1. Looks like an alright bit of kit. Only thing that would put me off is the resale value compared to a Squier. But if you are looking to keep a hold of it for a while, it could be a good buy. Jez
2. I`ve got a Black Crowes dvd called Cabin Fever and although I haven`t played it in a while, I`m sure that the bass player plays a similar bass on a few of the tracks. Looks good, sounds good, £200, all adds up to a happy bass player. Jez
3. Good on ya Geoff!! Getting out there and doing it is what it`s all about. A good trick that we employ is to play a song in the first set and if it goes down really well, is to say that someone has requested that we do it again in the second set. We get away with it as most people are well pissed by then. Jez
4.
thanks for that Burrito, I thought broken nuts were quite rare
You haven`t fallen out with my missus yet. Jez
5. I`m suprised that this hasn`t gone yet. Bargain!! Tell you what, I`ll swap it for a genuine Fender decal. They are worth £50 you know.... Jez
6. Found this shop. Some nice gear. http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/categories/Bass/ Jez
7. I wouldn`t get the Standard Squire and if you don`t fancy the VMJ due to the maple board, have a shot of the Classic Vibe Jazz as it has a rosewood board and is a large step up from the standard for not a lot of dosh more. Also, the pickups in the standard will be somewhat lacking in quality if you want to be a lead instrument. I have never have though that Jazz pickups are thin and tinny but hey, that`s only my opinion. Don`t know if it would suit the kind of music that you want to play but I have never bought into a particular bass being right for a particular knind of music. I think that John Wetton played a P bass in King Crimson back in the day. It`s the old saying, play as many different basses as you can until you find one that suits. Jez
8. This is a great topic and this question has had me thinking for a while. Let`s see if I have got it right. I drop the bottom string to E flat but still play the A in the 5th fret position as normal and it sounds a semi tone lower? And this makes it easier for the singer? And is this called concert pitch? Answers on a post card please..... Jez
9. Guys, you would be better off puting your amps up for sale under their own headings. You would get more interest then as it`s not mixed up with someone else`s sale. Jez
10. Too many different threads to read!! Looking at em quick before they get locked!! Jez
11. Jaco, Pino, Geddy, Jamerson, McCartney............ If they can get by with 4 strings, then it`s good enough for me. But if you need a 5 or a 6 for the songs, then get one. I just don`t think they look right. IMO of course. Jez
12. And meanwhile, back on topic land........ Here is a Jaydee Mark King on sale on Glasgow gumtree. Don`t know anything about it but I thought it might be of interest. I have owned 2 Status models, a T bass and an Energy. They were both excellent sounding instruments and didn`t cost a lot. 13. From a maximun of 9, I now have 3 and have managed to keep it that way for a few months. Sometimes I felt that I had too many choices and I felt as if I was neglecting the un-chosen ones. Now, it`s a choice of 2, either my VMJ or G&L as my P bass bitsa is a live back up only. I feel much better now. I would really like to get down to 1 but can`t seem to manage it. I would have to stop looking on here for a start. Jez
14. When I was playing the Dog and duck last night to 8 people, they were shocked to learn that I can`t read all that fancy written out music. They were even more shocked when I told them that I used bass tabs!! Oh the humanity!! OP I think that you should include them in the work as they are handy for guys like me who can`t read music. To be honest, my inability to read music has never held me back in the type of music that I play: popular covers in the pub and the odd function. I must add that I have nothing but respect for people who can read and if that is a part of your gig then power to ya!! Jez
15. I think that they need to do some work on their profile. Example: I was speaking to a bass player in another band and we got talking about gear. After admiring his Jazz, he asked me what I was playing. G&L I replied. What`s that? was the response. He had never heard of them. (Of course he could be thick!). Having said that, people will play what they like regardless of poularity. They make a very good product imo. They should mention the Leo connection in their blurb but they will never be regarded in the same way as Fender or Musicman. Jez
16. Having perused the Guitar store over the last few years, I would be wary of what you buy there. They sell some right tat in there along with some decent stuff to be fair. I would always be wary of spending that kind of money on a bass from a shop. Better with a Westfield or go along to CC Music in the West end and get a Jim Deacon. Don`t get me wrong, the bass may be okay but there was a Squire affinity on Glasgow Gumtree for £65 I think it was. Really good bass and perfect for modding. Jez
17. That is quite simply one of the nicest looking P bass`s I have seen. I love the way that the headstock is a darker colour than the rest of the neck. Did the guy do that effect for you? If so, he`s well talented. Jez
18. The Indonesian one sounds bloomin good to me. Playing this bass, it`s the only time that someone has complemented me on the sound. Still, he was off his nut at the time! Jez
19. I see that for your 5 grand you get express delivery...16 or 17 days? What`s it coming by camel ? Care in the comunity just aint working............. Jez
20. The tributes are great right out of the box. The neck is quite a chunky affair, more so than the stingray I had. I would say it`s like the neck on a 50`s reissue P bass. Good if you like that sort of thing. Jez

Absolutpepper has one. Drop him a pm. I think he was thinking of selling it recently so it might still be in the for sale section. Jez
22. Nice bass for a superb price! Who makes em anyway? Is it a large Chinese factory who makes lots of gear for other companies? Jez
23. Can anyone explain the curve in the pickups? I`ve never seen anything like those! Also, a tad expensive or am I talking mince? http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/14/69324514.html Jez
24. Great basses and a decent price but you would help the sale if you include details such as your location, are you willing to post or is it collection only. Also some better photo`s wouldn`t go amiss. Good luck!! Jez
25. That would look the biz with a tort gaurd on it. JEZ
