Ibanez make really good basses, in fact one of them is travelling up the m6 with my name on it as we speak. If you have small hands, the neck is ideal and as most of them have an active circut in them, they give you more tonal options. I have owned several Ibbys in the past and they have all been good value for money. Have a look at the Yamaha BB414 (if I remember right). They generally go for around 200 quid on here and they are really tasty, have a narrow neck and a set of P/J pickups. Never heard a bad word about them on here. Re the Jim Decon. I think they are made by the same guys who make the SX range of basses and any I saw for the money they were asking were ok. Jez

I have recently bought a 60`s Jazz bass and it is one of the lightest basses I have ever had and that is made in the same factory as the 50`s P. But as said earlier, the weight varies so much you just need to try a few. If you fell in love with the SG bass then get it. If you fall out of love with it, you can always swap it for something else on here. Only can decide which bass is the right one for you. Good luck and give us a shout back! Jez

I know that Stadium Elites use dark blue fabric at the tuning peg end. The only Rotosound medium scale strings I have used were all red at the tuning peg end. Jez

[/quote] Don`t think so. I had a ba2 on a classic Jazz, lined up perfectly. I am pretty sure that the ba is designed to fit the 5 holes on a P or Jazz. If you are looking for something solid you could try a G&L bridge. A right solid piece of kit. Jez

I had a CIJ P bass a few years ago and I wouldn`t say that it was any better than any of the other P basses I have owned. At the back end of last year I bought a Mex Clasic 60`s Jazz and this thing is spot on, I have no issues with it at all. It`s well put together and the finish is flawless. In the end a good bass that suits you is what we are all looking for, no matter what country it was made in. Jez

According to the old faithfull Fender bass book their 5 string came into being in 65 but it was a high C instead of a low B and had only 15 frets. It never caught on. Don`t know if it was the first 5er though. Jez

I had a Westone that I bought for 50 quid and the P style pickup was one of the hottest I have ever heard. But I couldn`t keep it as it was far too ugly and heavy! I should have took the pickup out of it before I punted it though. Jez

I think the problem is that the screw holes don`t match up on some of the non original fender types and on some fender ones as well. I have bought a cheapish one before and the shape was slightly different. Regarding the truss rod adjustment, a few mins with a small bevel edged file will sort that out. Jez

Why not go for the Status half wounds? They are rounds that have been smoothed to make them between a flat and a round. They are great strings for the price. Their flats are excellent value as well. But strings are such a personal thing you would need to get a set and find out for yourself. Great clip and well done that man for finding it. T B gets a fantastic sound from that EB but I tried to clock the amp head. Was it a Marshall guitar head or did the bass heads look the same as the guitar heads? Very dodgy wig/sidebreezers combo though. Jez

Apparently the headstock is 70`s style but he can`t confirm this. That may be the case but everything else screams P bass copy with fake decal on it. You would think that they would come up with something original other than in the loft. Been kept in the cat mabye?
