment=137343:SAM_0686.JPG]

I realise you may have some underlying problems with your wrist but may I suggest you try out one of the Pawn Shop Mustangs? Short scale, supremely comfortable neck, larger than an SR, more of a Jazz profile and an excellent humbucker pickup that kicks bottom.
