Yep, a well talanted man is Andy. He plays some really melodic lines.

No not someone from the former Eastern Bloc before someone says it! I have a TC 2x10 cab that weighs 20kg. I was thinking, why not mount it on a pa tripod that is designed for speakers? Not too high, about chest height? You would have no booming due to a wooden stage, you would be able to hear it better and mabye it will carry the sound better? I realise this is likely a mental idea but hey ho!

I thought I would post this as 1 the playing on it is sublime, 2 that has to be one of the coolest looking Jazz basses ever and 3 what a set of mutton chops. The bass player is the late Bill Raffensperger. http://youtu.be/_3XFs2r_99E

Bit of a long shot this one. I have about 40 cassettes in a shoe box. 90% of them have recordngs from the now defunct Scot fm radio station, mostly late night talk shows with a guy called Steve Jack, mostly from the year 2000-2001. Basically all the nut jobs used to phone in and talk guff, argue, slag people off, sometimes people even talked sense!! The program started about 10pm so I would set the tape to record and fall asleep. They are quite funny some of them. There is also some Real radio football tapes from 2007/8 and some Scottie McClue. There is even some music tapes. Most have only been used once and could be used again no prob. The brands range from Sony, TDK, Maxell and some crap Bush ones. If anyone, preferable local wants them give me a shout. Someone may want them just to listen to or mabye you still use cassettes? These have now gone to the big cassette box in the sky.

Way Down ... disappointment of the year

Just finished the book and found it an intresting read. It is the story of Jerry`s life rather than his life as a bassist. If I want to read about P basses, I can come on here It is now on it`s way to Mickeyboro. Thanks to HJ for buying it in the first place. -
BTW whatever happend to Sarah5string who started this thread? She hasn`t been here since 2010.

Motorhead No sleep to Hammersmith deluxe edition. Disc 2 has live outtakes and is much nastier. Like finding a pickle in a tunnocks teacake.

For sale only an Ibanez SR300, the 2012 model with the 3 knob EQ, bass, middle and treble. I purchased it new and have gigged it and there are a couple of dings to mention. The most noticeable is a scratch about 10mm long below the middle control. The other mark is very small above the bridge and is only visable close up, there is also a bit of light scratching on the back of one of the tuning pegs.

They are both very differnet in subtle ways that I will explain below. The Yammy is good. The Epiphone is crap. There you go.

I'm surprised that we have "Timewasters" on BassChat
jezzaboy replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Looking from it from the other sde. I told a guy that I would buy the bass at the price he asked for it and asked how he was wanting paid. I never heard from him again. And the bass is still for sale. But at the end of the day it is up to him who he sells his bass too. All my other sales/purchases have been great and doing the biz on here is far better than e bay or gumtree. -
A couple of years ago I pluged a Sansamp into a Wharfdale 12" powered monitor and it was..........guff. It started making farty noises right away at low volumes and I had to turn the bass, drive and volume down a good bit. No use for gigging. I recall it was rated about 250 watts but I think that was rather optomistic. Mabye a classD would be better but I wouldn`t like to shell out for a powered cab and find out it was no use unless you could pick up something suitable 2nd hand? It will be intresting to find out if this works, especially if you are paying!

I bought this CV last October and have used it in the studio only as I haven`t been gigging much recently. I have recently aquired a Jap P bass and as I only need 1, this one is surplus. It is in as new condition, no dents or marks and totally standard as it came out of the box. Any blemishes on the photos are caused by the light. It weighs 9lbs on the old bathroom scales. I am looking for a trade only. Trade value around £230. I am not quite sure what I`m looking for in trade but here are some ideas. Cv Jazz Epi Thunderbird Pro Yamaha BB 424 Something else with neck through construction? I do not have any spare cash to add to the deal so something of equivelent value please. Any questions ask away.

Re 5th fret. I seem to recall that a punk/ska bandmember whose name escapes me for now, turned up at Aston "famly man" Barrett house for a bass lesson. He opened his front door and said to the guy "nothing above the 5th fret!" and promptly shut the door. And here endeth the lesson Grasshopper. Apologies for the thread diversion.
Good point. It might well be a mix of both. Stick a cheapish set of rounds on in the factory & the player will bond with that type of string & have a fear of trying flats as the MD can tell everyone that they're very dull sounding & have no top end, which some folk take as being "you can't hear anything above the 7th fret"!
Above the 7th fret!!!! Are you insane????? There is nothing above the 7th fret. The world will end there. I have Status flats (damm good value, about £20 delivered) on a P and D`addario on the Yam and Ibby so get the best of both worlds. I agree with the earlier posts regarding flats. Mine have been on a few different basses, are about 18 months old and they sound the same as when I bought them so what`s in it for the manufacturers?
