3. At the weekend I bought a time machine from Fleabay and used it to go back in time to right after the op posted this and have bought the item. So its defo sold. And seeing as I did this, this post now occupies a redundant timeline and will soon dissapear into the ether................. Its amazing the sh*te you can buy on the net these days! Jez
4. You believe something in BGM? I bought the mag after giving it a miss due to it being crap basically and on page 7, they have an article about a Dingwall super P where they state that the Dingwall was based on "Leo Fenders classic 1960`s design." I rest my case. Jez
5. Nik I may have got the deatails for the cable wrong. According to their website, it`s a 1/4 to male like the photo below. Sorry for the confusion but I always thought the male went into the female so to speak. Also it appears it is actually a speaker cable but we used it to connect a di box to the xlr inputs on the desk. Jez
6. Just gonna keep em in case I get another band together. Jez
7. 550 quid? Bargin of the week. Jez
8. Nothing worse than a knob that won`t fit, boom boom! Jez
9. By the looks of the 1st pic, someone has had the "traditional black and decker" oot. Jez
10. Best gig I ever played? The next one I play hopefully! Jez
11. I am very limited technically but I can play in time and hit the right notes (most of the time anyway ). I don`t really care if I can`t paly as well as someone else, I can get by. I enjoy myself, the guys I play with think I`m ok and at the end of the day that`s what matters. Oh and I can`t slap and frankly couldn`t care less. Jez
12. I bought a Mex Jazz bass from E bay a couple of years ago, played it for a while and then sold it onto Donnboy before he was a member of this fine forum. About a year later I put a Tbird pro up for sale and Donny got in touch and wanted to buy it. Rather than a cash deal he asked if I wanted the Jazz back and so we agreed the swap. He came down and we exchanged them, so I had my old Jazz back. 24 hours later Donny is back on the blower asking if he could get the Jazz back and he would give me the 250 I was looking for the Tbird originally. No problem as he loved it more than I did. So all in I owned the Jazz for 48 hours after getting it back. Is this a record or can you do better? Jez
13. Just did a trade with Chris, brand new guy, bass was in as good a nick as he stated on ad, good communication and sent his bass to me first as I didn`t have a box. Ta! Jez I would like to add that when Chris got the bass, there was an earthing problem or similar, causing feedback. Chris has been a great help in trying to resolve the issue and his help and patience is greatly appreciated by myself.
14. I recently looked into gettin a P pickup put in place of the neck pickup. It was gonna cost 40 for labour-the routing and wiring, 40 ish for a custom scratchplate and around 50 for a pickup. In the end up I swapped the Jazz for a P on here. Why not make a Berry Oakley Tractor bass? Now that would be something! Jez
15. £250 sounds like an alright price. There are a couple on gumtree local to me and they are asking 350 ish although these are the, "more fantastic blinged up can you tell the differance" newish models. Jez
16. Don`t know what it is but that`s a MM style bridge. I don`t think that is an original part Is Bassassin still on the missing list? He might know. Just checked, not seen since May 2011. Hope he is ok. Jez
17. I think that we are missing something here. All credit to you Jumanji. I think that this is one of the very few times when someone joins the site and asks for advice about BUYING something rather than joining and trying to sell something, then heading for the hills never to be seen again! Jez
18.
Man, I can't begin to describe the relief
No underpants for your supper tonight boy. Straight off to bed! Jez
19. I had a audition with a function band a few weeks ago and they weren`t very good. They played everything at 200 miles an hour. I asked them how many songs in the set. I told them they would need about 60 as they played so bloomin fast. It kind of went down hill from there. After 45mins I said I was off, thats when they told me they had someone coming down after me. They e mailed me the next day saying they had chosen the other player, I was a good player blah blah. Thank god for that I thought. Four days later I get another e mail asking if I still wanted to join as the other guy, an ex pro apparently, had decide that he wasn`t ready to join another band. More than likley, came to the same conclusion as me: they are crap. No I didn`t join. Jez
20.
I'll eat my own underpants if that sells for less than £350
Y fornts or boxers? Jez
21. Nah that`s unusual. If it`s a covers band, they should give you a list of songs that they are competent at and ask you to learn them as best you can. In the future it`s always wise to ask if they are in the original keys as some singers can`t hit some of the notes and may have changed the key. It`s good that you liked the guys as this can be as important as the music. Remember also, you are auditioning them as much as they are auditioning you. Jez
22. I used a MAG300 1X15 combo for about 3 years playing quite largish pubs and it was always loud enough. Does your band play at loud volumes? If you are standing right in front of your rig, try going out into the pub a bit as it is always louder out front than close up. If you plug in a 15inch 8 ohms extension speaker, this should give you the full 300w and the 15 should add some bottom end to your sound. And what do you mean you can`t afford a "proper rig"? You`ve got one Don`t worry about the Ashdown haters on here, they are only jealous Jez
23. Why isn`t there a "bit of a talentless chancer who has mananged to bluff his way through it and has got away with it" option? That would fit me down to the ground! Jez
