Bargin!! Well done. Jez

Don`t forget if you buy from the net you have 7 days to return it due to the distance selling regs. I think with Thomann it`s 30 days. Jez

There are quite a few well know members that have dissapeared within the last year. Mabye it`s aliens? Or mabye they got fed up reading/chating about basses and decide to play the things instead. What a novel concept-must try it sometime. Jez

For £350???? They usually go for around the 400 to 430 mark on here. That bloody awful scratchplate would cost about 50 to buy on it`s own I have heard nothing but good things about these and I played one a while back in a shop and was impressed. But I would say that with a 700 budget you could get a used US 2008+ model for around the same money. Jez

Status half rounds on all my basses. Not as zingy as rounds, not as dull as flats and nice and smooth to the touch Sounds like an ad for fairy liquid. Jez

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It`s returned to haunt us once again!! It`s a genuine as a £14 note. Jez
I'd personally recommend going for a CIJ/MIJ P-Bass, or if you come across one, an old (MIJ) Tokai Hardpuncher.
And Lozz has a Tokai for sale right now!! Just in case Lozz didn`t want to plug his own for sale thread. I would rather buy off of someone on here than take a chance on buying something blind off the internet. I wouldn`t write off all Mexican Fenders either. Some people on here have had some cracking MIM`s. The Mexican Mike Dirnt and Classic 50`s P bass are in your price range second hand and they are superb basses for the money. Jez

Wasn`t a Ibby Blazer his main back up bass? Sure I read something about it a couple of years ago. I suppose with a touring "name band" there could be a number of back ups. Would be nice to own something Phil played though. Jez

Don`t know if this has been posted already. 66 P bass body restored. The seller admits there are no date stamps on the body so we have no way of telling if it`s a genuine 66 body. The seller states that the body alone is worth 600 quid. Until you look at his recent buying feedback where you find a 66 body bought for £65 plus shipping and taxes so around £120? Fair enough he has done quite a lot of work to it. If I were anal enough I would work out how much it cost to put together as it`s all in his buying feedback. I`m not trying to say the guy is dishonet or anything, it just seems like a lot of cash for something that is made from parts. I had a look on TB and in the US there ain`t a lot of love for Ashdown as they don`t seem to have a large presence over there but they do seem to love their Ampegs. Are they still made in the US or is most of the gear now made in China? Jez
Also see what they think about putting a Fender decal on your custom build.
Discreet you will go to the bad fire. Jez
your joking?
Nope, no kidding. Give me an Ashdown over an Ampeg any time. Don`t like the sound from any of them that I have played through. As Munk says above it could be the amps in the studio that are guff. Jez

In the rehersal studio we use, I love the sound of a P through an Ashdown ABM and Ampeg 8x10 but sometimes they have an Ampeg SVT and I think it sounds crap. I have tried several different Ampeg heads and they all sound crap when I play through them. I think I will join Talkbass and see what they think about crap Ampegs Jez

I like it. Big enough for pub gigs, nice and light, good features like the built in tuner and the tube effect. If it`s the same idea as the BG500`s, it`s good for some dirt. Nice price as well. Jez
The custom shop version comes with a proshetic nose and a chap called Serge who gives you a hefty kick in the knackers just before you start singing.
Do you need to pay extra for this or is it part of the package? Jez

Donny, the dog`s name is Rosie and it`s cute and she knows it. One of 2 dumb blondes in my life..... Jez

Sounds nice. What`s the deal with the chambered body? Less weight, better sound? I never knew you could get that spec. It wil look the biz with the Status neck but I seem to remember reading on here that you have to be carefull when drilling the holes for the neck/body joint. Here`s the post from Bassbod. Posted 02 May 2010 - 11:51 AM I wouldn't do it again. Unless you're very confident and steady handed, have sharp tools and know a bit about carbon/graphite do's and don'ts. The carbon fibre is very thin and brittle - ie the srews only grip 2-3mm of resin, then its fresh air inside the neck, with some foam. The holes have to be counter-sunk to avoid chipping as the screws go in - it all feels a bit high risk on an expensive neck. I did it fine, but its not a forgiving material. I've got a lot of respect for Rob Green, making basses out of that stuff, and to such a high standard. Edit for a PS: I also wouldn't do it again for sonic reasons - way too brittle/hard a sound for me...but lots of people love it Might be worth talking to the guy? Jez

Here`s one. Don`t know how good it is. It`s quite an easy song. Hope this helps. http://www.911tabs.com/link/?1779549 Jez

Glad you like the bass Donny but I have had an EB O and an EB 3 and have found that they have 2 sounds. Thud and slightly more thud. Good if you are looking for a thud sound. Still, never did Jack Bruce or Andy Fraser any harm so what do I know Jez

How did that happen - "I've got blisters on my fingers "
jezzaboy replied to thunderbird13's topic in General Discussion
I never really get blisters on my picking hand. Could be because: A- I use half rounds all the time, nice and smooth B- I don`t dig in hard enough but volume has never been a problem C- I`m from Paisley and am a right hard b**tard and are you looking at ma bird wee man!!!!! Answers on a postcard to Blue Peters usual address. Jez -
