Dave Pegg uses a SR505, so one of those might be a good start and the second hand price for Ibanez are generally low, so keep your eyes open for a bargain.

Why not go onto Talkbass and ask over there. They will keep you right! I`ve done the same myself as have a good few others on here. The only problem with doing it is if somebody further down the line, tries to pass it off as a genuine Fender. But it`s your bass and if it makes you like the bass more, go for it.

I think that it is Yamaha basses in general. Just after xmas I picked up an almost mint RBX 374 for £150. I was gonna use it as a back up for giggin but it is really good. Comftorable, not to heavy, I really like the neck, good range of sounds and it has the top of the pickups cut out in a thumb shape. I am thinking of using it as my main squeeze and using the P or Tbird as a backup.

The worst thing about this thread is I am now gassing for a Mustang of some description! But lack of cash means no more additions to the family.

I`m pretty sure it is the same bass but it is painted. I`m going to a have a search about.

I owned an SRX 700 in the past that I got off one of the guys on here. Good bass, powerful pickups, 2 band EQ, neck through and a bit of a heavy bugger if I remember right. Never heard of the 690 but Ibanez have had so many different models out. [attachment=129062:DSCN2705.JPG]
