1. I had no idea that Meatloaf was as good on the bass. Nice tone.
2.
I'm wombling free right now - laundry crisis.
That though has put me right off me sasauge supper that has.
3. In the acdc project I was involved in, we dropped everything down a half step. You don`t notice it when the whole band is playing and I think that you should try and help the singer anyway you can. Unless he is a to*ser of course!
4.
They were notorious in their day. Would turn up to gigs on the pretence of 'We're here to clear up after the punters have gone' and the next thing you know they'd be away with your best instrument in one paw and half your back line on a trolley legging it back to the common. Thieving hairy bastads.
The funniest thing I have read on here all year!
5.
I preferred them them when they were underground....
I preffered them when they were overground.........
6. This may be a stupid question but I know very little about ohms or amp power. My old Ashdown combo quoted a power output of 300w at 4 ohms but the internal speaker was valued at 8 ohms as most speakers seem to be. I realise you can get the full 300w by conecting a second cab and that brings it down to 4 ohms and you get full power. Correct? Why don`t they just fit a speaker capable of running at 300w at 4 ohms? I guess there must be a sound reason for it?

New Zoom B3

I needed a new tuner but spoted one of these. I got it and am well impressed. Doubt I will use the effects on offer in my current band but they will no doubt come in handy at some point. Just need to pay the wife back the 150 quid
8. I would say you got it for a good price. I have seen s/h ones go for around the 800 quid mark. If you moved it on I`m confident you would at least get your money back.
9. I reckon I have been playing about 12 years now but it took me about 4 years to pluck up the courage and answer an ad on Gumtree looking for a bass guitarist for a charity band. I have now played loads of gigs and am a confident live player but my standard of playing/technique isn`t very good. I now play in an ac/dc covers band and am really enjoying it.
10. Good on you Joel for comming on here and laying your cards on the table so to speak. Funnily enough, I have just bought the latest edition with Geddy on the front and I haven`t been buying it much lately as I was getting pi**ed off reading reviews of really expensive basses that I couldn`t afford. I don`t know if this has been suggested but how about a feature where you focus on one guy`s collection with lot`s of nice photo`s and some background about how they got the gear?
11. Top player and all round decent guy. Pity it`s so far away.
12. Marvin. I`ve got one of the Ray 34 ca models which has the thinner neck. I would agree with Paul, they are slightly deeper than a Jazz neck but not by much and not as deep as say a P bass neck. I don`t know how to measure the radius of the neck but if you get a tape measure and put it round the neck at the first fret, the width is 63mm. Don`t know if it helps. I really like the neck profile and have included a few pics. As for the bass, I really like it. I bought it as a Clff Williams lookalike on a budget. The neck pocket is uber tight, the frets are perfect, the bass was nicley set up when it arrived and the 2 band eq is ideal for me. The only down side was the tuners felt quite "slack" to me but from what I have read this is not common and to be fair, in the studio they held their tuning well. I had already ordered a set of Schallers from Thomman and have put them on and they look the biz and work perfectly of course. 13. A wise man once said "The man who maketh no mistakes has not played a saturday night at the dog and duck" Don`t beat yourself too much, all gigging muso`s make mistakes. Punters don`t usually notice or if they do they are usually in a band themselves and they don`t count as you are the one up there putting it on the line and they are scratching their chin with half a bitter wishing they were up there making mistakes.
14. I ordered a set of Schaller tuners from them on monday and they arrived yesterday. Great service and communication and I got them cheaper than I could from the UK even after having to pay the 10 euro postage as it was below 199.
15. I have 4 at the mo but had 9 at one time which was mental as I wasn`t in a band at that point! They all have their uses. Thunderbird. Was going to sell but will be used as a live backup. VMJ. Converted to fretless and used at home. P bass. Well you`ve gotta have a P please Bob! And my latest purchase, a Sterling Ray 34 ca. I have recently joined an ac/dc tribute band and not having 2000+ to buy a 79 Ray ala Cliff williams, this one looks the biz and is top notch apart from the tuners which will be replaced by a set of Schallers this week. I would relly like to be the type of guy who owns 2 basses but it ain`t gonna happen.
16. Kenny bought my Yam through Gumtree but it turns out he is on here as well Nice guy to do biz and have a chat with.
17. And Tom1946 has a tasty one for sale right now........ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/178705-ibanez-sr300m-maple-board-new/
18. Really nice basses. I had a red/maple neck one a while back and they are exc value for money. Well finished and very comfortable to play.
19. A Pete Way story and true.... He went out to buy some cigs and ended up on a UFO American tour for months on end.
20. In 1985 I went out to buy a push bike and came home with a Sinclair Spectrum.
21. Paisley, just outside of Glasgow.
22. This has more than likely been posted before. A 79 interview with the man. http://www.ricksuchow.com/press-group-248.html
23. That`s right Sheldon, no one on here ever buys anything!!! Tim!!
24.
Indeed.I don't recall seeing JJB on the Punk Brittania programmes either, but his name was brought up earlier.
JJB was in the first program when they were disscusing the roots of punk rock broadcast the friday before. He was only in it for a quick chat.
