1. So, you don`t like to stand out in a crowd? Lovely looking bass you have there.
2. Thanks Paul! Have had a decent cash offer but I would prefer a straight swap or bass plus cash my way.
3. I bought this in June from Andertons for an AC/DC tribute band that i had joined as I couldn`t afford a 79 MM and this looks the part for the gig. Unfortunately this project has gone belly up after lots of rehersals and a gig a few weeks ago and this has been sitting there doing nothing. Swaps: A P bass, either a 60`s classic or a HW1 Swaps plus cash my way: Standard P bass, black or white with rosewood neck Squier classic vibe P in fiesta red Squier classic vibe jazz in white Thunderbird Pro Condition wise the bass has one very small ding in the front roughly where your arm would come down over the body but it is very hard to see, a couple of small dings on the back and a mark on the back between the body edge and the battery box. You can see the mark in the photo. The neck and the frets are in exc condition. The bass weighs in at 10lb on the bathroom scales. It will come with the rather nice Sterling gig bag. This bass has a Jazz style neck, a 2 band EQ and a slab body made of ash. Here is a link to the Sterling website. 4. Do you think that is BigRedx in disguise? Knowing his love of Fenders......
5. If you make a mistake do it again the next time round and people will think it`s meant, then say to the guys it was a jazz chord. Always works for me! If you played for 3.5 hours solid, no wonder you were cream crackered. I always find that if I haven`t played a gig for a few weeks, it takes a few songs to get the old digits back up to "gig pace."
6. Looking good Paul! Where did you get it?
7. Teenage kicks? One of the best songs ever. Sex on fire? The chicks love it. Wishing well? Good track but I have never played it live. But then again, I have never had to play all right now either for which I am eternally grateful. That`s the problem being in a covers band. Do you play the same old mince as everyone else and get slagged off / slit your wrists, or play less well know tracks and get no response from the punters?
8. Just found this track and thought I would share it with any Horace fans out there. Nice playing and a wee solo as well. Enjoy. 9. Jan Akkerman - Streetwalker. Flippin fabby doo!
10. I had one a couple of years ago and whilst it was a decent bass with a good range of tones, it just seemed to have a massive body if you know what I mean. And a chunky neck unlike the SR ibby`s but I imagine that would be one of the reasons for some people buying one.
11. Silddx that is sage advice. The next time I ba**s up on stage and get one of THOSE looks form singer boy, I will tell him, take it easy, I`m following my own path to musical enlightment!
12. I had one bass lesson when I had just got the bass and paid the sum of £17 for 1 hour. Really basic stuff but the thing was it was in a dodgy part of town and I was pooping myself walking around the area with a bass, so I never went back and that is why I am the talanted player I am today. Is there a smiley for when you are talking bulls**t?
13. Uke, I have just spotted this and cannot belive it. 300 bucks? Slapbassteve, you are spot on about the decimal point being in the wrong place. And the missing neck screw? That`s not important anyway as there is no tension on the neck is there? Can sniffing nitro paint send you doo wally by any chance?
14. This was on Glasgow Gumtree earlier. A Les Paul standard for £400. Got to be a scam? Well, the guy has added a few additional photo`s and the understatement of the year. Look at the headstock photo`s. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/gibson-standard-2002/109289496 "A few bumps!!!!" He says. It looks like the headstock has had a rather bad break. I know that this can be common with Gibson`s but you usually see them repaired to a high standard whilst this looks like someone has stuck some no more nails in it!
15. Zoom B1 bass pedal. http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/b1
16. I have always wondered why the skyline Laklands were so expensive. The G&L Tributes and the Sterling Ray 34`s are made in Indonesia and the build quality on them is superb. They retail around 575-650 mark and while I haven`t checked out any Lak`s recently, I would not consider buying one as I just don`t see how they can justify the price of these models.
17. That is a shock. I loved his playing on Elton`s hit`s show he did a few years back at Madison square gardens. Even sadder when it seems like it is suicide. Yet another sad loss to the music industry this year and of course, to his family and bandmates.
18. If you can afford to keep the Jazz, keep it. One day you will yearn for that oh so sweet sound that can only be had from a Jazz. I know and have been there many times. At the moment, having sworn never again to purchase another Jazz, a Jap 75 re issue is all I can think about. Damm you GAS!!! Why must you mess with my mind!!
19. I had no idea that Meatloaf was as good on the bass. Nice tone.
20.
I'm wombling free right now - laundry crisis.
That though has put me right off me sasauge supper that has.
21. In the acdc project I was involved in, we dropped everything down a half step. You don`t notice it when the whole band is playing and I think that you should try and help the singer anyway you can. Unless he is a to*ser of course!
22.
They were notorious in their day. Would turn up to gigs on the pretence of 'We're here to clear up after the punters have gone' and the next thing you know they'd be away with your best instrument in one paw and half your back line on a trolley legging it back to the common. Thieving hairy bastads.
The funniest thing I have read on here all year!
23.
I preferred them them when they were underground....
I preffered them when they were overground.........
24. This may be a stupid question but I know very little about ohms or amp power. My old Ashdown combo quoted a power output of 300w at 4 ohms but the internal speaker was valued at 8 ohms as most speakers seem to be. I realise you can get the full 300w by conecting a second cab and that brings it down to 4 ohms and you get full power. Correct? Why don`t they just fit a speaker capable of running at 300w at 4 ohms? I guess there must be a sound reason for it?

New Zoom B3

I needed a new tuner but spoted one of these. I got it and am well impressed. Doubt I will use the effects on offer in my current band but they will no doubt come in handy at some point. Just need to pay the wife back the 150 quid
