1. That`s a stunning piece of kit but don`t fancy having it round my shoulder for 2 hours at a time. Jez
2. Go for it! If you don`t, you will only sit and wonder what might have happened. Jez
3. Good shout Steve, I had forgot about that CH Guitars. I`m going to take a punt one of their jazz necks. Bodies look ok as well. Jez
4. If you like the sound of the Mex Standard best, why are you even asking the question Sometimes they get a bad rep on here but it`s what YOU like best, so, go for it! What colour combo was it? Jez
5. I always carry my Sansamp with me. That way if the amp goes for a Burton, at least you can shove it into the pa. Or for a much cheaper alternative, as Lozz says, a BD121. Jez
6. Here we have a MIJ P bass, which is MUCH better than a CIJ P bass. Except that the tuners aren`t original, they have been badly fitted and the body isn`t the original either! So, what you are bidding on is a Jap pickup, electrics and neck. And these go for between 550 and 700 Still, at least the guy isn`t trying to kid us on it`s something it`s not http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-JAP-BASS-MADE...=item3cb791cc8f Jez
7.
B5, I can guarantee that you are a leagues better bass player than me. I can't read, I sit on root notes etc. Your technical ability (whatever it is) is perfectly adequate for many bands, so wave goodbye to this lot and there will be someone else out there in which you will fit in perfectly. Chemistry between band members is more important than ability IMHO
That has to be the most sensible thing I`ve read on here for ages! Look at me, can`t read, can`t do any slapping or fancy stuff and what`s that thin string on the bottom of the bass for yet I play in a reasonably busy covers band having it large as they say It is down to the guys that you play with. Forget about these losers and get yourself another band or start your own. Don`t give up as I think that you will only regret it. You have always come across to me as someone who is quite passionate about your playing when I read your posts. Jez
8.
I also enjoyed it, especially as Avery Sunshine's bass player seemed to be playing a Squier Classic Vibe, awesome!
I thought that was a Classic Vibe. Looks like a bridge and tuner upgrade but good to see one on the telly. PJ Harvey? That`s what happens when you stop taking your medication kids. Jez
9. Just read an interview with Bootsy in Guitar and Bass mag. His Space Bass has 4 outputs going into 4 effects pedal which go into 4 separate amps! Sod being his tech. And he also says "the days of straight basslines coming from a bass look like they may be nearly over. There`s a whole new approach coming in." Has he had too many blue smarties? Jez
10. Really nice looking bass Rockape and the pics look really good. Am now suffering from serious GAS as some others are no doubt. Jez
11. I would go for the Gotoh one and save some cash as I had a badass and it made not a jot of differance to the sound to my lugs. The BA costs about £70? and the Gotoh shouldn`t set you back more than £30. There have been quite a few discussions on here about the merits of BA versus the old bent bit of tin. Result: inconclusive! Jez
12. I don`t have a problem with posting my town, but when trying to sell something, I think that you should say where you are, especially when the ad says collection only and guess what, no location! But as you say BA, we have been down this road before! Jez
13. Lads you can get em in Glesga!! http://www.guitar.co.uk/guitars/bass/3754-...ian_bass?page=8 Jez
14. I once played with a guitarist who would noodle around and every so often play a great "lick" and when you asked him what it was he played, he didn`t have a clue. Great feel player but he could be intensley anoying. A right "pain in the arse." Happy now WOT? Jez
15. Right away I thought, Jap re issue. He says it has been completly restored so I think it would be difficult to prove that it`s as old as the seller is claming. If it was re fin in 81, it`s still in very good condition for a bass 30yrs old. He`s not really providing much evidence to support his claim. I wouldn`t touch it even if I had the cash. Jez
16.
Will you stupid naughty children go and play a sensible game instead of waisting my tm. Good god you got me doing it now.
Yes Earthling, you are powerless to stop the mighty TM! All shall kneel!! Jez
17.
Well, you will go to East Kilbride!!
Too true Jambo!! The thing is, they looked quite nice from a distance but rough close up. Part of the problem is I don`t drink, then they might have looked okay! As the old joke goes, I have never went to bed with an ugly woman but have woken up with plenty. (copyright Jimmy Logan, 1935) Jez
18. Doctor J, the liability must rest with Bassdirect as that is their business. It`s not as if he is a private seller. The onus is on Bassdirect to ensure that the goods he sells are what they say they are. I don`t get the posts stating that Truckstop is somehow partly to blame. He bought the goods in good faith as described by the shop and while I don`t suppose for a second that he was intentionally mislead, the law, as I understand it, is on Truckstops side. Jez
19. Well last friday in East Kilbride, 2 females were "stroking" the neck of my Jazz and saying that it was "long and hard, just as they like it." I might have enjoyed it but we were playing country girl at the time! And no I didn`t, ya dirty minded monkeys! Jez
20. That`s the exact same model that I have. You will love it!! Jez
21. Fakers club? Where do I sign in!! I think that most of us don`t think that we are that great, I certinly don`t. But I played a gig a few weeks ago with another band watching our every move and afterwards their keyboard/guitar player complimented me on my playing. Maybe he was just being nice but it gave me a lift for a few days. Don`t jack it in, you will only regret it in the future. We are bass players, so get out there and keep on Faking it!! Jez Fakers Club Member 7. (I see these stupid clubs on Talkbass all the time).
22. Gonna stop posting pics of and talking about fretless basses? Even though I can hardy play a fretted bass, I am now gassing for a fretless!!!! AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Jez
23.
I love natural finish basses, P or not... but hey, look what my last GAS attack brought me
You wanna take that P bass back to where you got it, there`s no frets on it! That is one nice piece of wood you have there. Jez
24. I use a zoom for it`s tuner and if a song needs a bit of Fuzz. Or for hitting some spacey notes at obscene volume to piss off the guitarsit. But I think that with the range of tones you can get from the G&L, I don`t need to use any of the other enhancments on the zoom. Jez
25.
the '75 reissue in the glasgow store? - plays pretty good too!
That`s the very chap! Glad to hear it plays as good as it looks. Could be a good replacement for a certain Warwick..... Jez
