Always the same. Some people pick up a bass in a shop and right away the slap fest begins!! Gets right on my wick. I often wonder in what musical contex do they use it? Level 42 tribute band? Only thing that should be slapped is Jackie Wright`s head from Benny Hill. Jez

Steve, I know that you reherse on a friday, but one of the bands I know are playing the Glenhead Tavern in Glasgow road Duntocher next friday and Truckstop`s idea of going to see a good band is a wise one. They are a good, tight band and you should take em down and say "this is how you do it" and see what they say. Some of my lot are going down too. As for spending months in the rehersal studio, we practice a song on the tuesday and gig it on the saturday. It sometimes sounds sh*te though!! Jez
Try here for electronics stuff: http://www.axesrus.com/axeWiringBass.htm
That`s the one that I got for my bitsa P. Decent enough gear and they are good people to deal with. Go for it! Jez

I have never been in that section of the site and even if I did, I don`t think that I am in any way qualified to comment on another players abilites or lack of. That`s my excuse anyway Jez

Everyone should have a P bass bitsa. Mine is a Squire body, Jap Fender 57 neck, Wilkinson tuners, US Fender pick up and a nice wiring kit. I really love my G&L but as said earlier, the fact that you have made it yourself, gives you a bond with the guitar. Jez

Deleting posts and provenance of equipment sold on BC

I seem to remember one of the mods mentioning in the past that they prefer to keep the item description intact as it helps when people run a search on Google or similar. It direct`s non members onto the site. I have no problem leaving the details of a sale but if people want to remove the info for a reason, then it`s up to them. If you suspect dirty deeds, walk away. Another vote for G & L. It`s the most versatile bass, imo of course, with enough sound permitations to confuse a monk fish! And even though mine is a Tribute model, the build quality and finish is top notch. The perfect bass for the busy semi pro in a function band. Jez

Tb, don`t be down hearted. I`m am possibly the most un-talanted (no my mistake, I am the most un-talanted!) bass player on this site with a big gob to match and I play in a reasonably busy covers band. It`s all about getting together with a decent bunch of like minded folks. The 4 of us get along pretty good apart from the occasional dose of lead singers disease. Start your own band? Time for a Basschat group hug Jez

I ordered a T bird from them on the sunday, got it via DHL on the wednesday. Well packed and in perfect knick. Did I read somewhere that they were going to open up a store/warehouse in England? Jez
The question is: what if you never got paid again? Would you just play for the sheer enjoyment? Would your band still enjoy the gigs, knowing there was no payment for them?
I would rather be out gigging, not getting paid than being a bedroom bass player anyday. Nothing against people who are bedroom guitarist`s mind. Jez

We have done a couple of charity nights in the pub when we take our fee from the landlord and donate it to the charity that is hosting the night. That way everyone get`s something out of it. It`s good karma man! Wouldn`t do it too often to be honest but once in a while is ok. I know that a lot of bands up here that play original material struggle to break even on the night. Jez
What a cock! I really can't stand the guy. I really don't rate him as a bassist either....
Ah well, that will be another profesional bass player who is a member of basschat who will not bother us again. Really, is there any need for this level of abuse? Jez

The local crack converters in Paisley has one of these in for £150. It`s black with a matching headstock and a mirror scratch plate and looks a nice piece of kit. Didn`t have time to have a shot but it was very nice. Even though the Indonesian ones don`t get the write up that the Chinese ones, my VMJ was made there and it`s good and I have had an Affinity P and it was good as well. Jez

Nah, leave the tort on, it looks the biz. Don`t you think that white basses look the dog dangalies? Jez
-
Well seeing as we have verified the origin of the body, I`m gonna buy it right away - wibble wibble. It would be quite easy to spot the original owner of the bass anyway. Just look for someone who uses a blowtorch for a plectrum. Jez

Re Mustang Sally: we play it mabye every 2nd gig but only if it`s a few tasty girls doing the backing vocals on it. No girls, no Mustang. Shallow and a bit sexist but honest. The girls love it and so do we. I think that to be a succesfull covers band, you have to play songs that people know. You want to play the songs as well as you can, have a good time and give the punters a good time. There is no point in playing songs by obscure artists that people are not familiar with. There are plenty of bands that are scratching their ar*e or playing in the rehersal studio`s because they can`t get a gig. If you can get bookings playing more obscure stuff, good on ya! Jez

Sorry if I am confusing youz guys. What he did was disconect the internal speaker from the back of the SWR and plugged in another amp head into the external speaker socket on the back of the SWR and turned on both amps. He says that he did this to by pass the SWR amp and see if the buzzing noise was coming from the SWR head. I know, it`s bloomin crazy and I can`t really get my head round it but at least he was decent enough to put his hands up and admit what he had done. He could just have said it chucked it. I have had an e mail from him and he is willing to splash the cash for the repair/replacement. Jez
