1. Cardboard box suitable for shipping a bass in. Long shot I know but if anyone wants to collect it from me in Paisley give me a shout. Will keep until it does the wife`s head in!! Jez
2. The link is for an e bay sale D Where`s the link man???? I was wondering why the Epi Tbird pro`s seem to be dissapearing from shops. Jez Beat me to it!
3. I`m sorry, they most likely love the sound of the basses they use but nothing looks more wrong than an upside bass guitar. Jez

Strings

Here`s a recent thread to give you some ideas. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/169384-what-strings-do-you-use/ Jez
5. Or Out to play Jazz. The man spoke wisdom. No not Norman before anyone says! Jez
6. Bargin!! Well done. Jez
7. Don`t forget if you buy from the net you have 7 days to return it due to the distance selling regs. I think with Thomann it`s 30 days. Jez
8. There are quite a few well know members that have dissapeared within the last year. Mabye it`s aliens? Or mabye they got fed up reading/chating about basses and decide to play the things instead. What a novel concept-must try it sometime. Jez
9. For £350???? They usually go for around the 400 to 430 mark on here. That bloody awful scratchplate would cost about 50 to buy on it`s own I have heard nothing but good things about these and I played one a while back in a shop and was impressed. But I would say that with a 700 budget you could get a used US 2008+ model for around the same money. Jez
10. Status half rounds on all my basses. Not as zingy as rounds, not as dull as flats and nice and smooth to the touch Sounds like an ad for fairy liquid. Jez
11. AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It`s returned to haunt us once again!! It`s a genuine as a £14 note. Jez
12.
Oops.
The things you see when you ain`t got a gun!! Jez
13. Re winding the string the wrong way. It`s almost as annoying as people who leave the un-trimmed ends of the string hanging out, mostly on guitars but I have seen it on a few basses. Or people who don`t put the end of the string down into the hole on the tuner peg Jez
14.
I'd personally recommend going for a CIJ/MIJ P-Bass, or if you come across one, an old (MIJ) Tokai Hardpuncher.
And Lozz has a Tokai for sale right now!! Just in case Lozz didn`t want to plug his own for sale thread. I would rather buy off of someone on here than take a chance on buying something blind off the internet. I wouldn`t write off all Mexican Fenders either. Some people on here have had some cracking MIM`s. The Mexican Mike Dirnt and Classic 50`s P bass are in your price range second hand and they are superb basses for the money. Jez
15. Wasn`t a Ibby Blazer his main back up bass? Sure I read something about it a couple of years ago. I suppose with a touring "name band" there could be a number of back ups. Would be nice to own something Phil played though. Jez
16. Don`t know if this has been posted already. 66 P bass body restored. The seller admits there are no date stamps on the body so we have no way of telling if it`s a genuine 66 body. The seller states that the body alone is worth 600 quid. Until you look at his recent buying feedback where you find a 66 body bought for £65 plus shipping and taxes so around £120? Fair enough he has done quite a lot of work to it. If I were anal enough I would work out how much it cost to put together as it`s all in his buying feedback. I`m not trying to say the guy is dishonet or anything, it just seems like a lot of cash for something that is made from parts. 17. I had a look on TB and in the US there ain`t a lot of love for Ashdown as they don`t seem to have a large presence over there but they do seem to love their Ampegs. Are they still made in the US or is most of the gear now made in China? Jez
18.
Also see what they think about putting a Fender decal on your custom build.
Discreet you will go to the bad fire. Jez
19.
your joking?
Nope, no kidding. Give me an Ashdown over an Ampeg any time. Don`t like the sound from any of them that I have played through. As Munk says above it could be the amps in the studio that are guff. Jez
20. No problem. Good wee bass, nice and light and good for doing John Paul Jones impressions in your Led Zep tribute band. And Liam is a good guy to deal with. Jez
21. In the rehersal studio we use, I love the sound of a P through an Ashdown ABM and Ampeg 8x10 but sometimes they have an Ampeg SVT and I think it sounds crap. I have tried several different Ampeg heads and they all sound crap when I play through them. I think I will join Talkbass and see what they think about crap Ampegs Jez
22. I like it. Big enough for pub gigs, nice and light, good features like the built in tuner and the tube effect. If it`s the same idea as the BG500`s, it`s good for some dirt. Nice price as well. Jez
23.
The custom shop version comes with a proshetic nose and a chap called Serge who gives you a hefty kick in the knackers just before you start singing.
Do you need to pay extra for this or is it part of the package? Jez
24. Donny, the dog`s name is Rosie and it`s cute and she knows it. One of 2 dumb blondes in my life..... Jez
