1. To the OP. Yes there will be a place for Real musicians (whatever that means ). People will always want to hear music played by real musos rather than a singer with midi files. A decent player will always get work. In the late 70`s and 80`s everyone thought that the synth would kill off the demand for musicians, just like in the 60`s the likes of radio 1 could only have so many records played in an hour as the MU though that their members would lose a lot of work if the radio played only records. If you want go to do a uni course, go for it as anything that makes you feel more confident and makes you a better player can only do you good. Why not pm some of the pro working musos on here and ask them for advice, I`m sure that they will be happy to help. Jez
2. Just got the dvd. I thought Time stand still was really good as I haven`t played the track in ages but I was really dissapointed with Geddy`s singing. He just can`t seem to hit the high stuff anymore. No more Rush dvd`s for me I`m afraid. At least I didn`t pay 60+ quid to see them live. I`m away back to watch some of the earlier stuff. Jez
3. I take 2 basses into the rehersal studio never mind a gig! Although I have never broken a string or had a bass fail on me at a gig, for me, the thought of not having a back up is too scary too think about. I always have a sans amp with me and lots of spares for most eventualities. Mabye it`s the old boy scout in me. Dib Dib and wiggle wiggle!! Jez
4. Don`t take this the wrong way but if you liked the Geddy so much why not try one of those? Be sure you want a T bird as they sit totally different on your body to any other bass I have had. To me, the end of the neck seemed very far away. I have had 3, 2 epi`s and a pro and although they sounded fine, I found that I couldn`t get used to the shape. I`m not running the bass down, just not right for me. Jez
5. No wonder some guys in guitar shops get a bad name. May I recomend Status flats. Great strings and very good value as well. Just go to the online shop bit and the strings are in there. 6. It seems to fit the Jazz belonging to the guy in your pic Geofio, it will fit no prob! I believe his is a 72? Although his may have the 60`s spacing? I have fitted a BA to a Classic 60`s Jazz, it cost me about 70 quid and after puting it through the amp cranked up, it made no differance to my ears. But we have had this argument many times before on here: Baddass v BBOT. Jez
7. Gotta agree, top bass player and a top band. Try and hear "gudbye t`Jane" and "one eyed jacks with moustaches" from Alive. Very unusual for a mega popular band to be so kick a*s. Jez
8. That`s shocking that is, no straplocks on Sid`s bass! Does anyone know where this bass ended up? Jez
9.
And probably a 1 in 5 chance of getting a good Precision around that time too......... (runs for cover)
This can`t be right as EVERY 70`s P bass that pops up for sale sounds fantastic and is quite light as well Jez
10. If you ain`t enjoying it, don`t do it. I was that man and walked recently. If you can get the most suited guys from the 2 bands and form it into 1 decent band that you can live with, fandabidozy!! Either that or you and I form a 2 man bass playing super group! Jez
11. I recently left the band I started 4 years ago as the singer was behaving like an ar*e and constantlly moaning about everything. So I buggered in the direction of off. Then the guitarist had the cheek to send me a text saying how they were dissapointed that I had left along with the pa cables and mikes that I had paid for myself. That was after I told them that they could keep the mixer and the speakers that I had a third share in. Some people. I think that most bands need a social worker attached to them. Jez
12. They do take a bit longer on delivery sometimes but they are great strings and seriously good value for money. Jez
13. Gig wise I have played about 20 gigs, bought one bass as I have been skint most of the year and last week left the band I started in 2008 as the singer was acting like a complete tosser, always moaning about something or other. Still, I`m enjoying my saturdays off and am currently looking for a gig. Gotta be positive!! Jez
14. I`m not really a Stingray lover but that is really nice and at a decent price as well. Jez
15. Gonna get shot of it another way.
16. I got a Jazz neck from CH and was impressed with it for the money I paid, around 60 if I remember. I have it fitted to my VMJ and apart from a slight gap of around 1 mm at the neck pocket, it`s fine. And the gap is no worse than on some 70`s Fenders I have seen The frets are nicley done, no sharp edges and it comes with the nut fitted and cut. I will try one of their bodies in the future as the one`s from Allparts are shockinly expensive. Jez

18.
wish i could justify having 2!
You can! I`ll even meet you in Perth!!!! Jez
19. Jesso, I`d rather note post for the reasons in the 1st post but if I do decide to post, I`ll give you a shout. Jez
20.
Any idea about the weight? They usually weigh a bit, which has always stopped me from owning one. Shame cos that's a beaut.
I don`t own a set of scales Jesso but it`s not a heavy bass. It`s nowhere near as heavy as my VMJ with the maple body. A few guys local to me on here have had a play of it and they didn`t mention the weight. Looking at previous sales, Tom1946 sold a couple recently and they were around the 9lb mark so that shouldn`t be too far away. Jez

22. I wouldn`t bother with how they compare against a "real" Overwater. It`s a fantastic looking bass and you seem well happy with it, so, result!!!! Jez
23. Is SUNN not one of those Jap o crapo , or mabye not so crapo, 70`s brand. I think someone has a Sunn Mustang bass on here The parts cbs take over sounds a bit far fetched to me. Jez
24. I have 4 at the mo and I play them all. I tend to rotate the ones I play in the house or at rehersals but gig with either the Jazz or the g & l. My problem is I love the neck on the Jazz but love the pickups/sound from the g & l. I really wish I could be the guy who plays one bass all the time and is happy to do so. Jez
25.
If it's based in Paisley, don't ask too many questions!
Donny the next time your in Paisley, me and the lads are gonna break all 6 fingers on your right hand. Let`s see ya play then!! Jez
